Highstakes

My son and I enjoyed our evening meal at high stakes. I had a peanut free Penang with rice noodles and it was delicious. My son had a chicken burger which he said was lovely. We had a lovely quiet evening meal. Place is a bit hard to spot and we walked past it but we recommend it to anyone looking for a little gem to try.

Chanced upon this place whilst walking through Buxton with my family. Nice to see a decent independent eatery/ place to have a drink. The food was great. Burgers were perfect, chicken crispy and just the right amount of sauce and prep of bun. Side of chips was well cooked and was at the correct serving temp. 10/10 for the food! However to be critical, (which I generally am to better such vendors, to which is my intent in review);; Sauces were poor. You may think I’m being petty but if I want Mayo on my chips, I like decent Mayo. Offered was such 2nd rate sachets found at burger vans. There was a paving slab on the steps to the rear area that was loose. I saw 2 people trip up on it whilst there. I spoke to the owner regarding sauces and this was down to budget and inflating costs. I feel for him. Great venue. Needs slight improvement.

Brilliant as ever! Very friendly staff! Love the new décor and the new menu is great! It combines all the classic highsteak favourites with some awesome new Thai dishes! I would 10/10 recommend! Especially if you can't decide on a cuisine, they have lots to choose, and a lovely atmosphere, perfect for date night! 💕

Came across this place by accident on a quiet Monday evening while working in the area. The smell .from outside was amazing. Service was quick and friendly. I ordered the halloumi veggie burger witg upgraded loaded fries and my colleague went for the rack of ribs. Take a look at the photos, the portions are really generous!!! The flavours and presentation were outstanding! I will definitely return next time I'm staying in the area. Looking forward to trying the other things on the menu.

If I could put 6 stars here I would have!!!! lol anyways I was saying… this place is amazing, great friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere with enjoyable music, the food was beautiful, not greasy and was good quality, it had a lot of flavour, I had the jackfruit chilli and it was perfect in every way, really made a lovely evening here, the service was fast and the whole experience was amazing, I’d revisit any day! Thank you for having me! Also shout out big shout out to Stephen who served us, he was so welcoming and friendly and made the whole experience great!
