The food is normally good. However, the service and friendliness has taken a real downturn. When they first opened, the customers were welcome with friendly greetings and had real engagement from the staff. Now you get more engagement at a drive thru. Sad to see this as it will be their downfall over time.

I have always enjoyed eating here until this past Sunday Oct/20 . The Chicken Picasso was so hot I was having trouble eating it , I had no idea chicken was not the only ingredient in my dish . I found a hard piece of something and I took it out of my mouth and laid it aside . I was rushed to get back home and I didn't pay any attention to it and at the end of my meal I notice I had something stuck in my jaw tooth . It was brown paper rolled up !! I pulled it out and it was about 2" long and a quarter inch wide . I then checked the piece I found earlier and it also was rolled up paper about two inches long !! At that point I was sick and I showed my Waiter the paper and he only grunted so sorry . I told he Owner when I checked out and he also says , so sorry . I have picked pieces of paper out of my teeth all evening at church ! I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN ! BETTER CHECK FOOD YOUR KIDS EAT ? They could choke on pieces of paper like I got ! I also have a big blister on my upper lip this morning I think from the hot flavor in the food or whatever I ate there ???

I used to live in Harlan KY where there was another El Charrito restaurant which was great. I was so glad when they decided to open a restaurant in Wise, Virginia. They have very friendly and efficient wait staff. Food is fantastic and in large portions. Their menu is pretty expansive. They now have their liquor license and typically have very good drink specials going on. This is a great place for family dining and/or social gatherings such as birthdays. Highly recommended.

The food is authentic Mexican cuisine at it's finest, anybody who's traveled south of the border will recognize that little something that says, this is the real Mcoy. The staff have always made me feel right at home plus there little to no wait times between getting a drink with homemade tortilla chips and salsa and receiving your entree. Auden Roman the manager is an exceptionally wonderful host whose always got the time to insure that your needs are exceeding your expectations.
