Black Bear Bbq

I had the barbecue soy curls which were great! You get a large portion if you order the plate with two sides and cornbread. I thought the baked beans, cornbread and vinegar slaw were quite good. All vegan as well. Only downside was I wasn't a fan of the collards (vegan as well and likely hard to get the same flavor). The staff was very nice and accommodating while ordering. I will be back!

After a delicious pork BBQ platter a few weeks ago in the restaurant, I noticed they were offering Thanksgiving meal prep to go. We ordered the smoked turkey breast, broccoli casserole, sweet potato casserole, cornbread stuffing, mac & cheese, cranberry sauce, and gravy. Picked it up yesterday along with heating instructions. Had an absolutely delicious Thanksgiving lunch on the table in no time, and now we have leftovers to enjoy for the next several days. Highly recommend anything on the menu, and already planning to order Thanksgiving lunch again next year!

We stopped in after a drive up and down the parkway, to fuel up before heading home. How do people not know about this place? The people at the counter and in the kitchen were all so kind and fun, and loved the costumes for Halloween. Their suggestions were top notch, the food was DELICIOUS, and loved the decor. I REALLY wanted the moose painting. The meat was perfectly cooked, with ribs that had that good crunch outside and delicious inside. The mustard sauce was perfect with the chicken and pulled pork. Mac n cheese and broccoli casserole are both clearly home made (in the best way) and we’re tasty! My fave was a tie between the green beans and the cucumber salad. Somehow the Family 4 meal was more food than we could eat and we wound up bringing some home with us. I wish I had more pics, but trust me, the food is worth the trip and experience. We’ll be back!

What a find! This is a really cute place that I happened upon. It is spacious inside with fun seating options but the best part of my day was eating their DELICIOUS chopped pork bbq sandwich. It was slightly greasy goodness to the last bite. The pork had the best smokiness yet was so tender. I asked for it with slaw on plus the sweet and tangy sauce. Fantastic!! And the service was topnotch even though I was there at an off time. Convenient to freeways and lots of shops in the center there. Make sure you check their limited hours!

Literally the best ribs I have ever had were had today at Black Bear BBQ. Get the dry rub, just trust me! My family and daughters came today and tried the family sampler platter with green beans, broccoli casserole, Mac and cheese, and sweet potato casserole. The pulled pork was my mom’s favorite, the smoked sausage was incredible, the smoked chicken hit the spot for my girls and the ribs obviously rocked my world. The sides were all amazing, but I have a soft spot for broccoli casserole. Just takes me back to pot lucks at southern churches growing up as a kid. The food was all amazing but the staff, restaurant, cleanliness all shined. The owner came out and offered us some banana puddings for my kiddos and we all enjoyed it! I am so glad we came here today and if you’re roaming through Asheville and love bbq, don’t let this one pass you by!
