The Playground Bar is a great name for this establishment since it prepares you for the joyful, carefree atmosphere that you will be enjoying when you stop in for some fun and libations. Late at night the rooftop bar is the place to watch the street action below. Similarly, you simply must come on a Sunday to enjoy the First Church of the Mariachis. This group of talented musicians give it their all and cruise slowly, table by table, throughout the entire ground floor of the lounge, singing one or two favorites at each table. I requested Herb Alpert and I got two from the 1970's done perfectly and with gusto. After they finished their first set and took a break, the Mariachi band leader then confided in me that it was Herb Alpert who set him on his present-day career. Chance? No, it all happened in church my friends. It was serendipity....

Night life here is always a great time! Been coming here since college, and I always find myself coming back. Haven't sat down to have their food yet, but maybe someday that'll be in the cards. My food rating is then based on drinks at the bar. Upstairs and downstairs vibes are very different, with upstairs being more rowdy.
