I didn't expect to find Sofrito in the middle of a residential area. The neighborhood was a little rough, not necessarily a place for a visitor. Urban salad. It was unexpectedly good but would have been much better chilled. Crab Cakes.

It's sad to say it, but I will not go back. I ordered pernil, it was dry, with yellow rice, had no flavor. And a side of Maduros, it's a sweet ripened plantain, it was green, not sweet. Soda was flat. There is not enough room to move around. And not enough servers to take care of you. Great concept, but still needs a lot of fine tuning. Don't forget, the place is in a residential neighborhood in the city of reading. You are on your own for parking.

Went here today for lunch with a group of 7 and everyone left with smiling faces. Will definitely return. Great Cuban/Mexican menu selection and some nice craft brews on tap.

Best local place!!!. Went here last night after visiting Reading for the first time in about 10 years. We were very happy with our choice. First, the food is outstanding. The chef's take on favorites like crab cakes, wings, etc. is perfect marriage of Latin and American flavors. Each dish exhibits the head chef and owner's commitment to fresh and local ingredients. Second, it's very clean and the staff was very attentive. Third, the prices are outstanding. For appetizers, we ordered the jalapeño crab balls, Cuban rolls, chicken empanadas, and the fried avocado (Outstanding by the way). For my entree I had the crab cakes (substituted the fries with yellow rice and black beans). I'm from Maryland so I know a bit about crab cakes and these were very very good. Just the right amount of spiciness and flavor. We are definitely coming back. Highly recommended and when you visit, ask for the chef/owner hector and let him know how good the food was!
