Taco Bell

I don’t expect much out of a Taco Bell order. It’s an indulgent post-bar treat to capstone my myriad of poor decisions of the evening. It’s meant to be adequate. Filling. Sustenance. Tonight… was different. Tonight, I ordered a Doordash order with this Taco Bell which I expect to be disappointment accompanied by missing fire sauce packets I definitely asked for. No. Tonight, there were heroes assembling my post-PBR feast. Who are these unsung heroes on the late evening shift at Wetmore Taco Bell? Who are these gladiators of the Bell Grande? My humble champions? I am a changed man. Portions? Decadent. Exquisite execution on a recipe enjoyed by millions, yet a one in a million delivery on a quaint Sunday morning. I do not know you, nor would I like you. Yes, a wise man once told me- never meet your heroes. So as I write this, my nachos chilling in my quiet apartment … I salute you.

This is one of the slowest Taco Bells I've been to. It takes forever to get your meal. With that said, my order is always correct. Guess perfection takes time. The tables inside are not cleaned frequently enough. There are few to no clean tables to choose from when dining in. The soda bar is no longer accessible. The paying customers are inconvienced due to the non-paying guests. There has to be another way than having to wait in line again for a drink refill.

This location is usually pretty good. I always order in the app and often customize, and they almost always get the order right. There's been a few times where I'm missing sour cream or tomatoes on a supreme taco, but a call and they're always fine with me coming to get it fixed or just replace at a later time. Quality of construction is always good. I never received anything really messy, sloppy or incomplete. Temperature is usually good, but sometimes I get a chalupa where the shell is actually kind of cold. The only real negative is sometimes, especially late evening or early am, the beef used in tacos and such isn't good. It's pretty dry and tasteless, but I suppose I can't expect it fresh at those times.

We had the chicken Supreme chalupa combo, and normally, it is packed pretty well with the toppings past Sunday it was lacking the fullness that it usually has. I got a soft taco instead of the hard shell, and it was basically a tortilla with a little meat, lettuce, and cheese. I am very disappointed in this visit.
