Subs are really cheap ($5.95) and good. Good flavours with the toppings and sauces. The bread was a tiny tiny bit on the stale/crunchy side and I think they could have added more meat, but it was satisfying. Really friendly guy took our take out order too, which is always nice!

EXCELLENT pho broth. Just the right amount of salt and a little bit of sweet. My favourite is as Satay Beef but, also great as rare beef, vegetable, wonton...etc.

We also love the salt and pepper wings and the spring rolls.

The location is a little unassuming and sometimes the parking lot can be sketchy but, the take-out is just as good as the eat-in and always fast.

Price is around 10-12. Operated by koreans but serves Viet food. I've tried the pho, the vermicelli, and the sub. The food is okay, it's not bad, but it's not good. The pho doesn't taste authentic, tastes a bit off.

I most likely wouldn't come back.

Wanted to order a beef bulgogi sub!!! Was basically refused by the manager to make it. He told me he was too busy to make it and that I should come in when it's less busy..... there was three other tables inside..... told me its a process!! I questioned him on the fact that he's telling me I can't order what I want to order. Couldnt believe it!!!ordered beef sate and was not impressed at all. No one asked me what I wanted on my sub whether or not I wanted pickles or carrots or hot sauce or cilantro. When your guest walks in the door, serve them what they want to eat but don't question how long it's going to take to make it. Extremely tacky!!!! Never coming back

Not terrible, not great. What made it worse was my daughter felt sick all night. That was just from a satay sub. With so many Vietnamese places to chose from probably won't be going back

This place is my all time favourite restaurant from which to get Vietnamese subs. Everytime I try them somewhere other than Vietsub I am highly disappointed because my standards are so high now! I always get the veggie tofu sub. The bread is soft, the sauce is delicious and the tofu compliments it perfectly.
The people who work there know me by name and never fail to make me smile when I go in! Absolutely amazing price as well. $5 for a sub that is so big I have to eat it over two meals.

I live right by this place and have been meaning to stop by. I needed a quick lunch so I swung by. Inside decor is definitely nicer than the outside. The prices for everything is pretty acceptable. I ordered the beef sate and shrimp salad rolls. Both were mediocre. I did like how the bread was soft though. I may give this place another chance since it's so close to my house and cheap. We'll see. But I wouldn't drive a distance for it.

We got viet sub in Oct 2nd 4ish.
My husband found plastic on his sub. Cucumber tastes very old too. We couldn't even finish our food. Waste my money today. Food used to be fine this place but not anymore. Never again.

Quick service and food is always good. Not really an 'eating in atmosphere' but good for pick up. We get chicken and beef rice noodle bowls or subs - both are delicious.

We just happened to drop by. I never heard about the place before. My son had a sub and I had the Vermicelli with BBQ chicken lemon grass beef and spring rolls. (B5) It was the best bowl of Bun I have ever had I think. we ordered more spring rolls and bubble tea. all excellent. what a great find. I think the owners are Korean . I couldn't care if they are from the moon. they are doing a great job. good prices too. Bravo.

I have been craving for a viet sub for the past two days so thought I'd swing by here to try it out. Must say, for $6 this is pretty damn good. The bun was nicely toasted and crispy, super filling and filled with flavour. Although service could've been more friendly, it was more of a get-and-go kind of deal.

Soggy bun. Bun wasn't toasted or made right it was soggy white bread . Owner should have thrown these buns out and not charged me nine dollars

Saw good reviews of this place so I gave it a try, as I was craving v subs.

I'm not Vietnamese but didn't think it was authentic at all. A. no traditional cold cut option. B. No butter or pâté. C. Cheese? No. D. Meat was lacking. I opted for the grilled pork option.

I would say one of the worst I had in a while.

Unimpressed. The last couple times we've ordered food from this restaurant, the quality wasn't there. The portions of the meals & soups are small for the price & the meat doesn't taste quite right. The salad rolls are smaller than almost everywhere else. The "special" I ordered consisted of ichiban noodles, chopped green onions & two thin slices of beef with a half tub of broth...WEAK! Won't be returning to get burned a third time! The only fair value comes from the subs, which are tasty & reasonably priced.

Would maybe try again.... I called Vietsub Express to place a pick-up order and spoke with a very friendly woman. I ordered the salad rolls, with chicken instead of shrimp. I don't know much about Vietnamese soups (I typically order chicken vermicelli & spring rolls - I'm a creature of habit, and don't tend to stray from my usuals - but today I was feeling adventurous) so I asked the woman on the phone to suggest a soup that had noodles and was medium-spice. She suggested the beef sate soup, and I agreed. I was greeted by a friendly smile when I picked up the order, and I brought it home. Soup was still nice and steamy hot! I opened one of the soup containers (with the noodles and the beef) and noticed that the beef was raw. Now, forgive me if this is a common sense thing, but as I said I'm not familiar with Viet soups and asked for a recommendation - having said that I'd assume someone would mention something like RAW meat. Anyway, I just skipped the meat (it was saran wrapped separately) and had the noodles and soup broth which was all delicious! Then I tried my salad rolls - first of all they ripped and fell apart as soon as I picked them up, then I noticed that the chicken was SO SO dry I could hardly even swallow it. Dryer than an overcooked turkey! I had to pick it all out and just eat the lettuce and cucumbers, not very pleasing. If I ordered salad rolls from them again, I'd probably stick to shrimp (can't dry that out!). I'd go back again and try a couple of other things because I think the place has potential, and the service was pretty good (aside from neglecting to mention raw meat).

Decent Pho. Had the pho with beef balls. Very tasty, large portion. The restaurant location is convenient. Will have to try more of the menu to give a more full review.

My only grievance was the table being right next to the door--especially on a cold day. But that could be fixed with a curtain...

The owner is quite nice, and friendly. Will be back to see how it is a second time.

Yummers. If it has shredded beef in it, eat it!!
The sauce they use on it is amazing!!!

And one of the cheapest sub prices in town if not the cheapest already.

New owners?. Looks like there are new Korean owners of this place now and menu is split 1/2 and 1/2 between Korean and Vietnamese. No longer have the pate sub which is my favourite. Tried the pork bulgogi and it was not very good, seemed like boiled fatty pork slices with some veggies added. Not much flavour. Disappointing change to say the least.

Doesn't like. I'm really not a picky person, this is the first review I've ever written I just felt it was necessary for people to know. I have attempted this place roughly 5 times( I love this type of food and thought I just had some bad luck in the past at this location). Not once have they gotten my order right, not ONCE. The shrimp is absolutely terrible, once it came frozen in my meal. It's like they constantly mix old chicken with new chicken thinking no one can tell. The peanut sauce that comes with the salad rolls was pure liquid, it seemed like it was soy sauce and fish sauce only. I've had it before (maybe they just changed it) but still it's the worst peanut sauce I've had then. Just everything comes out wrong and not to tasty. I highly don't recommend this place

I read on Urbanspoon that Vietsub Express is under new management. I was curious, as I was previously a fan of the food.

New Ownership. The beef sate sub doesn't have any sate flavour and they've cheaped out on the quantity. And they didn't have any noodle soups (pho) available. It's too bad. We will have to find somewhere else.

I ordered the Buddhas veggie sub- it's the only vegetarian bahn mi they had. I assumed it would have tofu on it and was a little bit dissapointed when it didn't. The lack of protein substance made the sandwich seem bread heavy.

One of my favourite food finds was Vietsub Express. Located next to the 7-Eleven on 37 th Street, this hole in the wall offered food that was cheap, fast and filling. I’ve sampled both the pork and chicken sub ($5.00).

Cheap subs. We ordered a chicken and grilled pork sub, sans cilantro. The pork had a nice bbq taste to it. The chicken version was more of a substantial sub (i.e. more meat) than the pork. I could taste some peanuts in the mixture of a cubed cucumber, jalapenos and onions. I really liked the addition of the jalapenos - it added this nice crunchy, spicy element. Personally, I'd like more veggies but the flavour was there. The baguette was quite crusty on the outside. Best deal in town - $5.00 for a 10 inch plus a pop = $5.75. I also sampled a chicken and springroll vermicelli bowl. Lots of food - for once in my life - I couldn't finish my entree. Tasty springrolls. Good spot for something fast and cheap.

Other than the fact that I found a small piece of plastic in my chicken sate sub, it was really good. $5 for a sub with a fresh bun and fresh toppings is an amazing deal. They even washed the cilantro. Next time, no plastic and extra hot sauce, please!

Best price and good quality food.. The big sign really caught my attention at first. After eating at the place. I would totally recommend friends and family to try it out. So far 5 out 5 really enjoy the food. What's make it great it's their style of grab and go or sit ( less hassle). As a PHO lover myself, I would try their special and vermicelli (#B6).

Hit or miss. The subs are the star here. Only $5 - filled with meat (I like the charbroiled pork), jalapeƱos, cilantro, carrot and cucumber. I ordered the shrimp salad rolls once and the shrimp was not good - smelly and slimy.

Cheap eats !. This particular place is located between 7-11 and a middle eastern grocery store (Gandour).

The layout inside is similiar to a 'fast food' restaurant; when you walk in you will see their menu above the front counter. When you are ready to order, you go up to the front counter and order by number.

The girl at the front counter was friendly, and took our order immediately.

Ordered the combo 1, sub and a pop - $5.75. If you order the sub by itself, it is only $5.

The sub I chose was the charbroiled pork. I have to say it was pretty good. I usually don't like the shredded carrots at vietnamese restaurants (I usually find them tasteless), but here at Vietsub Express it wasn't pickled but sweet. Adding it to the sub gave it an extra layer of flavour. I opted for no cilantro - and I found the jalapenos to be very hot.

Overall, the sub was good, the bread had a nice 'crunch' on the outside but tender and moist on the inside. There was a sprinkling of peanuts in the sub, and the sauce and the shredded carrots added a unique dept to the overall taste.

I also picked up the hot bbq chicken wings (#19). It wasn't that spicy, very mild heat to it. The chicken wings contained mostly the mid section of the wing, I think there was only 1-2 drummettes. It was fried well, the outside was crunchy but moist on the inside, however I found the ends of the wing to be a tad on the dry side.

The entire meal was good, the prices are definitely cheap, Vietsub is well worth the price of admission ! Will be back again for sure !

Best Inexpensive Vietnamese on West Side. Great value in the food at this small, primarily takeout Vietnamese place (there are maybe 5-6 tables).

$5.00 subs - didn't really like the sate chicken but the sate beef is very good and great value on the various pho dishes and bun. It is about 10-15% cheaper and better quality than other Vietnamese places on the west side of town.

Not much of atmosphere, but good food and value.

2.5/5 - The washroom is clean!. I ordered the sate beef sub and number 8 soup (pho nam). The sub was good and it would be something I would order again. I have ate the assorted cold cut sub here before as well and it was something I would order again.

My disappointment was the pho nam (no. 8). There was an over powering taste of fish sauce and it just didn't seem right. For one thing, I didn't know that fish sauce was added to the soup (to my knowledge from what I have tasted in my pho eating life and from watching my mom make it). I thought it was always a personal preference thing which I never liked.

All in all, the price is definitely right to get a quick fix of your Vietnamese food. Like I said, the sub will be good enough. I am also impressed at how clean their wash room is! This was definitely unexpected.

Thank you!. I love Banh Mi (Vietsubs) and having grown up in the NE you didn't have to go far. But having lived in the Westhills for the past 10 years, I'd have to trek all the way back to the east for my fix or down to 17th ave downtown or chinatown. But having a good sub place close to my house is a god send. now I can pick one up from my way back home or after the gym.

I tried the Assorted Meat (traditional viet cold cut) Banh Mi, which was delicious, I would like to have more pate on it though next time. I also ordered some Bun (rice vermicelli) The Charbroiled Shredded Beef with spring rolls. Their portions are huge and the Bun was very good. fresh and delicious. I also like how the fish sauce was a big size as well to accomodate the big portion. For a refreshing drink, I had a taro bubble Tea.

This place had it all. And the Best thing about it, is that they deliver. Good Lord. Thank you VietSub Express! you made my stomach happy and my personal gym trainer employed. haha.

A++
