We had our fathers day dinner here. Didnt have the freatest table as we were seated in the room at the front which is a big rectangle table(we had to pass dishes around as opposed to havinng a lazy susan). Food was what youd expect of comparing to congee wong style restaurants. Good quality, decent portions. Bbq and roast pork were delicious. Would return if my family chose to but congee wong and congee queen are my go tos.

Went in for dinner. Ordered a few dishes. Towards the end of our dinner, found a fly in Gongee. Not sure if it came from the congee or hot oil. Took almost 10 min to get server's attention. No apology from server or anyone and they pretended like nothing happened. Didn't make a fuss as this might be normal for them and I won't ever return there again.

Pretty decent Chinese cuisine with reasonable prices. Portion was good and food served hot. Good customer service. The server Jason was very helpful and attentive. The only concern was the food came out in 20-30 minutes. The wait time to get the table was also long.

Very long line up for lunch. Once you do get a table, you will have to wait at least 30 min before your first dish comes out, and this repeats for the number of dishes you order.
45 minutes passed from our first dish being served, waiters have completely forgot about our two other dishes. Absolutely ridiculous and a waste of time.
The fried lou bat go - the only dish served to us in an hour after seating - was bland. Just as we were about to leave without eating our the rest of our dish, the second dish was served to which we refused to pay for this dish.
I suggest you go to Congee Queen for better food, as well as better customer service and food wait time.

Mr. Congee meets the standards of Chinese cuisine in Richmond Hill, a heavily populated Asian community. My family and I came here on a Wednesday night and restaurant was at 50% capacity.
Food was great except I found the fried squid to be a little on the saltier side. The hostess also seated us close to the exit so when someone left the restaurant, my family and I could feel the cold air hitting our skin. Didn’t exactly have the best dining experience but overall, service was quick and friendly.

If I can give this a negative scoring, I would absolutely do so. Yesterday I ordered a lobster dish as take out to bring to a pot luck belated Christmas party. Everything was in a plastic bag so when we got to the party and opened it up, it looked like someone had eaten all the meat from the dish and given us the shell remains of a lobster dish. Absolutely terrible and the worse experience I’ve ever had dining. Please see attached photo. Do not order here. Shame on you guys for being such an unethical business. $50 dish for absolute rubbish.

This is my family’s go-to place for Chinese. We tried many times and the food here consistently great. We love their sautéed deep fried lobster and crab(preferred crab) ,beef dish covered with deep fried flour(can’t remember the name), and turnips with shrimp were good too!! The only thing they need to improve would be service and hygiene of the restaurant. Otherwise, it’s a pretty decent place for enjoy Chinese food.

Exceptionally RUDE service, hostess had no manners whatsoever and what outwardly unfriendly and unwelcoming. She was verbally angry with me when I told her I wanted to pay debit because I didn't have any cash on me. Servers were rude too, I was shoved and pushed around while I waited. Food is not even good. Tastes cheap quality. Will never go back.

Truly horrible service accompanied by overpriced food. Would rate lower if possible. <br/><br/>There were only 3 servers, we had to wait 15-20 minutes to make a request. A waiter actually walked away before we could finish talking and smirked when we called him to come back; ridiculously rude. The bill was $318+198+36.99, that said, the food was mediocre given the price.

A lot of people, the tables are too close to each other, you can literally hear the conversation of the people at the next table. Foods are so-so, nothing exciting, but kind of cheap and not that cheap when comparing similar Chinese Restaurant like Ocean Seafood Restaurant. And services are not great either.

Great food that matches the pictures in the menu! Terrible and unorganized service, but once you are able to get the waiters attention, it's completely fine, they will get to your needs as soon as they can. <br/><br/>Great prep panned meals for large groups, congee is good, love the salmon congee. My favourite is the jellyfish with shredded chicken and cucumbers.

Never been in a place with worse service, staff Dont speak English and address only their own, poor management <br/>we were first in line and the lady at the front talked in their language to the people behind us, they told them we were next and couldn't care less, we left and will never come back, for them losing a customer English speaking would be like taking a hair out of my dog, they have their own market <br/>Very disappointing having a place likecit in Richmond Hill

Mr Congee serves more than Congee, just want to get that out of the way.<br/><br/>The menu is really extensive. A step up from Congee Queen as they even offers fresh lobsters and fish that are still swimming in the tank.<br/><br/>Here you do get value as the portion size is huge. Make sure you don't order too much! But you can always have leftovers as lunch the next day.<br/><br/>The quality of the food is quite standard in a good way. And everyone would find something they enjoy.<br/><br/>The interior is spacious and well laid out. High ceiling and comfortable seating. <br/><br/>I would be back again for a late dinner (closes at 11 pm) or even afternoon tea special when I am in the area, There are not too many good decent restaurant in the area so Mr. Congee would be doing well.

Lunch with friends. My friends live close by and wanted to give this place a try. The service was rude and rough. The food served was okay but extremely salty. Very limited parking. I would not come back to this restaurant again.

First visit - 100% satisfied. This location is kind of "cursed": every couple of years, they change the name, owner, cuisine... <br/><br/>I hope, this time, Mr. Congee will stay, and its quality of food will stay, too.<br/><br/>Note: there are two menus. The "just duck" is in one of them, and the "Peking Duck" two-course dinner - in another one. Take the 2-course, it's lovely.<br/><br/>Hot and sour soup was very good<br/><br/>We (4 people) took also 3 spring rolls, a congee dish, and some noodles-with-meat - all was tasty, and the bill was $80. <br/><br/>Will be back, for sure.<br/><br/>Thank you!

Enjoyable first visit. Recently renovated and reopened (previously Regal Palace). We stopped in for dinner and ordered way too much food but we enjoyed everything. Items we will definitely reorder again, Peking duck, spice & pepper pork chops (M13), wontons (D1), curry noodles (H31), beef noodles (H27), pork green beans (Q9), chilli turnip (R7). Ok dish but probably wont reorder fish & bean hotpot (P7).
