A great place for lunch. I've never been there for dinner. For Thanksgiving and Christmas you can have them cook a turkey or ham for you, and you can order food for other events.

Dude, restore your faith in food here. I had a delicious falafel platter and listened to live music while I ate. So, so nice. The lighting makes the atmospheric so comfortable. I had a really, really friendly server. IMO the best spot for Mediterranean food in Charlottesville.

I have been to Bashir's for lunch a few times and I loved it. Delicious! The waiters and owner were always very friendly to me. I would recommend the baked salmon with dill sauce. The soup of the day is yummy too - I had bean soup for lunch and it was amazing and super filling.

I'm disappointed because I can see the potential. I wonder if the owner is just done. wife and I decided to try Bashir's tavern this Friday. I've heard good things about it. The menu sounded good. nice place. cozy. cool decor. walked in, it was so silent you could hear a pen drop. no music and nobody else inside. we sat in a cozy booth. the waiter brought the menu. it was large...but half of it was just blank pages...odd.. we started with some water, first time I have ever gotten water in a plastic cup, kinda tacky for a restaurant that charges 16 to 18 a plate. anyways...my wife's plate and mine came with the same sides, carrot with cumin salad and potato gratin, different proteins. potato was bland, carrot salad was ok but my 5 year old daughter could cut carrots better. my chicken was cooked nice but it lacked seasoning and they hacked at it and just threw it on the plate, needless to say I make my meals look nicer at home, I kid you not I should have taken a picture. oh did I mention waiter forgot to give us utensils. and never offered some more water. final verdict. it lacks imagination. food is boring and having the same sides for most of the dishes is just lazy. staff lacked training. Cant see myself going back.

We have been patrons of Bashir's for years, and he and Kathy have never disappointed. We even held our wedding rehearsal dinner there, and cousins are still talking about his baklava. I have travelled to the Middle East often before retiring, and Bashir's Middle Eastern fare is as good as any I have had in Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, or anywhere else. I highly recommend his restaurant - you will enjoy the experience as much as the food. Enjoy!

We were looking for a nice restaurant with good atmosphere an found it at Bashir's. Their menu of offerings was excellent. Would highly suggest the Chicken Souvlaki! Staff was extremely pleasant and friendly. Outdoor dining looked like an excellent option for a cool evening.

Warm, welcoming, and wonderful dining experience. Bashir's features Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes filled with the entire spectrum of the flavors for which those cuisines are famous. If you aren't familiar with these foods this is the place to try them. Perhaps order the sample platter. Whether it's the falafel, or roasted vegetables Mediterranean style or the pomegranate glazed turkey or the apricot glazed ham you will not be disappointed. They even make their own baklava. And if you want a full sample of Middle Eastern culture there are belly dancers on Saturday night and they are the genuine article. They are women from that part of the world that dance almost as an art form. Health note: This is one of the healthiest cuisines in the world.

This place is way overpriced. My boyfriend and I ordered hummus with pita, a salad, and the falafel platter--it came out to $45. Turns out we had to pay a cover (that nobody told us about) for the terrible flamenco "entertainment" noise happening that night. Either of us could've easily prepared the meals we ordered; we were unimpressed in a big way. Don't go on a Friday night unless you want to pay to listen to loud foot-stomping.
