What a truly amazing culinary experience! My wife and I were treated to dinner at the Root & Bone with my parents. Everything about it was simply wonderful, from the initial welcoming and seating, to the decor and ambiance, the friendly service, and of course, the food. For appetizers we had the pork belly and scallops. Main courses were all fish, 3 or us choosing the special which was a Mediterranean sea bass. Lastly, some cheesecake and apple cobbler for desert. All the food was just perfect in every way, from the presentation, to the balance of flavours, freshness, temperature, and so on. We also had a great view of the kitchen in operation, and chef Ray as the conductor. Thank you!

One of the BEST restaurants in Ontario! Their offerings are just amazing and outstanding!! Every single meal (and cocktails) my partner and I had gave us WOW factors! Never had this good venison and pickerel before! In addition, the staffs were welcoming and friendly (Katie the manager was very attentive!) We will absolutely make the journey back to this restaurant regularly!

Amazing food and exceptional service. If I could give this place 10 stars…. I would. We had a surprise birthday dinner for our Girlfriend and toasted the end of summer outside their gorgeous patio. Everything was delicious and we had ordered everything on the appetizer section to share. Definitely one of the top 3 restaurants I say in Niagara you must try. The wait staff truly made our night super special.

For one who has such expansive experience cheffing for the rich and famous around the world, Chef Ray Taylor is humble, kind, and down to earth; we feel honoured to be served by him and his team. Every detail of every dish is exquisite and thoughtful. Everything is delicious and a felicitous culinary dream. We are regulars for a few years and we've never been disappointed. Never mind the 5 stars here, he is a 3 Michelin Star chef and restaurant! Read some of the reviews here and not shocking that they are all excellent. Note: when dining at a place like this, etiquette would dictate that one need not ask for extra salt (or pepper either probably), so definitely not fried onions!

My dinner experience at Root and Bone was absolutely charming and delicious and I would definitely recommend this spot for a romantic night out, a celebratory dinner, or an indulgent dinner for the culinary foodie. I was also visiting with my dogs and the management very kindly allowed me to dine outside with my dogs sitting quietly by my chair, so I'm grateful the accommodations for my pets and for taking care of them as well by setting down some cold water for them on a hot summers day. This restaurant dedicates itself to highlighting the best of local Ontario ingredients, and specially tailors their menu to reflect seasonal, fresh ingredients. I had the pleasure of enjoying the fresh baked sourdough bread, fried zucchini flowers, wagyu beef pappardelle, and venison steak with roasted seasonal vegetables. Every dish was cooked to perfection and presented with elegance and flair. Their cocktail selection was unique and exciting but for those wishing to stay sober the bar was able to make any cocktail a mocktail, so I also enjoyed a hibiscus lavender lemonade sans alcohol, truly refreshing for a summer evening. One of the many delights of dining at this restaurant is enjoying the atmosphere, the staff take great care of their diners and are friendly and attentive, while the lovely string lights lend an attractive ambient glow to the al fresco dining experience, and even the washroom facilities are elevated with the gentle aroma from lit scented candles. My only regret is not having a large enough stomach to get dessert, for the strawberry elderflowers cheesecake with pistachio gelato sounded particularly enticing. Alas, I will have to visit another time to partake in another delicious meal!

This place does not disappoint in delivering an exceptional culinary experience. If you are looking to tantalize your tastebuds, this is a very good start. A farm to table approach with a dynamic menu using the freshest of ingredients, it is hard to find fault in any of the menu items. We were fortunate to enjoy octopus and pork belly as our appetizers. The octopus was cooked to perfection, perfectly complimented with a wonderful tomato salad and a multitude of herbs infused in the oil. The pork belly was scrumptious providing different textures and a balance of sweet and savoury that is hard to describe. The mains we enjoyed this evening were a short rib papperdelle and a venison on a bed of wild mushrooms and fingerling potatoes. Both exquisite dishes, providing a depth of flavour and complexity of simple ingredients to accentuate the protein. The dinner was capped with a beautiful dessert of an apple cobbler with vanilla gelato. Hot, cold, soft, crunchy, sweet mixed into one little package. I highly recommend this spot and would classify it as a must-go destination in Fonthill and safe to say, the Niagara Region. Simply the best.

Our first time visiting Root and Bone. An incredible meal and outstanding service. The open kitchen was neat to see...a well oiled machine. A great atmosphere. Our waitress Rachel was personable, knowledgeable of the whole menu and very attentive to our needs but not intrusive to our dinner. We will, without a doubt, be back.

Fantastic food and service. Katie went above and beyond to connect with the customers. The other waitress was great too making an effort to check on us and make conversation. Well worth it. Great night out. It was a great experience. Will definitely be back. Recommend the Duet of Beef cooked rare.
