Prohibition

Prohibition is a real gem. The theme and execution of the decor and overall vibe were excellent. It seriously feels like you're walking into a small bookstore at first (a bookstore that requires an ID for 21 and over only 😅). Our server was very attentive and welcoming. I don't drink and still felt very welcome here. For the food: Bootlegger nachos 🇲🇽: excellent flavor and balance of spice and savory cheese and crunch of the chips. Very crunchy gooey ooey, and that's a good thing 😉. Wish there was an entree option that included a protein, but maybe if you asked? Sweet potato poutine fries 🥓: piping hot, same delicious cheese as the nachos (without chipotle)... And the bacon... wow. Much wow. Tuna tartar 🐟: Tasty dish. Really liked that they don't chop the tuna to oblivion. Also enjoyed the wasabi aioli that came on the plate. Next time I'd ask them to double the aioli. Lollipop gams 🍗: Do you know what a gam is? Neither do I. However, these lollipop style chicken drum sticks were delicious. I enjoyed the sweet buffalo sauce with the blue cheese. It was a nice balance of sweet/savory/spicy. Probably not worth $4 a "pop"though... see what I just did there? Beast Burger 🍔: Not entirely sure why they make such a big fuss about this burger being "very spicy", because it was hardly spicy at all. My wife got the habanero aioli on the side just in case, but it was much ado about nothing. Otherwise, the burger was slightly dry, but the pork belly was a nice addition. The fries lacked salt, and we had to ask for fry sauce or ketchup. Overall value 🤑: Most people in our party were disappointed with the value of the food here. Prices are steep, and the food did not measure up to the value test. Fun experience though. I'd honestly go back just for the starters and dessert (though the only dessert or party tried this time were the beignets, which I heard were satisfying).

We got the nachos. I was shocked at how much I enjoyed them. The chips were a little thicker but with the cheese sauce and beans, it was so good. For the entree, I got the beast burger. The pork belly was so good! The patty itself was a little on the dry side but overall it was a good burger. It was not as spicy as I was expecting either. I tried the beignet too which was light and coated well in powdered sugar. The berry compote was a good pair with the beignet. The atmosphere is loud but the live music is entertaining. The service was great. Our waiter made sure we were happy with everything and not too in our face about it either.

My friends and I celebrated my birthday at prohibition last week and it was seriously such an amazing time! The atmosphere is super cute, on Wednesday nights they have a Jazz band playing. Great selection of cocktails and mocktails and the menu offered a great selection of vegan options. I wish I remembered the individual who took our table because she was such a gem and brought us out some lovely surprise cocktails.

Overall a great experience. Fun place to visit. You enter into a small antique shop. The front counter person may ask for a password (your drivers license) as this is a bar. No one under 21. After confirming your age you go thru a Murphy door disguised as a book shelf. Prices are fair. Food is great, Drinks are perfect. And our server I believe it was Kurt was attentive and did a great job. Already booked a return on a Friday night in January for the burlesque show.

Food was fantastic! Great taste and filling. Service was good overall. There were times that they struggled to check in but overall it was good. The show was fun! Except it was hard to see. They sat me and my table behind a huge table that we were not able to see over. And I'm used to this but it does ruin the show. If they would have switched the two tables it would have made little difference to the other couple as they were much bigger than my under 5 ft frame. The performer's did move around the room to try to incorporate the rest of the audience. Drinks were great! And the atmosphere was beautiful! Will definitely come back even if just for that!

I love this place. Atmosphere was amazing! Fun to get dressed up for the times. Food was amazing, we had the poutine and the bootleg nachos. Both were hot crisp and delicious. My only gripe, is I can't tell you if the show was any good. They sat us in the far back where we couldn't see the show. We had made reservations and showed up early, which had no influence on quality of seat.
