We booked a table, which is advisable as it does get very busy. Staff very friendly, Caitlin served us and she was extremely attentive. We ordered the vegan Sunday lunch. It was piping hot and huge portions, very tasty. A variety of veg which was nice. Would recommend, great choice of food and competively priced.

The food was excellent. The service was ok but there were two ladies that were quite rude and abrupt. A smile doesnt really cost much either. The drinks were very overpriced and the rooms are a little dated and were lacking that extra bit of TLC. For £160 a night I expected better.

The food was delicious and the staff are so friendly. I always come here at least once when I'm back in Castleton. Not once have I been disappointed by the food. Its always amazing. I just can't recommend this place enough!

Probably the best Sunday roast that I've ever eaten in a pub. I'm always a little wary of Sunday roasts in general - often the meat is dry and you get less than you hoped for. This was superb though- all the meat was spot-on, and the portion size was substantial- left me full and I have a big appetite. Thank you to Caitlin who served us, and Dave and Antony in the kitchen (I found out their names after complimenting the food whilst I was there - I have no personal connection to this establishment. ). Will definitely come back.

Stayed here just for one night. The room was massive with a gigantic comfy bed. Lovely bathroom with a walk in shower. Full english with selection of teas/ coffees. Cosy pub, overall 5 stars from me. Will visit and stay again.

- The atmosphere is great with the 19th century pub. - The grill dishes were great (grilled chicken and soup) but I would not recommend the pizzas. Go for the usual pub food. - I visited here twice, once in May and once in Sep 2023. In May, the weather was beautiful and sitting in the backside of the pub was absolutely awesome. - The waiting time was rather too long. We waited for 30 minutes for our food so asked about it and the waitress said ‘it had been only 30 minutes!’. I do not know whether it is the norm here but it did not feel good - the waiting nor her response.

Classic pub with its own car park for patrons (not just for residents like the George next door). Good selection of beers and good food. Service was ok, but it was quiet at early lunch time. Pot of tea had a slightly metallic taste. Kettle or boiler probably needed cleaning.

We met up with friends here last week for lunch, and took advantage of the Castle's generous promotional discount. The bar area was quite busy, so they opened up the restaurant for us - which we had to ourselves! In spite of being "out of sight" the service was excellent and we all enjoyed the tasty starters (Brie bites) and each main was delicious. Thanks!

Another lovely pub in Castleton. The staff are friendly and helpful. A nice selection of beer n ale. If the weathers nice I would recommend sitting in the beer garden at the back of the pub. It seems most people didn't realise it was there and sat on the shaded seat out the front. Great view from the beer garden too! Thr carpark Is small .. as expected in castleton but.. there's a few spaces.
