Zen Bento

Decent Bento Bowls. Greeted by a pleasant cashier today. Tasty Chicken Brown Rice (w/Z-Nut) bowl, but they are expensive for what you get. After all... I'm pretty sure they cook the chicken on a propane grill behind the building. Limited inside seating, but outside seating is also available when it's nice out. Parking is hard to find during lunchtime, but you can often find a spot in front of the neighboring senior center.

The location is great right in downtown Eagle with street parking or parking lot available. The staff is very friendly and so incredibly good with kids. The staff member actually took them time to ask my kid what he wanted to order and listened. It was really sweet to watch. The food is fresh and always tastes good. They even offer half sizes. I like the Eagle location better than the downtown one because they really take the time to connect with their customers.

Went there for lunch for the first time today. The food was delicious but everything else about my experience there was essentially awful. The two employees there (who were not wearing name tags) were not necessarily rude but they were not friendly either. The young girl taking orders wore a sour expression that worsened with every customer that walked in the door and when I smiled at the young man in the kitchen I received a glare in return. I asked about the difference between the regular salmon bowl & the wild caught salmon bowl and was told the regular bowl had farmed salmon. I’m really surprised that a restaurant offering ‘healthy’ food options would serve any kind of farmed fish. So I attempted to order the wild caught salmon bowl and was told she didn’t have any at the moment. I recommended that maybe she should erase it from the specials board if it wasn’t available. She then told me she could ‘make some up real quick’. I simply ordered something else. The entire floor was sticky, no one had bothered to clean it. When I finally got the 2 bowls I ordered I felt I had to eat outside to escape the hostility of the employees as well as the cramped & crowded waiting/seating area. Unfortunately, the outdoor seating area was not well kept either. I didn’t stay. And since my overall experience was so poor, I don’t believe it’s worth going back just for the food. I can simply go across the way to bardenay and have a delicious & healthy salad much faster, friendlier, and in a much cleaner environment even on their patio.

This is a great place! Its allergy friendly, and the staff is fantastic. The food is always very fresh and filling. They never stiff you on the portions. The variety is amazing - ahi tuna, salmon, chicken, tofu, and more; with a selection of sauces, too for every pallet. The prices aren't bad either for the quality food you receive. I definitely rate Zen Bento a 5 star every day!

This place and the people that work there are awesome. I literally eat here 3+ times a week. The food is always delicious (especially the salmon bento with ginger soy sauce) and the service is top notch. They even say hi by name to a large chunk of people that eat here. The fact that they are on a first name basis with many of their customers should tell you two important things... 1. They care a lot about their customers. 2. Their customers eat here enough to be called out by name. Very cool lunch spot location too. Go check them out if you haven't been here before. Two thumbs up!

This has been a staple in my life for the last 20 years. Zen Bento started out as a tiny little place on 10th street in downtown Boise, now there are 3 locations in the Valley! While they have expanded, they haven't lost any of their quality or taste. I love the Zen Salad, with brown rices, extra chicken, peanuts, green onions, ginger soy, and Zen sauce. YUM!
