Panera Bread

Pretty much everyone has been to this chain, and the Walnut Creek location is no different from all the others. It's a good lunch spot for a salad, sandwich or soup. There is coffee and pastries. I'm not a generally not chain restaurant sort of girl, but they have their place. Cheap, decent food, and easy. Free parking in the attached garage on the top levels or metered street parking.

Food is really good tomato soup and chicken salad sandwich, service is fast and very polite. The cashier is very sweet, he made my day! My only complaint is the crazy amount of loud, f-bombing high school studentsfrom Las Lomas who "hang" out inside the restaurant and only order a drink (or order a water and steal from the machine BTW) or beg off their friends. The kids wrestling by the door should have been kicked out, but nooooo we just stepped over them. Will not be coming back to this location on Fridays or Saturdays.

Ate there today and I'm not planning to go back to this particular location (I've been to other paneras and they're usually okay). I got a turkey avocado sandwich, apple, and a large coffee. The hazelnut coffee was unremarkable. However, the turkey-avocado sandwich was disgusting. It took about 5 painful minutes to make; I had no idea why it took so long. (I was watching her... It's only putting turkey chunks and avocado on sliced bread! She slooooowly removed the bread and then sloooooooowly walked around looking for the knife and slooooowly spread the mayo). The avocado was particularly offensive. Avocado should be soft, creamy, and buttery. This avocado was CHEWY. Chewy and tasteless. The turkey chunks were cold, bland, and wet. Ugh. To add insult to injury (I threw away the sandwich after two bites - the second bite was because I was hungry), I dug in the bag to pull out the apple. There was a giant brown gash through it. I throw away better apples when I volunteer for the foodbank. If I haven't made it abundantly clear, I was extremely disappointed.
