El Charro

Service was nice, the place was practically empty so I felt safe sitting down. I did notice how they shut off tables & booths so if there were more people then we would've been pretty distant from each other. My first time eating their food was a takeout order so I was pretty familiar and knew what I wanted. However, I tried something new and didn't like it. It was the chicken chimichangas and I had them add cheese on top, my mistake! My server was understanding when I wanted to send them back. I got the good ole chicken enchiladas! I had the rice & fries on the side. I got chips and salsa and a nacho as an appetizer. Their concept of a nacho is pretty cool. One big chip with cheese and jalapeños was different. Next time I'll try a margarita when I'm not driving!

I came here to try the puffy tacos. I have to say I was not a big fan of them. They were a little too chewy for my taste. The service was great Danielle was great. I thought the salsa was pretty tasty with the chips and salsa, and the beans and rice were delicious. I also thought it was a little pricey for the quantity of food I got. I will come back and try other menu items.

There isn’t much to be impressed with at El Charro. The tortilla chips they provide are thin and flimsy - the On The Border brand are much better than what they serve here. The sauce that goes along with the tortilla chips is watery but decent. I also had a margarita which was on the lower end of okay. The food in general has little to no flavor. The shredded chicken is bland and tasted cheap. My partner didn’t enjoy the rice either. I would not recommend this place. Service was good.

This review may be augmented once ive been able to try the tamales. So far though...this shredded beef is amazing!!!! Frijoles nice soft and fluffy not runny. I'm pleasantly surprised. Previously we mostly went to Mexico city in warren, but that's far from us. This is up the road. Once troy construction wraps up it'll be a 5 minute drive up the street. Entrees have A LOT of food. Hearty portions

Pretty solid experience. I'd like to give it 3.5, but I feel like it's closer to a 4 than a 3 so I have to compromise. Not the best by any means, but the prices were reasonable, the food was decent, and the service was quick and friendly. If you go, try the puffy tacos. The enchiladas weren't interesting enough to warrant a second visit but the textural anomaly that these bring is the most noteworthy part of the dining experience. It won't be a staple for me but I'll definitely be back
