El Marisco Grill

Slightly above average compared to other "Mexican food" in Madison, but what kind of was a bummer was waiting for the only 2 waitresses to acknowledge myself and the guy who came in behind me. They were talking to the same table for so long (several minutes) before the cook from the kitchen came up from the back to allow me to pay for my food that I had called ahead to order and was sitting on the table right in front of me while I waited and waited to pay for it. The chile relleno was mostly good, just a lot of oil on bottom and uncooked sauce on top, added to the sauce that it was cooked in, which was good on it's own, didn't need the extra topping.

Let me start with the positives. The food was absolutely delicious. BUT we ordered the chimichanga meals, to go, with queso, & churros. They were supposed to come with beans and rice. Neither meal did which was disappointing for $11 a piece, and we got 2. :/ would have been less disappointed had our order not been given away to someone else, before my guy got there. Maybe the food was kept out with regular Postmates orders, when we were a just a pickup? No idea. He had to wait for a whole new order and we still didn't get our beans and rice, which to be honest, would have really made my meal. The shrimp chimichanga was my favorite. If you ate in house, you'd probably have a great experience, but we were exhausted from yard work and landscaping all day. Just wanted to be at home. For what we paid, I wish we had had all of our food and not had the first order given away. Will definitely give them a second chance. There was more food than in the photos. Didn't think to snap a photo until I had already eaten some. 😅 we were SO HUNGRY.

Incredibly disappointed in our experience(s). We have ordered from here 3 times with a poor experience every time. The food itself has been tasty, but the orders have been incorrect and the biggest issue is the lack of tortilla chips. Each order has included approximately 8 dips (queso, guacamole, and salsa) and every time we get 1 small bag of chips. We write in the order to make sure there are adequate chips to no avail. We have called to rectify this situation and we are always told that this is a driver issue and they can’t control what the driver picks up and brings to us. The only resolution each time has been for us to drive out there and get more. We have gone out there before to get them. This last time we put a note in the order and had the driver ask when they arrived. They were told that they could not get any more chips. They again arrived to us with six meals and eight dips and one small bag of chips. I called to discuss this with the restaurant and they tried to blame the driver again and told us the only way to fix it would be for us to drive out there. We will be finding a new restaurant moving forward.

This spot is about as authentic as it gets out here in Tennessee. The food is all delicious and you do have to ask to have the cheese sauce taken off of many things if you're looking for truly authentic, but the cheese sauce is good if you're a fan. They do get busy, and they have outdoor seating. The place is pretty clean, the staff has always been super nice, it has just always been a very pleasant experience. The fish tacos, the guacamole, the shrimp chimichanga... all delicious. They also have one of the best shrimp cocktails around, and their carne asada tacos are enormous. I highly recommend visiting at least a couple times and trying some different things before making your decision on whether you like this place or not. I'm a big fan and already craving for my next visit!
