Grumpy's Cafe

Looking for decent food at a reasonable price, and that’s what we got. Food was “okay”. Canned vegetables used for veggie omelet, which tasted like water. Cinnamon roll hard and difficult to cut, even after heated a 2nd time. B& gravy okey. Service was decent, and very friendly! Someone here really LOVES to decorate! I screamed when entering as Halloween mummy scared me!

Don't understand any reviews that are negative here. The food is what I expect from smaller cafe. Service was quick and even personal as they spent time talking with my children and giving us suggestions on where to go. Now if only Bart would smile it would probably have been better but at the same time I think he is just playing a character. Ps we did enjoy your suggestion of the Blue Heron petting zoo

Grumpy's Sunday, September 17th 2023 A great place to eat, with large portions and a friendly staff (despite the name!). Was service slow? No, and I'll fight anyone who says it was, because they weren't paying attention. This morning, at a quick glance, it was obvious that there were only two staff here at opening and there were supposed to be more. The usual crowd, plus a bunch of us tourists, had hit the place right as they opened. Instead of opening late and making people wait, they cheerfully opened their doors and did their best to get us all served ASAP. A few minutes after I got there, I got to overhear that at least one person had not shown up to work and one of the two staff there, was not even supposed to be working, but was helping out until more staff arrived. Don't believe anyone who gives this place less than five stars and says they lowered their review because of slow service. If you wind up in Rockaway Beach in the early morning, definitely stop by this awesome little diner, but please calm down, sit and patiently wait. Enjoy your stay; don't rush. Please.
