We ordered a Garlic Cheese Pizza as a starter to share - it never arrived. My friend got his Lasagna 15 minutes before the rest of the table received their pizza. My Palmer Street Pizza came to the table missing the pineapple. The waiter told me he was simply doing his job. The pizza was taken away and brought back with uncooked cold pineapple added to it. My friends then asked if it could be cooked as I was too embarrassed. The pizza came back after it had been grilled. I only ate two slices as it was like eating dry crisp toast. As we were leaving the waiter apologised and gave us a $5 credit on the bill. As a local, I’ve eaten at Bar Reggio many times over the years. It’s usually great however this time it was shocking

Sausage porcini pasta was amazing!! And the portion was huge as well. Ordered the marinara pizza and the pizza crust base was incredibly crispy and I was so in love with it too. We were really full after. Also had the tiramisu cake and ricotta cheesecake, and the ricotta cheesecake was one of the best cheesecakes I’ve ever had. It was incredibly rich. Everything was perfect. Service was great as well.

Delicious italian food! We had the chicken mushroom napoli risotto, PROSCHIUTTO pizza, and a vegetarian napoli pasta, and the homemade Tiramisu. <br/>The risotto and tiramisu were uber licious! The best ive ever had so far. The price is reasonable too. The only thing that need to be improved is the service of taking order (maybe the lack of staff), it took us a while to keep putting our hands up, and they also need to be mindful of those who sit outside, we were out of their sight.

We booked a table for 3 earlier in the week and I’m so glad we did cause the place was pretty packed! Good food and fast service too. The place we were seated at was pretty cramped, so we were all seated very close to each other and the sound was pretty overwhelming. Very hard to have a conversation. But overall, definitely had a good meal!

We came here on a Saturday without a booking and had to come back in half an hour. The place was really busy, even when we left. <br/>We ordered Gnocchi with the Napoli sauce and Penne with the sausage sauce. The Penne was definitely more filling than the Gnocchi. But the Napoli sauce was beautiful and had the perfect mix of spices and flavour. <br/>Overall the price was $33 which was quite reasonable. <br/>The service was fast and efficient.

The place is cozy and busy, very noisy though, don't come here if you're planning to have a nice quiet night.<br/><br/>The place is BYO (with a charge of $2.5 pp). They have an extensive menu, from pizza, pasta to steak and seafood. We got 2 pizzas, a pasta and a risotto to share between 4 of us. The pizza is hot, cheesy and the crust was perfect. We got the sausage and porcini gnocchi and chicken and mushroom risotto. Surprisingly, the risotto is tomato based! All food is delicious and filled us up at the end! <br/><br/>We had an amazing night, very fast and friendly service and very affordable price!

There is my favorite Italian restaurant in Sydney. My lovely dishes are boscaiola fettecini, creamy resitto, supreme pizza and garlic. The pasta is one of the best I ate in sydney. Very tasty and delicious. And the price is not expensive, nice.

Huge platters laden with spaghetti, a creamy penne boscaiola, and a spicy creamy fettuccini. I'm instantly attracted to anything with cream and the penne for me was a hit. <br/><br/>But it doesn't stop there. Pizza time! Let me just unzip my dress a bit because I'm running out of room. Keep that in mind when you go, wear stretchy clothes! All of the pizzas came out, cheese, a cheese and spinach, pepperoni, meat lovers. The gang was all there. Nice thin crunchy crust and plenty of cheese. <br/><br/>Surely you'd think that would be it, but of course we needed some protein in the diet! I did not have great expectations for this place when going on a busy Friday night just before Christmas, The place was super noisy and the menu looked uninspiring. But we had the best dishes all round (there were 7 of us). Even the fish was perfectly cooked, which seems to be a challenge for a lot of places on a busy Friday night. Service was great and a $2.50 BYO was a bonus. We will be back, on a quieter night soon !

Given that I work on William Street, Reggio is only a short walk. What's most disappointing is that we didn't come here early enough to discover their food. It is classic, quality Italian food with a serving size that can seriously fill you up! A great surprise for us, and we'll be sure to come back next time.

Bar Reggio seem to be known for their big, hearty portions, and everyone else on the table was full to the brim… and then there I was, still looking around for more. But you should probably go with the majority on this one, you’ll most likely leave with a happy, full stomach. And regardless, the food was tasty and depending on what you order, it can be a pretty cheap meal.<br/><br/>Not sure if they only take lots of 6:30pm and 8:30pm bookings, but we were part of the 8:30 slot along with a few other groups waiting outside. This place was still loud and bustling into the night.<br/><br/>Every dish looked great and seemed to be enjoyed by everyone for the most part. There was also a joint agreement that the vegetarian risotto was a standout.

Loved it - a great place to spend a low key night with friends and byo too makes it a very cheap night. The pizzas were the standout; the bases were not too heavy and the toppings generous - the palmer street pizza was a clear winner. The canneloni was another favourite; whilst the risotto and the pasta dishes we had were good and cooked well, they didn't quite hit the flavour mark in comparison. Will definitely be back!

I visited as part of a group booking for a christmas party. We paid $35. We arrived at 12.30pm.<br/><br/>One hour later, we received garlic bread and a garlic pizza. Just one slice each. There were some salads with iceberg lettuce and Coles type brand salad dressing. <br/><br/>Two hours later, we received 3 x semi-cold pastas but all lumped together onto steel platters. Protein / meat, you ask? No. Nothing. Pesto, tomato and a cream sauce, the cream sauce with nothing in it. But it gets better! I tasted the tomato pasta first: surely any Italian kitchen can do a good Napolitana sauce? The tomato sauce, I kid you not, was identical to HEINZ spaghetti-in-tomato-sauce tins (the ones you used to eat while camping when you were 10 years old). I took one mouthful and almost spat it out. The people around me left everything uneaten.<br/><br/>It was so embarrassing, even the waiter was embarrassed. 10 mins later he furtively retrieved the half empty platters (ie the rest was untouched on our plates), and I said to him 'Please take it away, WE DON'T WANT IT!'. He answered: 'Yes, don't worry, we will have real pizza for you, very soon, real pizza, don't worry'. He was beet red with embarrassment. <br/><br/>I did not arrange the booking. If I had done, I would have promptly gone to the manager and told him the food was abysmal and that he was about to face a large horde of angry, hungry, vengeful people who would either demand real food, or a full refund, post haste.<br/><br/>Another hour later (ie 3.30pm, we had arrived at 12.30pm remember), I mean THREE HOURS AFTER LUNCH, this is so unbelievable I almost can't believe this even as I type the words, yet this is what really happened -- we did get the pizzas, but by then it was no lunger lunch, though I admit the pizzas were quite good. The same quality you would expect from any busy local pizzeria.<br/><br/>Bar the pizzas (but I don't count this, they were so late), all in all this was absolutely the worst dining experience I have ever had: it was a complete unbridled disgrace.<br/><br/>It was as if the kitchen and owner decided to humiliate us by giving us literally garbage quality food because we had the temerity to book a large table and pre pay ... But $35, doesn't that get you anything anymore? There were 20 of us. He made over $700 from us. The ingredients must have cost less than $40, and I don't mean per head, I mean the net cost of the cheapest ingredients I have ever seen in my life. Frankly, I think I would rather be robbed at knifepoint. Did I mention as well how noisy it was? The lack of personal service? And how hot it was? And that I sat in these torturous conditions for THREE BLOODY HOURS?<br/><br/>NEVER PRE PAY! ALWAYS ORDER A LA CARTE! And maybe forget Bar Reggio! There are a billion pizza joints around. If this kitchen can dish this up, and then actually serve it, and do so replete with embarrassment and yet continue to do so unabashedly and without apology, it deserves not to be in business. How do they get away with this?<br/><br/>I am sure a la carte it is an okay place. Just do not book a function or a large table. You are going to be robbed.

A casual, non pretentious place that makes 'convenience' and 'being affordable' its point of difference. Extensive though poorly designed menu, scattered of very interesting dishes. However, the food lacked of that genuine flavour one would expect from an Italian restaurant. The mushroom and sausage dish mostly tasted like stock cube (I understand enhancing the flavour, but that's an old, poor trick I wouldn't expect from any chef in the Industry, especially in Sydney). Service was lacking a bit of politeness pretentiously compensated by a poor Italian style flair which could have well been mistaken for rudeness and lack of education. I would probably only take there someone who I'd want to discourage to see me again.

Excellent service and the pizza and pasta are SO delicious for the price. Surprised that the pasta ranges from as cheap as $14 and the servings are very large. We've been to many authentic Italian restaurants but bar Reggio is definitely the go-to when we want a relaxed atmosphere with good food.

I've been coming here for over 15 years. Bar Reggio is still my all time favourite Italian restaurant for a quick and easy meal. Anthony and Joe always look after me really well! Thanks guys. The pizzas are some of the best in Sydney and the Spaghetti Marinara is my all time favourite. Veal dishes are also very good. Dessert - you must try the homemade Tiramisu.

Awful. Went here last night Thursday 2 April with a group of 8, was the most horrendous dining experience I have had. <br/><br/>You could only have 1 of 2 sittings. We got the 830 sitting. The restaurant had emptied out and we were waiting out in the street to be allowed into the restaurant until 850pm. Restaurant was full. We were ready to order but we're told there's only one staff member who can take the orders. We couldnt order for around half hour. The restaurant was so loud you could not hear a conversation with the person sitting across from you.<br/><br/>Food arrived, pasta was ordinary, other meals looked nice. Someone ordered pizza this didn't show up until everyone else had finished their meals, sometime after 10pm (after we enquired about it).<br/><br/>Summary the food is average certainly not of a standard to want to put yourself into this environment again. <br/><br/>Won't return.

Don't seat me and then tell me I have to leave after an hour!. I arrived with a friend and was seated immediately at a table for 4. We had a decent meal and were then offered the dessert menu. Out of nowhere the manager came to us and told us he'd promised another group our table and we had to leave. We were stunned. He made us feel like we had created an issue by sitting at a table he assigned to us. This was not our problem but we actually finished our wine quickly and then waited 5 mins for the bill. When I said this treatment was unacceptable he discounted our bill from $33 to $20 (on his own - not based on my asking) but the price was totally not the issue. The $13 saved was not worth the cost of being able to continue a meaningful conversation with my friend. This is unacceptable behaviour to expect customers will take the brunt of their very poor management. Best place in Sydney. This is my favourite place in Sydney. It's busy but warm and full of character. The service might be a bit slow but the food is amazing and so are the prices! The mussels are my go to meal, and the kangaroo steak is delicious.

Best Pizza in Sydney!!!. Just thinking about the pizza here is making my mouth water - this place has the best pizza in my opinion - hands down. It's wood fire oven and it's just delicious! The atmosphere is really loud however and some of my friends don't like that about the place but there really is no comparison for me in terms of their Pizza! They serve it pretty much how you would get it in Napoli !!! - Best Pizza in Sydney in my book!

But that's the charm about this family-run restaurant. Bar Reggio has serving hungry customers for more than 20 years with little changes to the interior decor and yet it still gets the crowds and even the queues outside the door to this day. Just cheap and cheerful Italian fare with no fuss. They even have a courtyard if you want to dine and chill outside.

Sadly disappointing. Cool looking place, packed, great vibe. Ordered my meal and specifically asked for NO chilli. Waiter wrote it down but meal arrived laden with chilli. They apologized but still charged me. Won't go back

Remember those local italian restaurants your parents took you to when you were a kid? Supreme pizza? Spagetti bolognese? This is it. It is cheap, BYO and fabulous. Supreme pizza with everything (including pineapple - oh yeah), Greek salad with big hunks of tomato and feta, gooey lasagna and that garlic bread that comes with the tiny little bits of chopped parsley. This place is great. Cheap, buzzing and satisfying. A bit of local gold.

Poor Service Poorer Food. Restaurant has a real buzz either inside our outside in the great little courtyard.<br/><br/>No one would take our order so our unfortunate f(r)iend who recommended the place has to wave down the attention of a waiter who came and took the order.<br/><br/>We had pizzas as starters and they were arrived promptly. <br/><br/>We had a garlick pizza which was a dried out sorrowful type of thing and a pizza marquerita. The marquerita was great. <br/><br/>Then waited for over an hour for the mains (three tables around us had people there eating when we arrived, they left and new people came and they were all served their meals and eating before us). Waited maybe another 10-15 minutes then the same unfortunate had to walk off and find a waiter who advised he had forgotten about the order (which was odd because he had typed our order into a tablet).<br/><br/>The waiter advised he would bring the meals out as they were made and so they arrived, one by one by one, by one, by one. <br/><br/>My sons pepperoni pizza was superb, other two pastas were apparently ok and the unfortunate friend had possibly the veal.(notwithstanding I was looking at them with envy as my meal was so small only my son was kind enough to offer me a piece). <br/><br/>Now for the description of my Linguine with king prawn and chilli & garlick sauce. When it arrived there were only three prawns of a size I would describe as slightly smaller than medium prawns. So no king prawns.<br/><br/>Took a bite of the linguine and it was cooked well but there was so much salt in it i couldn't believe it. Not quite as bad as taking in a mouthful of seawater unexpectedly but close. Being kind I would say it was nearly a entre size. My wife was having linguine as well and it does make you wonder.....<br/><br/>Behind the salt I could sense maybe a half a tablespoon of pesto and more olive oil had been stirred thru before it was put on the plate. There was no chilli or garlick sauce (none detected anyway) taste at all. We were delivered a pot of chilli size and three-4 teaspoons of that fixed the absence of chilli and concealed the salt. <br/><br/>Moral to the story the pizzas are great but buyer beware of the pasta ...and service).<br/><br/>Then our friend left a tip....go figure.<br/><br/>cheers

Fast, busy, busy. Second time there with my Sydney family. The staff look or act or are from one extended family. All accommodating and even being busy will stop to chat.. Can not fault food, all well balance in favour and presentation to Nona standard. The decor is DIY Italian providing that authentic feel of being at a small coastal restaurant on the west coast of the boot. Always a queue out the door. Come early 5:30 pm if you do not have a reservation otherwise book in advance, like a week.

Sydney is spoilt for choice when it comes to great restaurants, but Bar Reggio is as good as anything this great city has to offer. Fantastic authentic food, served by exceptionally friendly staff, that comes at a ridiculously cheap price, what more could you ask for....This restaurant has it all.

Not the best. I decided to take my parents there whilst they were visiting Sydney as I had heard it was great. The wait staff were great, very attentitive. The food, was bland. My mother ordered the mushroom & chicken risotto- it was like they cooked the rice then mixed the pre-cooked ingredients together. My father ate the marinara, it was also plain. My sausage pasta was nice although it wasn't something I would rave about. There are so many other italian restaurants around Sydney, in the same price range that would leave Bar Reggio for dead. The calibre of restaurants in Sydney is fantastic and this restaurant was like something you would find in a small country town.

This place is fantastic. Great tasting fresh food with attentive staff all for a very reasonable price. We eat here every time we come to Sydney. Leaves many of the overpriced nothing on your plate restaurants for dead.

A Classic. What can I say about this beloved neigbourhood institution? The food is scrumptious and the wait staff are lovely. Yes, it's extremely hectic and pretty noisy and you have to wait for ages if you haven't booked, but the food is worth it. My faves are the perch, pretty much all the pizzas, the marinara pasta and of course that evil garlic bread of theirs... not a place at which to start a diet!

This is a nice place, quaint almost. It seems fairly low key when you get there but it has charm - especially the outdoor area at the back on a sunny day. The good food and rustic atmosphere transports you to Italy.

Great service, Great food and Great value for money. Went to Bar Reggio for a surprise birthday party last night.<br/>Food and service were both amazing even though the restaurant was full.<br/>Staff were extremely helpful, very flexible, and proactive ensuring that we all had a great evening.<br/>Great value for money. We will be back soon again.

Fantastic Experience!. Wow! What an experience, both environmentally and food wise. I have never seen waiter so wired into his menue and so customer focussed. I read the reviews and think this is well above the reviews. This is an authentic italian restaurant, that is a lively experience with excited chatter and lovingly prepared tastey food at amazingly cheap food. Well worth a trip especially for travellers or locals. Dont go without dessert!

Great pizza combined with a lovely atmosphere in the courtyard meant that we had a lovely evening. When the bill came I couldn't believe how incredibly cheap it was.

I went here recently with a big group of friends - they have huge tables out the back which are perfect for big groups. The pizza was tasty, reasonably priced and there were lots of authentic Italian combinations to choose from. Octopus salad was a hit, but I would not recommend the bruschetta - it was served as a pizza base with chopped tomatoes on top, which was not great as I had already ordered pizza and was craving some crusty bread! The green salads are quite basic but cheap enough that this won't bother you. It's also Byo, and very hard to snag a table without a booking at busier times. All up, its a nice basic Italian feed that is super affordable, with a loud friendly atmosphere that is perfect for groups or parties.

Good Bang for your $$$. Lively Venue, always busy but service is usually quick. Nice courtyard out the back. Good range of Pizza's and Pasta dishes. Wouldn't recommend for an intimate meal for two, but for a bunch of friends you would be hard push to find a better venue of experience and price.

Went here on a Saturday night, did not need reservation but would reccommend it! Was a homey lovely restaurant, nice staff and good service, Byo wich I wished we had known! Generous servings and great price! We ordred garlic bread and a main chicken dish with chips n salad it was huge and delicious! Garlic bread and two massive mains, was $43 so they definitely deserved our tip from $50 :) saw some pizza pasta n salad go to other tables, all looked generous n delicious!

Never fails. Bar Reggio has to be one of my favourite Italian restaurants in Sydney. I've been coming here for at least 10 years and it has never disappointed. The food is traditional Italian, very tasty, generous servings, great price and prompt and friendly service. They are very busy and depending what time you arrive, you may have to line up for a while if you haven't made a booking however the wait is well worth it. The pizzas are amazing, my favourite would be the Bar Reggio - garlic prawns with a hint of chilli, all the pastas are delicious, the meat dishes are always great too. I don't have one bad word to say about this place but I can see how some people wouldn't like the atmosphere because it can get very noisy inside but they have outdoor seating too. If you want no fuss, traditional Italian food, well priced and friendly service, give this place a go, it is definitely worth it.
