I don't know how old their appliances are that they are using to make the arepas but mine had big chunks of black plastic of every single one of my arepa. As any logical person would, I assumed it was just charged from the press that cooked our arepas but as soon as I bit into it, I knew it was not edible. That is hazardous and when I tried to call their restaurant I got no response and got sent to voicemail. I hope after they see this, they will listen to it and respond. I loved eating at this establishment. I was the first one in there this morning (03/05/2022) coming from Orlando and they seemed very unprepared and honestly, surprised that I was even in there to begin with. No queso or avocado garlic was available. The had JUST OPENED. I would hope they would get there early to have everything prepared needed for the day. Am I wrong or no? I even asked to use the bathroom and they said no because the water was going to be shut off for ONE HOUR and they "needed to save their last flush." Like seriously? That is quoted from the manager (I suppose) with the piercings and no mask while handling food. No one had masks in there (not surprised for the area) but still. I was just taken aback by the service honestly. It's like they didn't expect people to walk in at 11 to get food for lunch and I was crazy for even being in there. Also the rice was stale as hell and my bowl was just subpar overall. Just disappointing. I want a REFUND.

I discovered Flaco’s back in 2020. My wife and I were on a long weekend getaway, I saw they had good reviews, and the weather was perfect (late October). We checked this place out and I experienced the most delicious empanadas I’ve ever had. We drove 45 minutes out of our way to stop there today because we knew we wouldn’t be this close any other time. Their beef empanada is delicious. The pastry is lite, airy, and flakey. The filling is perfectly seasoned. For dessert, make sure you grab two or twelve of the guava and cheese empanadas. They’re amazing and the two fillings are perfectly balanced. It may sound weird but it works. The only thing that will disappoint you is when all your empanadas are gone. So make sure you take several.

First time there. The service was nice. I ordered a single shot Expresso Cuban coffee for $1, sweetened. It was good 😌 But the best part was the Cuban Sandwich 🥪😋😋😋😋 it was awesome! Best one I've had in 10 years! The bread was toasted perfectly. There was loads of meat and cheese! I'd definitely go again!

After eating the food I can say it was alright. The food came out cold but the tortilla was burnt. I ordered two borricos and after everyone after us was served I got them both 48 minutes later. I did not know that two burritos was (against the Flacos law) but I will not do it again because I will not be coming back. dairy free burrito update… made with dairy 48 min later. Had to be re-made. Did not label types of borritos whether with tofu or chicken esc.

Flaco's was a okay. I had higher expectation for the end product. The Ropa Vieja was good in flavor, but it needed some fresh elements to balance out the potent flavor. The restaurant was very understaffed, i congratulate that one employee who was trying his best to keep everything under control.

The best simple Cuban food you're going to get in Gainesville. It can't compare to Miami or Cuba (obviously), but the Cuban Gator sandwich and the beef pastry puff were legit. Love that it's open super late compared to other restaurants in Gainesville. Will come again to try their ropa vieja. There was a fair wait for our food on a busy Fri night, but staff were friendly and prices are extremely reasonable.

Had tried some bites of my friend’s orders a few times and never understood the hype. Went back and tried a cuban as well as the nachos and was thoroughly impressed. Great place to grab a beer, eats some cuban food, and listen to live music in their own closed off street. 100% a must try for people new to Gainesville
