El Pollo Loco

El Pollo Loco has had a very special place in my nostalgic heart for a very long time. Back in Laredo Texas when i was a little kid this was the place to go. Back then the logo was yellow and red, i have attached their older logo. I was excited to learn they were finally in dallas. The restaurant seemed very different, much more trendy, and when i saw the menu i was taken back, so many choices. The customer service was great no problems there... the hot sauce was tasted stale, i could not eat it. the chicken was fine, it seemed fried not grilled. over all it was fine, not as good as i remember at. my son loved it, and i guess thats all that matters. i wouldn't call this mexican chicken anymore though. the only thing mexican about El Pollo Loco now days seems like its in the name and the music they play. i will come again and give it another shot. maybe i came in on an off day and the stale salsa killed it for me. to me a "mexican place" should always be on point with their hot sauce. anyways it wasnt bad, it was ok.

I had never heard of El Pollo Loco so I stopped in to try it. It's all about the chicken. Its got great spices and grilled to perfection. I tried it and the baracho (sp?) beans and mex mix rice. It was all good but the chicken was excellent. It was moist and flavorful. The staff was super, even coming around to refill my drink. This is not a sit down and order kind of restaurant, more like KFC where you order at the counter and sit and wait for it. So I was impressed that they asked to refill my drink with a smile. I will definitely be back.
