Really good chicken... the potato salad was also good. But those beans! I'll go back just for some more of those beans! I stopped at Hot Rod BBQ in Ruston on my trip from FL to TX. I'll be going back to Hot Rod BBQ on my way home for sure! And...should have started my review with this... the people - all of the people i interacted with while I was there - were just so friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend that you visit if you're in the area.

I was looking through the reviews of restaurants on the internet in order to help with my dinner options after my 12+ hour work day at the local hospital. I had a taste for some smoked meat. Being from Alabama, I truly can appreciate an authentic barbecue smokehouse. I called and was helped with picking the best meal to match my preferences. After getting to my hotel room, showering and prepping for dinner and bed, I opened my package and noticed some food was missing. I called back to the establishment hoping I could just explain what happened and maybe pick up my correct order the following day after work. The manager, addressed me by name and gave a heartfelt apology. Not only did she personally drive to my hotel to deliver my food, she even brought dessert!!! The food was some of the absolute best that I have ever eaten. I can not say enough to convey my satisfaction!!! My ribs and pulled pork were so beyond delicious. A+++ New Customer Alert+++++

Very convenient location, right off I-20. Online ordering was fairly easy, and my order was prepared quickly. The drive-thru service was not very welcoming or friendly but I don’t really expect that anymore, even here in the South. The meats were all pretty good. The smoked turkey, chicken, and the sausage were by far the best. The brisket was yummy too, big ol’ thick chunks. Pulled pork was not as flavorful as some, but still delicious. The bbq sauce and lack of pickles were my biggest gripes. Pickles didn’t come with the meal as advertised on the menu and the sauce portions were very small, with thin, not-so-flavorful sauce. A little more heat or flavor would’ve been nice. The beans were a solid 5/5 for sure, and the potato salad and cole slaw about a 4/5. All pretty yummy. Price was fair for quality and quantity of food. Overall, one of the best bbq joints around.

Food had a LOT of flavor. The meat was pretty grease. But you are looking at a BBQ place. Staff are quick working and usually busy. I can tell this place is popular in this town and a nice break for me from chain restaurants. A little spendy, but you do get what you pay for here. If im ever around here I will be stopping by again.
