Had chicken fingers with fries, very tasty and large serving. Saturday Eve at 5:15, mostly empty dinning room. Service was good, a bit slow but looked like only one waitress working , restroom was clean as was the eating area. Recommend.

I went to Black Bear Diner with my sister and we had an excellent breakfast. I had the Bear's Choice with Bacon. I am particular about my bacon and eggs and ordered my bacon towards the crispier side and eggs over medium. It was perfection! My sister had one of the omelets and she was happy with her choice. Great coffee too! Our server, John, handled our order with a smile. He suggested we try the Almond Bear Claw and boy, it did not disappoint. It was so big we had to take most of it home to enjoy later. All in all, we would recommend Black Bear in Tempe. Very good!

My husband and I went to Black Bear Diner this past weekend and had the Prime Rib dinner. It was excellent! The meat was cooked to our specifications and very tender. Our server, John, was busy with other tables but still provided friendly and efficient service. As always, love the cute decor!

We had a great experience at black bear diner. I wish I could remember our server's name. But she was very friendly and joyous. Such hospitality! We felt welcomed! Food was delicious! We definitely will be coming back!

We came to pheonix to purchase a camper and on the way back to Tucson we stopped here to grab a bite to eat. We arrived 45 minutes before close and the server seemed a bit annoyed which is understandable since it was almost closing time BUT she did keep our drinks full, provided extra napkins for the Littles and checked in frequently so we left a 30% tip to compensate for coming so late. The food was good. I got the chicken Cobb salad, my fiancee had the bacon cheeseburg salad and the kids had the bear pancake and all of it was delicious. The house made bacon ranch is to die for! All in all if we're ever in the pheonix area again we will definitely stop off here again for a bite to eat and make sure it's way before close!

The staff is excellent. My server Jenny is incredible. All the other servers are great. The cook Richard is second to none, excellent cook he really knows what he is doing. The assistant manager on duty Oscar should be promoted to manager. The hostess Alexandria makes me feel welcome. Even the dishwasher Richard is very custom service oriented. 👍👍👍
NOTE: My recommendation is that Black Bear Diners Corporate should invest in a new location in Tempe, AZ, that has more exposure. The restaurant doesn’t seem to be too busy and it’s kind a hide off of the road in a dark plaza. I really don’t think the public and the community knows it’s here.

Place inside was clean, bathrooms could use some refreshing. No toilet seat covers in any stalls. Limited toilet paper stocked, and toilet paper on ground. Food was good but the biscuits and gravy lacked flavor, it was very bland. But other than that I’d say everything else was good!
