The Place

Fantastic food! The quality is so high (for example, there are multiple colors of sweet peppers instead of just green peppers and the French toast comes with cinnamon butter instead of regular). Loved every bite! Perfectly crispy hash browns, thick sliced bacon. Everything was delicious, but I highly recommend the stuffed pancakes (I ordered one with strawberries and one with cherries. SO good!) and the French toast.

Terribly unimpressed, which is too bad because the potential is all here. The Place has multiple problems: 1. The food is very hit or miss. My daughter had an amazing monkey bread that I would recommend, yet my Cuban sandwich was over salted, bland (except for the salt), and didn’t even have all the ingredients. 2. It’s dirty. There was a mop bucket with dirty sitting water right next to our table. A hand sink (also next to our table) was messy and in need of a proper cleaning. 3. Food safety!!! We observed the cook going straight from handling trash to cooking without washing in between, and saw a cold well pan stuffed with hamburger left out at room temperature the entire time we were there—OVER 40 MINUTES! This review would be one star, but the waitress was so incredibly nice I couldn’t bring myself to do it. She was a shining star, super kind, very helpful with my daughter, and thoroughly pleasant. But The Place itself needs to clean up its act before the health department comes in. Good luck.

Amazing breakfast. There’s a reason when you search “Best breakfast, St. Cloud,” that The Place comes up as #1. Great cook and server, Kelly! Best pancake I’ve ever had; could not recommend the Stuffed Flavor Cakes more... I chose blueberry with cream cheese, so damn good! If you’re in St Cloud and looking for some amazing breakfast and/or lunch, go to The Place! Thank you, Kelly!

Great dive breakfast that adds creative touches to greasy classics. The pancakes are bizarrely fluffy and come with a cinnamon-butter topping making them reminiscent of a cinnamon roll. The quantity of food for the price is high-you will not leave hungry or without leftovers. Watching the staff work the griddle adds charm to the whole experience.

ATMOSPHERE: Really unassuming place from the outside. Like I’m taking hole in the wall. But we were pleasantly surprised when we got inside. Pretty cute little place. Nice bathrooms and booths. STAFF: We came with a group of 8 and were seated immediately, but it took our server 10 minutes to come see us and then after an hour we finally got our food. Some of the staff seemed to be annoyed with us for having such a big party. I would not recommend for a larger group-their smaller kitchen doesn’t have the capacity to serve us at once. FOOD: Unfortunately a lot of it was pretty cold by the time it got to us. The food was hit or miss. The best dish was the Mexican breakfast skillet. The pancakes are big and a little doughy. The steak and eggs was the most disappointing. I’ve never seen monkey break with a bunch of whipped cream and chocolate sauce.

This is one of the best breakfast/lunch spots I have visited. Super friendly staff, our waitress was very nice, helpful, and had a great sense of humor (about the wifi password). The food was excellent, I had the Raspberry stuffed pancakes with bacon. Both were absolutely great, I only wish I received some more bacon. Otherwise really loved the atmosphere, it was really different to have such an open place where the cooks are right there but I loved it.
