Best fish and chips in town by a mile, no exaggeration. It kills me they don't deliver though, it's a two mile walk but it says something for the food quality that I'm prepared to walk past three closer chippies to come here.

Exceptional chips and fish is always fresh. Their mixed chicken dishes are really good too. Generous portion size and fairly priced. Can't recommend trying this enough

Extremely welcoming fish bar! They have one of the best fish going! Whenever I get a portion of fish and chips, it’s always fresh and the fish is so light on the inside of the crispy batter. Fish literally melts in your mouth it’s that good! On top of that this fish bar likes to do its own special house curry on top of the normal chip shop curry!

Really enjoyed my food from here. Fresh cooked fish. Just what I needed after a late night at work and couldn't be bothered to cook. I dropped in 20mins before they closed, no fish was ready yet they still cooked my order so close to closing time. I'd recommend this place for food and service 🙂

Another great tasting fish and chip supper from Captain Cod. Best chips ever!
The staff are always pleasant and kind.
Was given some free samples of a new chicken roll they are doing. The kids loved them.
I am disappointed when I go anywhere else for fish and chips. Live and learn.

There aren't that many good fish and chip shops around anymore but this one is one of the best.
Fish and chips were great on every occasion. Definitely on my list of takeaways.

Stopped in for a tray of chips and Peas
Had Batter bits on top absolutely great peas weren't sugary sweet like some tinned varieties are really enjoyed them.
Also picked up a couple of Cod Bites
They were Delicious (wife's words I didn't get one😂)

Totally disagree with the bad reviews on here. We have always found the owner lady very friendly and polite I’m sure it was a genuine mistake for the over charge comment below. And regarding the cash only policy she is a registered business so will pay tax, you must have misheard as I’m sure it’s due to the ridiculous charges that are put on you if you operate a card machine.
Regarding the food we have always found it to be of excellent quality, good portion size and great value for money. P.S. you can’t beat their large fish it’s like a whale!!

They do lovely fish and chips, and also have other items as expected from a fish and chip shop. You can eat in or takeaway, and they also offer delivery. The shop is very clean and prices are reasonable. The food is good quality and cooked well. A very enjoyable meal.

Fantastic Chippy. We use it at work about once a month on a Friday. They always have a smile for you and the food is great. Not sure what the negative feed back is all about. I thought chippy queuing systems where universal 😜
