What a delightful experience. A beautiful spot in El Dorado County, just outside of downtown Placerville. Menu varied and had something for everyone. The weather was perfect so we could eat outside. So enjoyed this restaurant! From the guy who answered the phone and took reservation to him giving us a personalized tour of the resaurant/mine areas. The setting was awesome. We ate down stairs... ordered Chicken parm, steaks and jambalaya. Dinner was hot and attractively served by friendly waitress. It was a bit of a wait for our dinner to arrive... we were patient. (Maybe staff is tight due to covid) We enjoyed ourselves!

BEWARE parasite worms in your fish at Smith Flat House! The manager that worked 3-25-2022 said it is very common for the fish they serve to have parasite worms in the fish they receive! They comped the dish since my wife was only able to enjoy a few bites before finding the parasite worm that is pictured. But did not comp the $15 pizza as the replacement. I had to go back after dropping off my family. Which was supposed to be a nice birthday dinner for my mother. The manager said I should have just called instead of coming back... Who says that to someone that is already upset. I showed him the picture and asked should I show this online. Manager said "Go Ahead". To the manager: You need to learn to be respectful. This is not how you talk to or treat customers! Our server Shelby was amazing!!! I highly recommend her!

The owner, Mason, runs one of the best restaurants in Northern CA. The food is always incredible. The staff are so friendly/attentive and it is a great place to eat, drink, attend events and get married. We love their wine selection and drink selection. You will not be disappointed when you leave.

The smith flat house has a lot of good things going for it. But, it also has a lot of opportunities. Overall it’s not worth the spend. I took my family and my mother out for her birthday Friday evening. We sat outside, had live music which was nice. Food however was extremely overpriced and honestly not worth the spend. If your spending 300-400 plus on dinner you expect the food and service to be outstanding. The mussels were fantastic I will give them that. My wife got a clump of dirt in her order, told the bus boy and waitress but they didn’t care or do anything. I ordered a filet medium rare and it was well done and wasn’t very good. I think it was choice meat and not prime, I didn’t say anything. My son ordered chicken Alfredo, he had a huge clump of uncooked pasta again didn’t say anything. My other son ordered a pizza which was so salty for some reason he couldn’t even eat it. They forgot my brothers meal all together so he had to wait. Service was marginal at best. Multiple times drinks were empty and the waitress didn’t check on us at all for a long time. Overall everyone at the table felt we wouldn’t come back. Food and service wasn’t worth what they are charging. If they were cooking better and the service was bumped up I wouldn’t mind paying the price and trying it again because that’s what you want when you go somewhere nice. Great food and service that’s what you pay for. But, it was bad enough that I would try it or recommend it if that’s what you’re looking for. There are plenty of places that kick this restaurant’s butt in quality and service at better prices.
