Got the okra fries. They were gone pretty quick. Main meal was Sloppy Jai's. Sloppy Joe's with lamb and Indian spices. The best I've ever had. I usually dont order Sloppy Joes, or even like them. But this burger is something else. Would definitely recommend these dishes and the restaurant.

Very interesting menu, creative. Definitely a good place to try Indian street food.
So popular. Knowing someone from the south went to India to learn Indian street food and opening an authentic India restaurant is just mystifyingly, very impressed. Serving in steel plates, the old movie posters and just the creative drink names is so unique.

I came here on 3 hours of sleep and feeling mind wiped from a day of traveling. I came to Chai Pani, a weary traveler seeking some kindness, sustainance, and the warm glow of Southern hospitality. I got more than I bargained for. I was awakened in more ways than one. Spiritually. Mentally. Physically. I became a disciple to the ways of Chai Pani. Was I in a mentally vulnerable position? Absolutely. Do I have any regrets? Absolutely not. I drank the koolaide looking cocktail with the smoky salt rim and licked my chops for days afterward.

Wow!! Simply amazing
I am very proud to see the Indian restaurant has got its own charisma.
Pro’s
- location: Asheville downtown
- vibe
- great ambience
- lovely interior with all the Indian culture. It also display lot of 70’s to 90’s Bollywood movie actors everywhere.
- customer service was top notch, we had large party for 20!! We are very happy that everyone had the great time.
- food has limited options, it was really nice.
Kale pakoras, thali, Kathi roll, pav bhaji and many more.
Cons
- queue in evening hours, that is something we have be prepared. Around 5, on any day we can see the queue will start and within 10-15 minutes more than 100 people are in the queue.
So we have to get in line around 5 , that will save your time.

Food is good! But, it’s highly overrated!
Not worth the wait! Wait time is very high on any weekend!
Food options are very limited!
Some dishes are sub par! Chicken pakora is not up to the mark at all!
Okra fry is good! Most dishes are good but nothing extraordinary! Everyone in our group felt the same!
Parking situation is terrible!
If you are visiting as a group, plan to be sit atleast for an hour!

this place is very recommended but it's not really worth it. the wait is extremely long, and the food isn't mind blowing. the butter chicken was very spicy for me, SPDP was amazing and the aloo tikki chaat was really good. also the parantha is delicious. their menu is just a paper version, not very extensive. the atmosphere and decorations are lovely though.

Wait time was limited and despite the surrounding construction, they moved through seating everyone very quickly. We waited perhaps 10-15 minutes and it was well worth the wait. The food was excellent, very different than what we normally experience. This is a must visit for anyone that loves Indian food. Had the Vada Pac and Chicken Kathi Roll, both very tasty. Also had the coffee which was also very good.

INCREDIBLE!! Wait time to a table was 25 minutes, but the food and service exceeded my expectations entirely. We were a 11 person party seated outside and our server, Jen, was so patient and gracious of our huge order. Every one of the dishes was more authentic Indian food than I’ve had in America yet. The okra fries and kale pakora were standout winners, and the other dishes were super flavorful as well. Definitely coming back, this restaurant is worth the wait.

No wonder this place is voted the best Indian restaurant in the US. The wait was for a while to get a table and seated. But, the taste was worth the wait though. Okra fries, SPDP and lamb burgers were highlight and goes well with the cardamom old fashioned. Would definitely recommend this place for a quick bite with family and friends. The wait times might seem crazy at time depending on when you arrive at the location. But, TRUST ME! THE TASTE IS DEFINITELY WORTH THE WAIT! YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED.

This place serves really good casual Indian street food. Our server Mario was very personable. The Desi salad is amazingly tasty and the crispy masala fish wrap was delicious. The mango lasso was perfect 😋 Love it and will go back to try different menu items.
