Norman Store

The store has been cleaned up since it's previous "Buy for Less" model. Same employees, cheap prices, brand name items. It's a great place for a quick stop. Veggies and fruit are usually good quality and half the price of Walmart. I don't do big shopping here but it's a great place to jump in and grab a few thing before a regular big shopping trip.

The idea of this store is that they charge the customer what it costs them to purchase the items and get them to the store, and then add 10% at checkout. Tax is also added at checkout, of course, but you have to pay that at any grocery store. The store itself seems well organized, and the staff were all very helpful and friendly. The ambiance reminds me of Homeland. Not exceptionally nice, but functional. The store seems a little...faded. That word seems to fit better than any other. People don't come here to look at a pretty store, though. They come here for low prices. For example, I usually buy a 4-pack of 8.4 oz Redbull. At Homeland, they cost $7.45 plus tax. At Smart Saver, they were $5.33 (plus 10%, plus tax). That's still a significant savings. The prices, plus the fact that it's near my new house, are why I plan to shop here regularly.

Smart Saver is a good grocery store, but not great. It does have some pretty nice sales but the average prices are just that, average. The selection is sufficient, but not encompassing. You won't find 10 kinds of something. And gourmet stuff is not the norm. But for standard well known items this is a handy place.
