Dates & Olives

Dates and Olives unfortunately had false advertising and displayed two different prices for the meal I ordered. Upon checking my receipt and inquiring about this price difference, I was told “this is a free country and you can do what you want” by the business manager/owner. I offered to pay either of the prices shown in the attached pictures but was refused and was told that I should have checked the website and that businesses are all suffering during Covid. I felt very insulted by the insinuation that I was purposefully trying to not support this business. Posted prices need to be honored for customers to have faith in the business. One of the other employees apologized to me for this treatment but I took the main employee up on her offer for a refund.

Popped in for a late lunch. First time going there and I was very impressed! Cute and comfortable space; great menu with lots of vegetarian options in addition to the classic chicken, lamb, and beef offerings. Amazing lamb gyro and cauliflower shawarma! And the hummus was a must have. Great staff too: super friendly, knowledgeable, and made some great recommendations.

Dates and Olives always provides stellar food quality and service. I often come here for healthy and quick takeout, but they're now also my go-to place for catering needs. The Signature Platter is both beautiful and flavorful, and my guests always love the variety. Thank you Dates and Olives for the quick and very helpful service, you're a party host's best friend!

Summary: nice place with friendly staff, but food is mediocre. Setting: no frills but tasteful, functional decor. Our table is pretty but legs are in the way - more visually appealing than comfortable. Other tables (smaller) seem not to have this issue. Staff: friendly and helpful, though could be more organized. Our food was waiting on the counter for a while because the back and the front of the shop did not communicate properly. Food: ho-hum at best. Spanakopita was tasty but completely soaked in oil, as if not hot enough. Sambousek was ok but not great. Gyros had good taste but were 'frugal' in their filling. Custom meal (beef) was tasty, but the beef was nowhere near tender enough. Best dish was the Messy Fries, which were crisp and simply delicious. Would return? No.
