Such a great venue on the busy Crown St, Nick the owner and his team are such great hosts. They have been around for 10 years, they have a great Italian menu and over a dozen tap beers. Congrats on the launch of their very own beer called “Pizza Birra Lager”. The burrata cheese is fresh daily and the pizza and pasta are very flavourful.

I’ve been here few years ago during their “All you can eat pizza” Monday night and I don’t remember why but I was not 100% satisfied. Recently few friends gave me positive feedback about this place, so I decided to go there. I’ve made a booking because on Saturday night I was afraid it could have been too busy, but fortunately for me it was not; I prefer quiet restaurants where I don’t have to scream to talk, and the atmosphere was lovely. Pizzas looked really good, but unfortunately I’ve eaten it cold. Not just because I spent too much time talking while I was eating, but also because when our pizzas arrived to our table they were already cooling down. So I couldn’t understand well the taste because cold pizzas taste differently. I was puzzled about the menu, I’m pretty sure they can afford something better then a dirty, wet, crumpled sheet of paper. Or at least the waitress should check it before giving it to the clients. I had “Bresaola” pizza but I also wanted to try the “PizzaBirra” one because I’ve never eaten yet a pizza with ricotta stuffed crust in Australia. So I’ll go there again to eat that one, hoping to give them 5 stars next time.

Pizza Birra boasts an intimate space, quality food & dining with some delicious wines on offer 👌 I had the pleasure of dining here recently for a second time, and let me tell you the quality of experience has not dropped. The pizzas are always delicious, I personally love the triloses & pruscuitto. The triloses is porcini mushroom & speck topped with a truffle oil 😏 My favourite pastas were the pumpkin gnocchi, seafood marinara which has a good kick of chili and the beef cheek parpadelle! Pair your meal with a glass of chianti & dessert and tour good to go. P.s. recommend the panna cotta with mixed berries or tiramisu for dessert 😜

Intimate little Italian retardant serving homestyle Italian food in Surry Hills. Famous for its pasta and gourmet and traditional pizzas. We tried the fungi pizza with mushrooms, Gorgonzola, mozzarella, and basil. As for the pasta, we went for the Olives, Capers and Seafood Linguine with prawns. They have a good array of entrees and we also really enjoyed the Zucchini flowers stuffed with Ricotta Cheese. There’s also salads, desserts and a kids menu. The interior is cool and it has a bar area that is more casual, but we sat outside taking in the rays. Service is excellent, waitress was very attentive and friendly.

🍕PIZZA BIRRA, SURRY HILLS Craving some Italian food? Pizza birra has got you covered with endless pizzas and pastas to share or just eat it all for yourself! 😋 Their dishes change quite often so it’s nice to try something different each time! My favorites were the: ⭐️Pumpkin gnocchi (I don’t usually eat gnocchi but this one was soft and creamy with the butter and sage sauce ❤️) ⭐️Beef cheek Pappardelle 🍝 ⭐️Both antipasti boards 🍖 ⭐️Triloses Pizza- Taleggio cheese, porcini mushrooms, speck, Parmesan🧀 and truffle oil. Thankyou @foodbloggeraustralia for organising this foodie event & Pizza Birra for the amazing feed :)

Wood fired pizza and Italian food bar on Crown street within an easy stroll from Central Station. The ambience is chilled here, it's a great place to unwind over some good Italian food and a bottle of wine. The creamy Buratta is a great way to start, it goes well with a side of tomato and basil bruschetta. The Stuffed Zucchini Flowers are another winner. The selection of authentic gourmet wood fired pizzas, and pasta dishes are mouthwatering. The Patate, a pizza with potato, rosemary and truffle oil, and the yummy Marinara pasta are our faves. For dessert, you can't go past the Tiramisu. Pizza Birra also offer their own brand of craft beer, the Birra Lager and there are many other beers on tap.

Pizza Birra has taken a front row seat on Crown Street for the last twelve years. In that time, they have undoubtedly seen many a pizza restaurant and chain come and go. Longevity doesn’t come without getting something right, especially in competition-heavy Surry Hills, so I headed on in to find out what it was... I’m not sure it’s the music; though I did gain a new appreciation for Michael Jackson on the night I dined. Good acoustic panelling makes the wall-to-wall Jackson back catalogue sound warm rather than bouncy, no mean feat in what is essentially a concrete and glass space with polished aggregate floors. We ease into the evening with a glass of free wine, because it’s Tuesday, and every diner is gifted with one. The House White ($7) is a surprisingly acceptable New Zealand sauvignon blanc – I’m surprised because I hate the varietal almost uniformly. This one has no cat pee; no gooseberry bush; and no burpy passionfruit. We’re also treated to a bowl of pizza crusts to tide us over while we make a decision. Getting wine and good-tasting bready products the second you arrive makes my often-starving dining companion happy. He even makes a positive comment about not having heard this particular Michael Jackson track before. We kick off our meal with a shared Carpaccio ($21) with a small plate full of thinly sliced beef hidden under a high hedge of dressed rocket and sliced mushrooms. It wanted for a bit of seasoning, but salt and pepper were on the table. This simple dish ain’t no 'Thriller', but it ate well enough against the accompanying garlic toasts - Pizza Birra definitely get bread right. In preparation for our mains we hit up the beer list – beer is, after all, part of the restaurant’s name. From the Italian beer selection, we opt for a Peroni Originale ($8) that’s amber and malty with coarse bubbles, and an Ichnusa ($10) with light, hoppy characters, a creamy head and tiny, Champagne-like bubbles. Carbonara ($23) is a very simple plate of spaghetti with cracked pepper, pecorino cheese and guanciale (cured pork cheek) topped with a raw, organic egg yolk. 'Beat It' through the pasta, and eat the dish quickly – it goes a bit gluggy if it cools – dipping into the chilli oil and Parmesan cheese for more flavour. My menu hit was the Tirolese ($27), a pizza bianca teaming taleggio cheese, porcini mushrooms, speck, Parmesan and truffle oil, on a mozzarella (rather than tomato) base. Pizza Birra use a 48-hour proofing process, and make their pizzas in the Roman style, which sits between thick and thin. It’s cooked slightly longer in the glowing red pizza oven that you can eyeball in the doorway as you wait for a table, and thus has a little more bite in the tasty crust. Yep, their pizzas are definitely the reason that Pizza Birra have survived.
