Blue Nile

I love this restaurant! We visit occasionally through the years and we're so happy that they are open again for in-restaurant dining. The food is delicious! Because the buffet allows us to sample a bit of everything, I mostly forget what it is I have on my plate. Fortunately every dish is a winner! We also enjoy the welcoming hospitality of that proprietors and staff! If you're in the area you need to dine here.

WOW this place is amazing!! I had never tried East African food before eating here, but I am absolutely addicted now. You really can't go wrong with whatever you order. I regularly get the Chef's Favourite platter as takeout and am satisfied every single time. The portions are quite hefty too so you will NOT be left hungry! This place also got me addicted to lentils - which I previously hated! If you're thinking of giving this place a try absolutely do it - you will not regret anything you get here :)

Blue Nile recently re-opened for dine in service and we thought we would try it out. We have been to a few similar places in Vancouver where the food is brought to you on injera (the regional flatbread) and you use it in place of conventional cutlery to scoop up what's on your plate. Blue Nile was on par with other Ethiopian restaurants we have tried, if not better. My fiancee had the buffet and I had the a Siga Zebhi Combo (beef dish). Generally speaking all dishes were fairly decent. The only small complaint was that the lentils in the buffet were a bit dried out and may have been out for some time. This is the only restaurant offering this style/region of cuisine that we have happened upon thus far in Victoria, and I'm happy that dining at the restaurant is now an option (it was takeout only before). Will likely do the buffet myself next time we visit.

I have eaten here many time! Just wanted to try to give you a review as good as your food. The owners are so friendly and amazing. Pre covid I always felt so welcomed into their restaurant and was greeted with a smile and great service. The buffet was always amazing and super reasonably priced. Now they are just doing take out it is still amazing portions for the price! I love coming here and the food is amazing ! Great work guys and I’m glad your still open for business with all the craziness covid has caused the the restaurant business!

3 of us ordered for takeout and hardly said a word while we ate. It was so damn good and unlike any else we've had in Victoria. Location was slightly out of the way, but well worth the trip. Got the meat lovers plate for myself and we shared the spinach dish. Will most definitely be eating here again.

I had the Managers Favourite platter and OMG I now want to eat here everyday. Such great tasting food. Reasonable price. Large portions. Absolutely recommend trying this place. Just be aware that the foods marked as spicy are VERY SPICY. My boyfriend got the Meat Lovers platter and I couldn't eat most of it because of how spicy it was- but it was still delicious through the burn.
