North 44

Valet parking offered for $15. Green P parking on Sherwood and Yonge for $6. Free street parking if you're willing to drive around +/- walking further. Was immediately greeted by friendly hostess. Excellent wait staff trying their best to accommodate everyone. Tuna capaccio appetizer a must try. Several vegetarian options, but can always ask. Truffle risotto was delightful and full of mushrooms and root vegetables. Worth the price.

I really really hate to give N44 a 2 star rating but I am and here is why. North 44 used to be the place to go to for a gourmet fusion experience. Service food...outstanding. And now Ill tell u my experience last night. My husband and I have been going to N44 for twenty years. It was our favorite up until the last three or so yrs. So the wine we wanted wasn't available. The waiter was slow, unprofessional, and to be honest pretty clueless. The salad I ordered never came. I had to ask him if there were any specials besides what was on the menu because he never told us which is pretty standard in even a lower class restaurant. Hubby wanted to Chilean sea bass...which was on the off menu specials. well it wasn't avail. Then he ordered the sole which was supposed to be in a light cream sauce...he got a cold, dry huge fillet of fish that he said tasted like lamb..bizarre! I had the scallops which were also cold...tasteless. Im being honest when i say it wasn't much better than the pickle barrel. They used to be gourmet and there food presentation and service was perfect. And now they still charge 5star prices but they are far from five stars. The manager offered us complimentary dessert. No thanks...that was an insult. As there were many mistakes...slow lazy waiter....cold tasteless food, menu items not available......he took the wine (half bottle) off and my husbands sole fish dinner. We wont be going back!! I have good memories of that place when it was what it still claims to be!

Probably the most expensive meal I've ever bought, and probably the best I've ever eaten. I literally left this restaurant asking myself what have I been eating my whole life. Every bite of every dish was perfect. Everything they served was so beautiful it put magazines to shame. I ate very slowly, appreciating the complex flavours. Masterful chefs. I couldn't help but take photos of my food like a bumpkin. What an experience. I'm almost afraid to return for fear that it will spoil ordinary food forever.

Last night was my first time dining at North 44, and I was absolutely blown away! My amazing experience began when the restaurant called earlier in the day to confirm my reservation. I don't recall his name who called, but it was a manager from North 44. He was very pleasant and professional, and had me looking forward to dining with them. When we arrived, the valet was welcoming and warm. Our server Alexandra was outstanding!! My boyfriend and I can't decide what was better, the service or the food. Both were THAT good. We had the seared diver scallops, which were cooked perfectly. It was seared with a watercress puree and a tempura onion ring, it was a perfect pairing. We ordered the rack of lamb as the main. We couldn't decide what to get on the side, so Alexandra made some recommendations. We love brussel sprouts, but noticed they were not on the menu. Alexandra went to check with the kitchen to see if they could do a side of them for us, and they were happy to accommodate our request. We had mentioned that we had not tried Fiddleheads before, when our dinner arrived she had the chef add a few Fiddleheads to our dish for us to try! After our dinner we were too full to order dessert, so she brought us over a couple of bite sized profiteroles. They were incredible, and the perfect end to an amazing meal. What a wonderful dining experience. Can't wait to go back again, and again.
