Cute little restaurant, had great vibes. The only thing we didn’t like was the sound the rooster makes every time someone walks in lol

10 out of 10! LOVE IT. I came here for a late lunch with my family, as a surprise for my mom (who had been dying to come here). We ordered 1 of every app and 4 entrees, all of it was excellent. Came out the kitchen in good time. The staff was polite and friendly. Easy to say The Freakin' Rican left a long lasting impression on us. We appreciated being greeted by the soothing sounds of coqui. It was also a great feeling to see the owner/founder hard at work, making culinary magic in the kitchen.

If you’re looking for real Puerto Rican food, definitely check this place out! I came here with glowing recommendations, and have come back every time I’m in queens. I can’t say enough about this place. The owner and staff are so friendly and kind. Lastly, the vibe is amazing. They have salsa playing and the coqui in the background. Definitely worth trying!

Update 11-1-23* I just returned from vacation and seen your response. Thank you for replying however th timing is not valid. We were there at 5pm which was after the break. I would love to hear your thoughts and have an update. ** I took my mom here for her birthday. She saw the restaurant on TV and wanted to go. Definitely a small place and do not take reservations. Even if you are coming from Jersey. The decor waa good and Definitely remind me of Puerto Rico. The food was amazing. Even for my mom who is a critic for P.R. food. She is a boricua who can cook and you know how that goes. The only thing I can complain or say is that I felt we were being rushed to pick our entree. The lady came like 5 times in a matter of 2 minutes asking if we were ready. You can tell we wasn't especially we both were looking at the menus. I believe in good customer service however it was too extra. Let us enjoy the Aviance ans not feel rushed to pick our food. I know it's a small place ans they want to get people who are Waiting inside however there should be a balance. Other than that it was DELISH!

I had heard great things about The Freakin Rican from ads and News features. My expectations were pretty high, and they were all met or surpassed. The food was fantastic; you won't find anything better. But what really impressed me was the service. The workload was handled by one waiter, Mateo, who was attentive to all the tables. He was friendly, professional, welcoming, and understanding. The hostess and an assistant made sure everything else went smoothly. We felt completely at home. Oh, my three friends were totally blind. They needed, and were given just the right amount of special care to make the meal work for all of us. We are all still talking about the great food and how soon we will be back.

Staff was kind to guide me how to order and explain price is measured by pound. I got ribs and sirloin from BBQ counter, and it was about $18. I was so satisfied after finishing it. They have a TV, so I saw World Cup 2022 game. Great place to dine.

First of all excellent service !!! The waiter was amazing with checking in on us etc… On the other hand the food was perfect! The portions were good and it got me full. Price wise I think it’s affordable depending on what you order. My favorite dessert was the lemon sorbet. It was delicious and it was something that you just wanted more of. Overall I recommend this place to anyone that wants to dine in because it has both an excellent service and amazing food.

The best pernil I've had in a restaurant! Tender, flavorful, juicy. Paired with trifongo which was absolutely sublime. We had alcapurria as a stater and it was the real thing. My husband has bistek encebollado and arroz con gandules which we would rate at a 3.5 - 4. A bit too dry, both, and the bistek should have been trimmed. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was great, it felt like home. There was a bit of a wait, but it was worth it.
