Traktir Restaurant

Traktir is a delightful restaurant with delicious traditional Russian comfort food and a charming patio. Weekday lunch specials are a particularly good bargain, served with your choice of traditional borscht or salad. I started with a carafe of dried fruit juice. It tastes like apricot honey, and it's very refreshing. Five stars. The service is excellent and the servers are fluent in Russian. I ordered in Russian, and I got a big smile from my server, my accent is pretty bad. Russians who are nostalgic for home will be delighted and Russian food novices will be encouraged to to try something new. I ordered the borscht and it was amazing. This traditional soup is filling and flavorful. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially for the patio on a sunny day.

Seems like to be a famous place for birthday parties among Russians, which makes you believe in the authenticity of the food. The chicken blintzes have a deep savory taste that you will enjoy. Although I am not a big fan of soups, the Borscht presenting its combo of well spiced (not hot) and sweet note from the beets amazed me. The potatoe Vareniki are potatoe filled dumplings receiving their taste from caramelized onions on top, simple and good. The dessert, the traditional cake, was not so much my favorite. It's Russian style stacked pancakes with some cream filling and chocolate sauce on top. The restaurant offers parking in the back.

Food and service was fantastic. It's nice to see some traditional Russian food is still left in the neighborhood. I was lucky enough to have family style and eat most of the dishes, not one was undelicious. And the flavored vodkas are even better. My suggestion is to go there with four people and order family style. Work with the staff to order half dishes of things and try as much as you can.
