I am a regular guest at this restaurant. Today....

The food was so terrible , and it was the worst restaurant I've ever been to.
The employee was very unkind and I was so disappointed.
I hope no one visits this place.
You will surely regret it. I have been to A+ buffet sushi bar twice now. The last time that I went to this place was yesterday. The food is average but the eating area was filled with black insects (Fruit flies). It was such an unhygienic atmosphere that I totally lost my appetite and even felt pukish later on.
I am definitely not going back.

Came here on Friday with the family after a trip to Costco. The kids were hungry so we thought buffet would be good. Plentiful parking. The place was busy which I guess is a good sign. It is quite big inside and we were seated promptly.

There is a good selection of cooked items like dim sum, noodles, rice, western Chinese fare, Korean short ribs, various soups. There was a good selection of sushi rolls, salmon sushi and sashimi. Cold section had lots of selection of salad, pickles and such. In the front there was shrimp, scallops, lobster claw, mussels, clams, and escargot.

For dessert, there was a candy bar with sours and assorted treats. Cakes, mouses and such lined one aisle. Lots of flavours of ice cream and one feature of pineapple whip - our favourite.

Service was great for the most part. They came by to take empty plates often. There was a couple of lulls where it took awhile to refill water but all in all it was good.

Family was full by the end of it. Weekends are a bit more expensive then the rest of the week. We'd definitely come back.

This buffet is very clean and well- maintained. I found that there is a decent section for sushi and an abundance of other hot foods. The seafood is fresh here and definitely a must if you do pay a visit here.

A+ Buffet Sushi Bar is located on Macleod Trail Calgary, which right across the street from one of the busiest Mall, Chinook mall, in Calgary. My coworker recommended me about this place. A+ Buffet Sushi Bar is all you can eat buffet and it mainly serves Asian food, such as Chinese, Korean and Japanese food. We arrived restaurant on Monday around the lunchtime. Although it was Weekday, It was still super busy. After waiting for few minutes, the server took us inside the restaurant. Inside the restaurant is very big and has lots of tables/seats. After we found a table, we started to go grabbing food from the food section. The food section was very organized and have multiple selections for customers. People could choose Chinese food, Japanese food, dessert, and seafood, all by themselves. Since we had lunch there, crabs, sashimi, and others seafood were not there. The taste of food were OK. Nothing excited. The seafood was fresh. Highly Recommend people to eat more seafood at this place.

I found a hair in the fried rice buffet tray. I told one of the workers and she scoped some rice out and stirred the rice around. I went back and checked and the hair was still in the fried rice.

I’ve got nothing bad to say about this buffet. Huge variety and food was pretty good. Sushi and sashimis aren’t even the main attraction - there are Chinese foods, seafood, deep fried bar and a large dessert section. Salad bar is lacking - not much variety. Service was excellent. Don’t love that plates are below the food trays (risky game) but not a deal breaker. Would go back. Just a buffet.

We went to A+ Sushi for dinner tonight. It was surprisingly not bad! I didn't realize it was buffet style, I thought it was like most AYCE sushi places where you mark what you want on a piece of paper and the servers bring it to you. Buffet style is much better in my opinion because you can grab a small amount of something and try it instead of getting an order of 4 pieces and realizing you don't like it. The other thing I didn't realize about A+ Sushi is that it's way more than just sushi, in fact I don't think sushi was even the majority of the buffet.

There was a hot station with some fried foods like yam and shrimp tempura, spring rolls, chicken wings, breaded fried fish filets, gyoza, onion rings and also a few different meats like grilled salmon, teriyaki chicken and beef, lemon chicken, and barbecue pork ribs. The chicken wings were good and so was the grilled salmon. Gyoza was too chewy and dry.

The other hot station had a bunch of different noodle dishes, stir fry dishes, fried rice and a couple dim sum options (Siu Mai and Har Gow). In this section I also saw a few vegetarian dishes, maybe 6 different stir fry dishes that were meatless and some tofu dishes. The "name cards" above these dishes did not specify that they were vegetarian but there was no obvious meat in them, I'm just not guaranteeing that they don't contain chicken stock or some other trace amounts of meat. I liked some of the noodle dishes but didn't try much else because I didn't want to fill up on this stuff. The dim sum wasn't great, the pork dumplings were very porky... like they tasted like ham almost. Not great. And someone said the shrimp dumplings were doughy.

There was a seafood section with cold shrimp, mussels, and crab claws. I found the shrimp just ok and sort of hard to peel, I didn't get seconds. I didn't try the crab but a few people at my table said it was a bit salty.

The salad bar was pretty basic with mostly just the fixings for a nice garden salad. I did also see edamame, kimchi, and a few different salads like macaroni, sprout, and corn.

They had a few different soups available: miso, wonton, chicken noodle, hot and sour.

The sushi was not bad for a buffet. The rolls weren't very interesting. Some of them were ok but some of them tasted like the rolls you would find at a casino buffet, which to me taste like they were made by someone who isn't a legit sushi chef. The salmon sashimi was really good though!

The desserts weren't all that appealing. They had a cheesecake, a Black Forest cake, tiramisu, a few little cups with pudding, some jello. I didn't eat any of this because it all looked a bit dry and boring. The best part was the ice cream though. They had a deep freeze on the end of the dessert section that had 6 different pails of ice cream you could scoop out into cones or bowls. I had mint chocolate chip and it was pretty good. They also have a soft serve machine with vanilla and chocolate but one person in our group tried it and it was a bit melty so no one else got it.

Overall I think this place was ok. I wasn't expecting to eat anything that I would call delicious (and I didn't) but I was in a buffet kind of mood and this buffet was better than a lot. We've gone to the Asian buffets at various casinos in Calgary and I think this one was way better than any of those. That's not exactly a glowing accolade though... I'm not exactly sure how the prices compare to other restaurants and I didn't have a chance to analyze the bill since someone else was paying for the entire group. I do know that the total bill came to 172.00 and it was for 4 adults, 1 senior, 2 children (aged 7 and 9) and 1 child (aged 4) and it included a couple drinks as well.

I don't think I would go out of my way to return to this restaurant, especially if what I was craving was sushi because there are way better AYCE sushi restaurants for a similar price, but we'll probably go back if we're in a buffet mood and happen to be nearby.

First time coming here and the place looks very modern. The buffet offers a variety of different foods, a tempura section, a Chinese food section, sushi and sashimi section, some other fried foods, soups, and a small dessert area.
There is also oysters and crab legs.
The highlight of my dinner was the salmon sashimi, it was melt in your mouth!
I have been to many other all you can eat sushi places, and this place was nice to try but I wouldn't drive all the way out of my way to come again.

Loved this buffet. I'm personally the biggest fan of sushi, so I only got sushi, and can't say anything about the other types of food they offer, but I can say there was so much there, so much variety. Definitely getting your moneys worth.
All my sushi was quite lovely, buffet style for sushi is great, since sushi rolls can get super expensive in most restaurants and you can't afford to try all different kinds. I'd definitely recommend it when you want your fill of sushi. Restaurant was clean, large and comfortable.I thought the price was definitely reasonable for all you can eat and the variety they provide. I will be coming back, for sure!

The worst food ever. Both quality and service was terrible. The food did not look appealing at all and also was not fresh. After eating some of the sashimi and surf clams, noticed that something was stuck in my throat and couldnt even get it out (see attached photo). Will never go back and would never recommend to anyone. The plates were not properly cleaned. 99% of them were still dirty. No wonder they are only rated 2/5. Avoid.

After looking at some of the reviews that came before, I was hesitant on deciding to come. Being Christmas and coming thru Calgary on our home, my family wanted something filling, and the request were all over the place. We all decided to give this buffet a chance, as we wouldn't be back down for at least half a year or more, being non native to Calgary. So here is what we found.

We came for a lunch buffet, and the selection was extensive. Most of the hot food was coming out fresh at frequent intervals. Restaurant itself was moderately busy with small families. They had 4 different types of maki, 3 sushi and 4 different rolls, which impressed me for a buffet that doesn't specialize in just sushi. Taste wise it was ok. Fish was fresh and sauces were flavourful.

Again comparing it to other buffets. We were not coming into this restaurant expecting food tasting like a gourmet sushi house or authentic Chinese restaurant.

Heading over to the Chinese section, only the teriyaki wonton and chicken ball were a little dry. Short rib were moist, fresh off the grill and very flavourful. The shrimp tampura, scallops and crab were moist and not over cooked which was a nice change.

The general Tao chicken was very saucy with a nice spice, and stir fried noodles had a good flavour.

All the hot food was hot, not cold, and considering we came at the tail end of lunch rush, I was expecting some of it to be a little cold.

We avoided most of the cakes as they were not covered and looked a little dry, but cream puffs, macaroons, and cheesecake are always fair game. The chocolate fountain was a nice touch to.

Our bill at the end of day would have been a cool $63 plus tax, but with a 20% discount came to $55 for 3 adults.

Overall the restaurant met and exceeded my expectations of a buffet. Would I come out of my way to come here to eat? No. Would I come here if I was in town? Absolutely.

I recommend this buffet if your hungry and want a nice selection and variety of food.

It's really a chinese buffet and not a good one at that. The resturant itself is nice enough but quality of food suffers. There were limited rolls and sushi 4 kinds to be exact. One of them didnt even seem to have fish.. there's a menu price is $2 for babies 0 to 3... which she didn't charge. Another reviewer said it was 14.00 for lunch. It's 17.00 for lunch now with a supposed %20 off. The 2 dim sum dishes were totally wrong.. shrimp dumplings were a spicy veggie dumpling. Sorry A + I have to give a D minus.... we feel duped... I we thought we were going for sushi buffett not a chinese one.

Decided to check out A+ sushi buffet to see what it all had to offer. The buffet was absolutely huge, with a range of difference options, from salad, stir fry, soups, and dessert. The price is quite high, since the buffet includes quite a substantial amount of food - definitely come hungry. For sushi you order on a piece of paper, separate from the buffet. The sushi was great and I only had a few things from the buffet but was completely over full afterwards. Overall a pleasant experience. A bit deserted, but the food was quite good.

Stay away. While the lunch special for $14 looks enticing, you may as well go down to Oishii closeby and pay the extra $3.

This place was quite good to fill my fix of 'All you can eat' with its competitive price and offering of food, but slowly over the last 2 months since they got busy, they've phased out anything that might make it worthwhile.

The first few times i went, there was the standard order sheet with a short selection of nigiri such as Tuna, Salmon, Masago, Eel, Tamago, etc. various rolls and hand cones.

The next time i went, they decided to have everything out by the buffet with no option to use the order sheet. This would be a great idea, if they had actually stocked it well. Instead, they only had the standard Tuna/Salmon Nigiri with filler such as Avocado Rolls, Tempura Rolls, California Rolls, etc.

I still didn't mind this much as long as long i got my Nigiri and the hot food was plentiful, but this next visit was just outright ridiculous and a waste of my money.

The noodle dishes were in short supply, anything left was the picked over leftovers.

They had switched the dim sum (shui mai and shrimp dumplings) to some lower end filler with chicken instead that tasted like mush.

For the BBQ food, anything worthwhile, like short ribs, would have a group of people circling the cook like vultures. As the meat is handed out in seconds, the logical thing to do would be to make more of such a sought after item. Sadly, the staff here is anything but.

The last straw was the new rule they enacted in which the only sushi items that are put out on Monday-Thurs are rolls. No nigiri, no handcones. Only rolls. The rolls they seem to have with fish in them are the basic tuna and salmon rolls coupled with the filler rolls as mentioned above.

This last experience was awful enough for me to bring my lazy ass on here and try to write as detailed a review as i could to ward off anyone that might be thinking of coming here to eat.

The sad selection of sushi coupled with the lack of variety in the hot food means you'll be picking at the same few items over and over waiting for the things that may never come.

Please don't go here. Seriously, Oishii is only a few minutes away.

First, I must say the place is very elegant, spacious, well lit, and laid out...
So I guess they have made some changes recently. The service was spot on. The place is an Asian Buffet with an AYCE sushi bar. Not a AYCE sushi bar only.
I must say the Asian Buffet is one of the better ones in Calgary, the sushi is not bad at all but it's not a la carte quality, (obviously).
We went right at 5pm so the food was as fresh as it gets.
I'm not a very picky eater but for those that complain the food is cold, well it is a buffet where food sits on a heating tray for a while, grab from the bottom of the tray if you want warmer food and don't show up at closing time and expect fresh food.
Now, originally the sushi was made to order via a menu, but because the wait was too long they changed to a buffet bar style, we however asked for the menu, placed an order and also grabbed from the bar as not all items are always available at the buffet bar.
They do however rotate the variety often.
All in all, this is my new favourite place for Asian Buffet, and the price reflects the variety and quality of sushi also available.

Had a great experience, probably the best of all Asian buffet places in Calgary. The food is actually decent if not good. There are a ton of options. The best part is the service: Henry was our server both times for our table or 2 and table of 7. He was super friendly, attentive, efficient, quick, thorough and genuinely caring. He definitely provided the best service experience in dining that I've ever had. The front host Shelley also greeted us great energy and made sure everyone who came through the door was looked after. I highly recommend giving A+ a try!

I love A+ Buffet Sushi & Bar! I had my daughter's Baptism Reception at this restaurant today during lunch hour, 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm and I must say that the food and service was very excellent! And the restaurant facility was very clean!

The food was fresh, taste was exellent, lots of variety, so much to choose from and the dishes were always filled up!

The service was excellent! My husband and our kids arrived at the restaurant half an hour before our reservation time, even though we were half hour early, the section we reserved for 60 people were ready! There were also about 4 - 6 servers that were looking after us!

The restaurant facilities were very clean!

All of our guests were very Wowed by this restaurant. They all loved the food, the service and the cleanliness of the restaurant.

I give A+ Buffet Sushi & Bar 5 stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

And don't forget they also have the 30% off Lunch Special if you are seated before 12 Noon and I believe 20% off for Dinner if seated at a certain time.

This restaurant is truly A+!

My friends and I were curious about this place and decided to give it a try without reservations on a Saturday night. Luckily we got the last table for 6, the employees had a name tag which made it easier to spot them for assistance. The ambience and decoration is suited to my taste.

As for the food, there are only selected items that are worth taking while the rest can be skipped. Here are my favorite dishes:
*deep fried bread with condense milk
*crab legs (make sure it is fresh)
*mussels
*Korean fried rice
*short ribs
*beef steak slices
*broccoli with cranberries
*sweet and sour pork

You are more than welcome to try the other dishes but those are the items I would recommend to get the most value. I wouldn't recommend the ice cream as it taste really artificial and soups taste like generic instant soup pack mix (too salty). I thought this place would have red bean soup dessert but to my disappointment it was a green bean soup.

Finally, for the price i am paying it is not worth $35.00 + tips. I would rather spend it on a hot pot place.

This buffet caught my interest when it got featured in DailyHiveYYC. The interior is pretty nice I can say. So how this restaurant works is that they have a buffet and you can order the sushi through their sushi ordering slips you can find in your table. Their sushi takes forever to come.. and of course if you're starving you would head down to the buffet and get something to eat. Buffet food is a bit greasy for me. Also, the sushi is mediocre. I had better sushi somewhere else. This place is pretty hyped up but I wouldn't recommend this place. Service wise - not even good enough to compensate for the mediocre food.

Seems like there's a lot of mixed reviews and mixed experiences. My baby bro experienced what seemed like ten folds of pure bad service but when I went with the rest of family on a different evening, our experience wasn't half as a bad as his.

I made reservations for 7 before 6pm knowing that if our entire party arrived before then, then we'd get a sticker for 10% off the entire bill. Surprisingly the restaurant was pretty full too. I guess everyone went for that deal.

The service was alright... Lacked a bit of attention as our glasses of pop and water emptied several times. But it was not the worse I've experienced.

The food was OK... We all agreed it wasn't horrible but wasn't good either. The sashimi and sushi is to be ordered off the order sheets. They took about 10 min to arrive. The sashimi pieces were decent sized and the sushi and rolls tasted like average Japanese quality in Calgary. In my opinion, Majority of the buffet selection is Chinese food. And if you're Chinese then you know it's not good. The seafood bar was what I was looking forward to but was fairly disappointed. The king crabs were small-med sized and the good pieces were always gone when I got to it. The mussels were okay but no flavour unless you squeeze lemon on it. They're supposed to have raw oysters which we all thought was a lie until I consistently kept seeing one left in a different spot only to realize the tables with eyes on the seafood bar would go and raid the oysters before anyone else got to it. There were a lot of cocktail shrimp though. Then came the dessert bar.. Feedback from my party as I'm not a huge dessert fan: the ice cream flavours were all off. The twisted one from the machine tasted like frozen milk with forgotten vanilla. The egg tarts were hard and seemed like a couple days old.

So we all agreed we would never come back... Even if with the current discount or any future additional discount. Unless the quality evidently changes then you're not missing out on anything.

STAY AWAY from this rip off place!!! Four of us went in on a Saturday night...place was packed so I thought wow...this place must be *good*. Waited for bout 10 minutes then got seated...right away we went to get our food. What a huge disappointment....it's a CHINESE BUFFET ppl.... and not even a good Chinese buffet..food is COLD..disgusting, greasy, you can see flies!! I almost couldn't get myself to get ANY of the food there.... so...back to the table... there's a sush/sashimi form... although its name says sushi bar buffet..... the choices are very little... and it took like FOREVER to come... and missed one of our orders as well. it's like they don't wanna give you the order.....hoping you get full by eating those crappy COLD dishes. god... I wish I never stepped in that place... and service was BAD. the only time we felt we were being served was when she handed us our bill..... never refill our tea/water... even asked...... this place is just horrible! id never go again and will tell anyone I know to stay away for your own good. for that amount of money you can have a great dinner elsewhere with good decent HOT dishes! EEK!

Ayce sushi lunch time quality was decent and I'm originally from Vancouver and we don't have anything like this Buffet/Ayce, the bbq eel was probably the highlight as well as the dynamite however I waited on an order for just 4pcs of eel and 1 order of dynamite and took at least 20mins for the server to ask me if I was okay and I told him about my order and he came back and told me it actually went to another table so that was very disappointing he did offer to reorder and he would get it immediately considering they had so many waiters/waitresses around I can see why they would just grab any plate off the sushi bar to serve it only takes territory effort and communication within the team I guess it's easier said then done.Would I go here again probably, however if they take that long again for simple sushi to be made I won't be back. I told the head cashier about it and she either seemed to busy to hear my complaint or she really just ignored me so I didn't tip she could of at least knocked off 10% off the bill. The waiter we had he was good and it's not his fault it was probably new trainees going gun hole at the sushi bar.

A+ Sushi is SO bad. I would rate it 0.25 out of 5. YES less than 1... The sushi... was horrible and after 40 minutes most of the sushi we ordered didn't even come out. And I had to complain twice to get it out... which we waited an additional 40 minutes. The Las Vegas roll is a roll deep fried on the outside. It tasted soggy, like it was microwaved... did they forget about it and just microwaved it? Then the price is absurd... A+ sushi has very few sushi selections and the buffet.. Quality of the food... not fresh, badly seasoned, and some food were over cooked. I can cook better than this place and I can't cook. This place looks nice, but it's just a shell. An apple with a rotten core. I will never ever give this place another chance. Waste of money, never felt this salty before lol.

It was about 10-15 minute wait before we were able to get a seat. The place is pretty packed with a nice style restaurant layout. There is a menu and a Chinese style Buffett with dessert. We ordered sushi from the menu and also checked out the buffet, there is a nice selection of assorted types of food at the buffet. The sushi came out and I found it to be decent, the rice was more soft than it should be, after a few more bites, the gooeyness of the rice was too much and I had to stop. It's a nice spot, I'd come back and give it another try.

I went here with a couple of friends and the place is packed with people. We stood inside waiting for a table for about 20 minutes which is fine, no big deal. When its finally our turn, the hostess offered to show us around, and we agreed to it. She showed us where to get the wasabi and the sauces including the ones for tempura, taught us how to order items FRESH from the grill bar which is fantastic, and she even showed us where the candy bar is! Unbelievable. The selection of the fresh seafood is a new concept for a buffet restaurant to me. Even shocking is that she told us that there are over 50 sushi including sashimi items to choose from!!! Im literally shook because we thought that its just ayce buffet but also ayce sushi. Service was top notch, easy to get ahold of the servers. Dessert was overall fantastic, you should definitely try the cream puffs, worth dying for lol. The only issue is that they should put more new or rather unique foods in the hot food section. But yeah, overall, I highly recommend this place. Just make sure to go here starving!

First of all, it's advertised as a Sushi Buffet but it's not. It's a regular Asian buffet with AYCE sushi that you can order on the side.

That alone made me immediately lose interest in the place, but after trying 90% of the food it's safe to say the quality of cuisine is just as disappointing. Mediocrity at its best.

It's definitely quantity over quality here, I'd rather have AYCE sushi somewhere else in Calgary and a variety of shitty Asian cuisine that I have to get up for isn't very enticing to me.

I've been to buffets before with a very robust sushi section, I was hoping to see Calgary's take on the concept but this is just not it.

We were pleased with the ambience and the warm reception they have showed as we entered the place.
