Honki Haus

Staff were mostly too busy with delivery services to take proper care of dine-in guests. Tables weren’t cleared & were dirty when we arrived. Entree of spring rolls was decent but it tasted like old oil. Sweet & sour pork seemed to be refried & tough, garlic prawns must have been frozen prawns as they tasted quite ‘funky’. The ‘haus’ Fried rice was great & the star of our meal. All in all, a disappointment.

Order uber eats from here. Food was really good. Not super oily like Asian food can be sometimes but still decent amounts of flavour. Pipis was good where they can often be flavourless at some other restaurants. Sweet and sour pork has good flavour, as did the char siew bao, sambal beans, curry puff, salt and pepper squid. Will definitely try again.

Ordered takeaway via Deliveroo. Order totalled more than $60 (it was pricey) so I was expecting big portions/good quality. We got neither. The stir fried green beans were over cooked...they arrived all shrivelled and were not at all spicy. The sate chicken was stringy and didn’t seem cooked fully. The pork in the Haus BBQ pork didn’t seem fresh and lacked flavour. I will say that the BBQ Pork buns were tasty, but that was the only good dish. Surprised by the prior positive reviews, as it was far from our experience. The food that arrived looked nothing like the picture on their Facebook page.

This place gets my 5 stars not because it produces food comparable to the michelin-starred restaurants I've been to. The food is very good, but the friendly chef is exceptionally friendly and accommodating. He was passionate about the food and was keen to engage customers on their meal. From the outside, the place is quite unassuming, but I would suggest you try the Shandong chicken and green beans. They are very good.
