May 2021 update: reasonable prices, good balance of flavours and diverse menu to suit all (standard breakfast items, tacos, burgers, pancakes, French toast). Pretty generous servings. Friendly staff. Good smooth coffee. Had the corn fritters and fish tacos w/ sweet potato fries. Taste is pretty good. However the let down is the whole place feels like it hasn’t been maintained well and really needs a deep clean scrub down. Walkway to the back dining room is especially filthy, full of stains and our cutlery still had alfalfa sprouts from the previous diners.....

We ordered oatmilk and almond mocha and they weren’t bad. My partner enjoyed his Zaatar eggs plate and it was a good portion, but the croissant of my ham and cheese croissant tasted like a commercial one, which was quite disappointing. Staffs were friendly and the place’s got lots of food options, but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to go again.

Local cafe that does great salads, they used to have this amazing chicken roquette salad, but they took it off the menu :( They don’t accept phone orders which is annoying as it does get busy and you have to wait a while for takeaway.
Perfect place for decent brekkie, brunch or lunch. Service is friendly and the cafe has a great vibe. The exposed brick decor and crates make the cafe look cool.

Got an omelette with sourdough (unsure why the bread was toasted? Potentially not fresh?). The omelette was very plain and not seasoned at all. Also, it was super dense in a bad way, not fluffy at all. It was like an egg cake with cheese on top like a pizza. Quite strange. Got the hashbrown add on and that was the only good part. Would not go back and don't recommend.

A cute double date brought myself and Nirry to Element 6 located right next to the train station at West Ryde. Now I had made note of Element 6 on my list of brunch spots to try in Sydney quite some time ago, so I was really excited to try out the food here. Normally I take a glance at the menu before arriving to enjoy a meal, but this time I decided to choose based on my mood.

One of the best cafe in the area, nice food with some healthy options. Very friendly staffs and beautiful coffee.
The veggie plate is big enough for two if you ain’t too hungry, salmon on toast was nice and fresh. The chicken burger was a little salty for my liking but French fries were crispy and yummy.

E6 West Ryde used to be my local go-to, however, after a few average dishes, I wasn’t keen to return. We decided to give the place another go and see if they had improved. I was in the mood for a milkshake so I went with that, I only wish I could remember what flavour I ordered. My partner went with a skinny cap. The milkshake was really nice and creamy. I ordered mine with soy but kept the ice-cream (I can get away with limited amounts of dairy).

We came as a group of 5 for breakfast on a busy Sunday.

Food: I ordered the shakshuka and my fiancée got the eggs benedict with bacon. The shakshuka was OK. The eggs were cooked well and the sauce had a good consistencybut there was too much cumin in my opinion. The eggs benny was excellent. One of our group also ordered eggs on toast but only got a single egg with two large pieces of toast? This may have been a miscommunication during ordering.

Service: very friendly and attentive staff. However we were seated in the back room (not the main barista area) which didn't have any music or ambience. It also appeared to have a washing machine in there?

Value: about $22 pp with coffee overall which isn't too bad.

The food was yummy but not being in the main area made a surprising difference to our experience. Came into this little cozy cafe to have brunch at 2 pm in very hot summer.

We ordered the ‘South-west Ryder big Brekky’ and ‘smashed avocado’ along with a ‘Sultan sunrise’ orange juice for drink.

The big brekky was very tasty especially the chorizo and Boston beans. And it was actually a very big portion which was price-worthy. In contrast, the smashed avocado was nothing special. The sourdough was to hard that made my gum bleed a little bit...Also the smell of herbs was too strong but this might due to my personal taste.
The juice was just okay.

Decent eatery with a vibrant atmosphere.

Element 6 is a one of a few cafes in the west ryde area. It is quite popular and often tables are full of hungry guests.

The menu has changed since I last came and the pulled pork burger is no longer there. So you have been warned.

I ordered the chicken katsu burger. It was hot and fresh, good for a winters day.

The katsu itself was a bit overdone and seemed more like karaage than katsu in terms of degrees of friedness. I felt like I was eating a lot of batter and not much chicken.

The chicken is real chicken, not some ripoff which is prevalent in some places these days. I also believe that it is chicken thigh meat as it was not tough but quite moist.

Chips were nice and crunchy

Overall a decent eat.

A cozy cafe hidden in Ryde, food at Element 6 was much better than other cafes. I ordered an iced coffee and spicy minced beef. The large hot plate of minced beef was tasty and the spices and sausage broke up the monotony of the dish by variating the taste and texture. It would be better if the bread was slightly toasted because a cold, hard bread in a chilly autumn afternoon does not taste nice.

Food is ok, most staff there is nice. But one yellow hair female staff made my friend and I really uncomfortable. She refused us to sit in the backyard and she told us the back will be close in one hour. If it's true, it sounds reasonable. However, after that, there come 4 customers and went to the backyard without any stop. I mentioned that with the yellow hair staff when I paid the bill, while she told me they just went to the toilet. Ok, all I want to say now, your guys really have a big toilet.

Within walking distance from West Ryde rail station and the Ryde Eastwood RSL, is a gem of a cafe. It is laid out in a contemporary style at street level, stereotyped small at the front - and I like the further option of more seating tucked away behind, over looking bush and providing some kind of a private hideaway. The Element 6 is located in suburbia, but has an ambiance like in a more hipster corner of Sydney, Newcastle or Wollongong. I understand that it has been running for around four years - and is the talk amongst my mates living in that north west corner of greater Sydney.I quickly thought about Kin By US near Macquarie Centre and Big Tree House Cafe at Calder Avenue in Rydalmere. Perhaps I am comparing apples with oranges. The menu offered at each of these three brunch and breakfast places are different, each offers a separate atmosphere but all do revolve around more than just coffee - it is the inter-weaving of ideas and ingredients, it is the philosophy of the owners and the diverse inspiration behind the food. The two of us tried iconic test dishes - a Big Breakky called South-west Ryder and a pulled pork presentation, garnished with tumeric potatoes, pickled carrot and apple fennel slaw. I was impressed with both, in the careful and devoted manner in which Element 6 delivered contrasting and yet harmonious in texture, colours and utilisation of ingredients. Pulled pork can be tricky though, it takes hours to prepare but can come out a bit saturated on the palate at times. The servings of either dish eaten were generous. Some friends said it was even better when they first opened. The menu is not overly extensive but I reckon we do not need too many listings. There is a wooden adornment feel around the place but the cafe does stand out amongst its retail neighbours.

I've been eyeing this cafe for a while now and we finally had the chance to drop by here yesterday for lunch. One of the nice things about the place was that it's on the quieter side of West Ryde station, and it certainly is one of the more 'trendy' cafes around that area. We opted to sit indoors since it was ridiculously windy yesterday, and the interior was really cosy.

We decided to go for the E6 Chicken burger and the El Spaniola (I might have forgotten the name, but it was poached eggs with chorizo, kale and lentils) and also a chocolate milkshake. The shake was really ice, probably one of the better ones I've had in a while. Not too sweet, and a nice consistency and a good size for $5.50.

The burger was not bad, but I would've liked a bit more balance in regards to the taste. The chicken was well cooked, but lacked flavour, with most of the flavour coming from the relish which was a little uneven. I also wasn't a huge fan of the coriander they put in the burger. I normally don't mind coriander but this particular one had an incredibly strong taste that overpowered everything else. The burger was served with turmeric potatoes instead of the usual chips, and I am a huge fan of them, they were incredibly well done and delicious.

Our second dish was pretty good, the eggs were fantastic and just the way I liked them, and the chorizo was great. However, there were just way too many lentils! the entire plate was lentils! Sure they're good for you, but I would've liked a bit less or at least give them a bit more flavour.

The staff were friendly and prompt, and the cost was pretty average for a cafe. Overall a decent cafe, but it just didn't really stick with me. Worth a visit if you're in the area though!

Went back after a year or so as I was craving some of their baked eggs. Not sure if it's just me or their portion sizes have definitely shrunk. All the same apart from that, their shakshuka was hearty, well seasoned, and had some spice (could have done with some more heat but that's personal preference). Would have liked the yolks to be a bit less well done but they weren't over cooked. Friend had the vegetarian version with haloumi and he enjoyed it too. We also gave their pulled pork roll with apple cabbage slaw and a side of tumeric potatoes a try. Comes semi deconstructed funnily enough with the slaw on one side and the pork on the other. Otherwise the pork was not overly dry and stringy but may have been helped by the generous sauce. The buns were lightly toasted and the apple slaw also gave some fruity sweetness to the dish which i enjoyed but my friend not so much. I think maybe adding some slight sourness in the form of apple cider vinegar to complement the apple slaw would have further enhanced the dish. The tumeric potatoes were also well roasted and not overcooked. Again I enjoyed the tumeric flavouring but my friend not so much but you can probably tell I like my spices. Overall a good feed in the area for lunch/brunch considering the options out in the ryde area, with reasonable pricing however I still believe portion sizes used to be a fair bit larger.

Element 6 cafe located on Ryedale Road is probably one of the trendier cafe found in the suburb of West Ryde. Even though it is located on the quieter side of the train station (not the Woolies/Coles side), it seems to draw a regular crowd as evident in people queuing up for seats or takeaway coffee whenever we’d past the cafe. I’d been a couple of times, once during a weekday morning and another a weekend afternoon and it was buzzing with activity both times. A stark contrast to the neighboring businesses.

As a local living around the Marsfield area, West Ryde is one of my local go to places for a quick outside eat. Suggested to give it a try after seeing the mostly positive reviews on zomato, and was not disappointed. Everything went well that day. Found parking right outside cafe, got the last free table despite the small space, and got my orders efficiently from the friendly staff. I loved the speed of everything being delivered, although the serving of food could have been a bit faster for me (maybe my expectations got too high).

Nonetheless, ordered the west-ryder big brekky and for $18 it was certainly worth it, making me so full I didn't need lunch after this breakfast. My mum ordered the E6 chicken burger for $16 and found it average. Noticed the daily specials, and I think I'll be back at Element 6 again soon! :)

What a nice surprise! Being a city girl, i didn't have high expectation for this place. We went by car but it's easily accessible by public transport too (right next to the station).

We went there at 8am on Saturday morning so it wasn't that busy then. We both had green juice to start the day (kale, celery, spinach, mint, cucumber, silverbeet, apple, agave).

I had Moroccan Baked Eggs with chickpeas, haloumi, eggplant and spicy zhoug, and it came with flat bread. It was delicious. It's a little bit spicy but the eggs and the bread balanced everything out. I would order this again when I'm here next.

My boyfriend had Olive Oil Fried Eggs with beetroot, black forest bacon, tomatoes, fresh herbs and dukkah. It was really yummy as well. It’s safe to say I’ve tried about 80% of the menu and have been back countless times. Really good value for money as the servings are huge, and you will always be greeted with a smile.

Can’t remember if their muffins change from time to time, but the house made white choc blueberry(?) muffin was delish and great to grab on the go. So so satisfying as well. Another one I got on the go was their bacon and egg “roll” which looks more like a burger. Bacon and egg rolls are something I hardly ever get, but the one from Element 6 is ON POINT and worth a try. It’s their own pumpkin chutney and aioli which changes things and seriously for less than $10, worth every cent.

The fried eggs, beetroot, dukkah dish is not one of my top picks but again seriously satisfying. I am not a small eater but this dish left me so full and content that I would recommend it also. This and the baked eggs are the best to get if you’re hungry. I think I may even have struggled to finish the baked eggs and given up.

The mushrooms are also pleasant but I don’t think they are as memorable as the others.

The pulled-pork burger is HUGE but slightly bland. However the turmeric potatoes are extra tasty and together make an incredibly satisfying lunch.

If I don’t feel like trying anything new, I’ll always go back to the veggie big brekky. Not because it’s the most filling or best value, but it has everything I like and is a classic vegetarian big breakfast done well. I certainly don’t feel stuffed after this but the corn cake and onion jam is so good. Same deal with the south-west ryder big brekky if you need meat in your meal.

Coffee is pretty strong here which is great, and an iced long black would always do the trick for me. Stateside iced coffee is essentially an iced latte with a double shot if you want to be extra buzzing.

In terms of drinks, I am in love with the green with envy smoothie. However it is a slight let down that it ranges from good to amazing depending on who makes it/how much of each ingredient is used. I suppose it can’t be helped when it comes to smoothies as it cannot always be exact, but for this one the taste does change quite a bit. I decided to stray just once and gave the sultans sunrise a go which is just OJ with pomegranate but it was really tasty and refreshing, so another option if you want something fresh and sweet.

I’d probably give a 4 for just the food, as it’s tasty and nothing is a drastic let down but overall it is a 4.5 for the incredible service and great value. There is never a staff lacking and they are always so sweet and friendly.

Super busy place on a Saturday. Usually food is good but when it gets busy the kitchen drops the ball. Had the big breakky, but my toast was so hard and my corn fritters were brunt and my crispy bacon wasn't crispy. Coffee was good, ice chocolate was average. There's a lot of staff, but felt like they just walk around. Had to flag 3 down before I get to order.

Been there many many times and I would still go there again for the good food, good people and good coffee! Corn fritta on big brekkie is an art. Though I don't like how much they use herbs on every menu... :(

Located in a quiet place. Very busy caffe. Satisfying food and service. Coffee is a must-try. Their Cappucino tastes really good. It's def a good place to come for brunch with your friends and families. Ordered four different brunch meals and they were all good. French toast is exceptionally good.

There aint enough of these cafes in west ryde, so its easy to say, wait times are long...

However, this place does a AMAZING decaf for those days where you just want to be caffeine free.

The food is cafe style but serving size is huge. And very hearty. Presentation is not necessary as the quality and taste really over ride anything else. Unlike some cafes i have been to who skimp, i wont name names, these guys slather.

Love it.

Remember my first visit to this cafe a couple of years ago, it was the middle of winter, a busy Sunday with lots of people waiting, and we waited outside in the cold for about 30 mins to be seated, but the food was definitely worth it. Since then I've been coming back every so often, the place is always busy, and the food standard have been very consistent. I love their sweet breakfast options, particularly waffles on their specials, but the specials often sell out! Their savoury dishes are done well too. Great place for weekend brunch!

I had the South West Ryder Big Brekky, and it was a very big brekky indeed. The generous on the bacon, lovely bread, really nice onion jam and tasty corn fritters, plus two almost perfectly poached eggs all piled on to a plate. All of it was very good! The music on the inside was a little on the loud side. Good service though.

The food and coffee at Element 6 is very good 90% of the time. It's the only place I know in this area that serves up food and coffee at a level of competency in design and execution comparable to the cafes of Newtown and Surry Hills.

The chubby bacon and sunny egg roll (9.5) is delicious as is their B.L.A.T sandwich (13.50). If you're hungry I recommend the south-west ryder big brekky (17.00) and the Moroccan baked eggs (17.00). If you're really hungry I highly recommend the E6 chicken burger with a side of turmeric potatoes (16.00). It's my favourite when I've got serious hunger pangs. And when a dish has the cafe brand name in it's title how can you go wrong? :-) If you're on some kind of green hippy hipster diet? Order a green power juice and smashed avo on toast with poached egg for the protein hit (15.0).

Service is a little hit and miss. Sometimes it's great, staff are on the ball. Sometimes...they just forget your order and leave you waiting until you ask for your food and they tell you "sorry, we forgot." People are lovely and they mean well but Element 6 really need improvement in this area.

Overall, Element 6 is a good place to drop into for a Saturday or Sunday morning brunch.

Super busy for Valentine's Day but the wait wasn't too bad. Given there's not much else going on in west ryde it's the local place to be. Service was fast and efficient and food was great, although no alterations were allowed to the menu.. Not sure if this was a Valentine's Day only thing or not.

Cute hipster cafe in an unexpected location. Reasonable prices for a good range of well thought out, yummy breakfasts and lunches. I had the veggie big breakfast which came with the usual suspects plus a really excellent corn cake, garlic field mushrooms, zingy onion relish and Boston beans ($17); also a delicious green smoothie ($7.50). Bench seating is nice or else try out the back for a quieter meal.

I came for lunch a few months ago and it was a pretty good experience. I remember ordering the asian-style chicken burger which came with turmeric potatoes and some nice coffee. The burger was quite delicious which taste almost like a banh mi, but I wasn't really a fun of the potatoes because the turmeric taste was so strong haha. I prefer some good old fries instead! Coffee was surprisingly good and the barista made some cute art for me which is splendid.

I will definitely come here again in the future to taste some different products.

After the Summer Starter run, it was time to look for sustenance and I found it at funky Element 6. It was mid-morning by the time I arrived and as a lone diner, I got a seat at the front bench, where I people-watched passerby's on the street.

There are a lot of tempting items on the menu, which made it difficult to decide what to order. Seeing as it was still morning, I opted for a brunch dish and the dukkah dish seemed unusual enough whilst still having delicious components like egg and bacon. What you can't see there, and which isn't listed on the menu, is that the elements were packed on top of a thick tortilla, to provide some carbs.

Whilst each element was tasty on its own (barring the cherry tomatoes because I don't like tomatoes and cherry tomatoes are particularly tomato-y), together they became a bit too much. In fact, the dish was almost like a salad and considering my feelings towards salads, it will come as no surprise that I got a bit sick of the dish before I managed to finish it. If it came with less tomatoes and herbs then I probably would have enjoyed it more.

On the other hand, the Sultan's Sunrise was a perfect morning juice. OJ is a little boring by itself but the splash of pomegranate gave it a very nice tropical taste.

Overall, I would happily trek back to Element 6 to try some of its other dishes and check out the back courtyard.

Really like the decor, vibe and friendliness of the staff here. We came for a weekend lunch and even though they were busy, service was still very prompt.
I loved the simplicity of my E6 fav rosemary garlic mushroom dish. everything was done well. it may not be the prettiest of picture, but it sure tasted nice.
could not fault the south-west ryder big breakkie. really liked the corn cake, interesting, mildly sweet and not dry/doughy.

Next time i come i want to try their green salad? it was a special on their blackboard and sold out when i arrived.
Definitely coming back here to try more!

Good food except it's incredibly annoying that you can't change the menu at all- I understand this to an extent but asking for someone to not put a sauce on something isn't asking for much! One major flaw of an otherwise great restaurant

Wow wow and wow. Loved it!
So who knew that for years on my way to work I was driving past such an amazing gem.
Stopped in for breakfast today and I'm so glad I did.
I ordered an iced coffee with a dash of skim (I might say it was more than a dash disappointingly) and I got the olive oil fried eggs with bacon, beetroot hommus, herbs and dukkah on flat bread. AMAZING! The oil was the stand out on the dish - the delicate herb taste against the eggs and dukkah so good... I don't think I've ever had a breakfast taste so fresh and delicious.
I can't say enough about this place. Oh and breakfast menu all day! Winning :)

Element 6 used to be one of my favourite cafes, but not anymore now. The coffee doesn't taste like coffee. The three "classics" we've ordered have turned out to be disappointing. Bad presentation. The mushroom in the E6 mushroom dish is not cooked through. The French toast was really soggy and disgusting. Bacon and egg roll is not the same anymore.

Tried it this morning. Had their big breakfast and 2 coffees. Best thing was that the breakfast items weren't too sweet - the Boston beans, the corn cake, the onion jam - sometimes those things are way too sweet, but these were just right. Service was friendly and they sure were working hard this morning. I'd be happy to recommend to friends and happy to come back.

Pretty cafe, excellent customer service, food presentation is better than average but not amazing. Kitchen staff are at fault for loss of marks here - my partners dish came out first and by the time I recieved mine he had already finished his meal, cashier girl apologised and gave 10% off our meal when I got to the counter. Another time kitchen staff did not put all items of my dish on my plate, wait staff quickly organised extra items.

Stools propped up against the wooden bench-top, milk crates and tiny chairs on the footpath for outside seating. At a glance, Element 6 could have easily caused you to stop in your tracks and wonder if you were in Surry Hills. On a weekend, you’ll find that just as a table is vacated, it gets filled quickly and more join the queue at this cosy cafe.

Been twice in the past few months. Easy parking, which is always a priority for me. The service is ok, the food is ok. Not a fan of the coffee here. It's made ok but they use double roasters beans and they're certainly not my favourite. The smashed avo dish is quite good, bar the fact that you get almost an entire bunch of parsley in there. But hey, you can always pick some of the parsley out. The mince baked eggs were really good. Apart from that, the food ranged from mediocre to good. The baked eggs were really the highlight.

With an extensive menu that includes organic produce and gluten free options, and a cosy creative space to enjoy time to yourself, a casual meeting, or a friendly ‘catch-up’, Element 6 provides an inviting place for you to be in your element.

The all day menu includes toasts – with a world of bread varieties, and they offer a range of Hank’s jam to pop on top; house made granola, yoghurt and seasonal fruit; bacon and eggs various ways; French toast with mascarpone, seasonal poached fruit and pistachio praline; sandwiches; salads; and the renowned South-West Ryder of crispy bacon, 2 poached eggs, roasted tomato, boston beans, onion jam and corn cake.

While the coffee is good enough to enjoy on its own, I highly recommend pairing it with one of the gluten free treats that will tempt you from the dessert window.

The biggest warning about this place is that it’s hugely popular with the locals, which means seating can be limited. I was unable to get a table when turning up 11am on a weekday, but was still able to

enjoy my meal along the front window bar seating. Takeaway is still a pleasant option with a large park less than a block away, and on warmer days, there is plenty of outside dining space to enjoy as well.

Element 6 is a small neighborhood cafe serving up delicious brunch fare and good coffee. The little cafe is extremely busy on weekends and generally has a decent amount of people lining up to get inside. When I saw shakshouka available on the menu I just had to order it simply because it struck me how long it’d been since I’d had baked eggs.

I’m not a morning person. Not by a long shot. But when you get woken up by, “hey let’s go see the sunrise together“, it’s a little hard to say no. Well that, and the promise of breakfast. And that’s what happened the morning that I found myself climbing steep hills in complete darkness. Not my finest hour, with sweat pants, a hoodie, and layers of clothing underneath. In the three years since its opening, Element6 has cemented itself as the northern Sydney suburbs’ answer to the rustic-quirky aesthetic of inner-city cafes, and is a definitive local favourite, if the diversity of its customers is anything to go by.

Service was delightful, knowledgeable and very helpful with my friends egg intolerance (there is egg in almost everything!). The menu looks exciting but delivery was underwhelming.

It took 40 minutes for our order to come to the table

Honeybee (banana) smoothie was lovely. Coffee was burnt.

Rosemary garlic mushrooms had no rosemary or garlic flavour, but was nice enough. Poached eggs and haloumi were perfect.

The ultimate cheese toastie was also very nice, but not quite 'ultimate'.

It's very good, much needed addition to the area and has potential to be great, but just misses the mark this time. Dishes delivered to other diners looked fantastic.

Appears that two other cafe's restaurants are under construction in the fronts next door so perhaps some competition will stir things up!
