Went to watch the boxing and was pleasantly surprised how good it was .There are plenty of good screens and even though it was packed, it didn't feel like it and everyone had a good comfortable view.The sound was also turned up so all could hear and this is important but something a lot of pubs don't bother with.It was easy to get served and there was a great atmosphere.I will definitely go again and intend to eat there next time.Excellent.

We stayed nearby for the Chester marathon. Thought it would be a nice place to refuel. Had two Sunday roasts for just under a tenner (for both!). Didn't expect much at that price but we were wrong. Though obviously not Michelin quality food, the roast potatoes were perfect and the amount of food on our plates made us wonder how they made a profit on them. Friendly staff and sport on the multiple tellys was good. Will definitely be calling in here again if we're ever in Chester.

H- great pub, love the quiz nights, we go every week and the drinks are cheap, £2.20 a pint is a bargin! T- cheap, tasty and fun! Very convenient to the Chester University campus. Has the prerequisite standard uninteresting beers that you'll drink anyhow, and plays loud music ( barely within reason) as you'd expect from somewhere frequented by students. Plenty of pub games available and enough seating that'll never be enough seating.

Staff are nice, the rooms are lovely, the windows provide really good quiet from the busy roads. Very close to town, I'd say 5-15 minute walk depending on where you're going in town. Very old fashioned taste, tea and coffee, more than 1 pillow each! Tv, toilet with a shower, desk, mirrors, good value room all in all.
