Mr Chips

A surprisingly imaginative range of lovely food served by friendly, smiling staff who didn't bat an eyelid when our party of seven blustered in out of the rain unannounced . We were politely ushered to a table and made to feel very welcome. We hadn't expected a wide range of options but the menu was a revelation. I had a gorgeous seafood chowder, others tucked into a fabulous luxury seafood casserole, sumptuous fish bouillabaisse and traditional fish and chips. There was a range of sustainably-sourced fish, from the restaurant's Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) accredited fish merchants. Vegetarian dishes are on offer too if you ask staff 🤩

Wow! And dog friendly too 👍. Definitely has changed my direction of fish shops/restaurants coming here today with a couple who have also changed from their regular. No photos but I can guarantee that our choice of food today was 100%. Hot, plentiful, tasty and well worth the price. Can't wait to go back to experience another choice from their enticing menu 😋 xx

Excellent restaurant - we had the lobster and it was absolutely superb and great value. This chef clearly knows what they are doing and was very sensitive to coeliac needs and other dietary requirements. The waiting staff were very professional and efficient and couldn’t do enough to make sure we had a great meal - which we did! Cannot fault this place, we will be back.

Whenever we come to Whitby, and fancy Fish and Chips, we come here. Either eat in or take away, we have never had a bad meal. The food is always cooked great, hot and crispy batter and chips. There isn’t a pool of fat after finishing, and portion sizes are acceptableZ The only negative is when I don’t fancy Fish is the sausages aren’t that good. I wasn’t that impressed with it. We currently nip out on a Friday after work and have a Chippy tea. This place is within an hour of home, and fits the bill. We tend to park outside, I wait in the van and Mrs gets the food. Then drive to somewhere scenic to eat.

Had a takeaway Haddock Supper portion size good. Value for money. Perfect crispy batter. Freshly cooked. Negatives we didn’t realise the skin was on the fish prior to ordering had to pick it off maybe offer option without. It’s a must visit we’ve been coming to Whitby for years and always ate on the other side of the water. This I would say the best so far.
