Golden Chick

We were here on July 12th. This Golden Chick is usually pretty good. The chicken tenders often vary in size. Sometimes all are normal sized while other times they are a mix of normal size and deformed nugget pieces. The batter consistency varies too. Sometimes nice and a little crispy while other times the entire tender is mostly crunchy batter with some chicken inside. Prior to COVID-19 we would dine in and depending on the crew the dining area was freezing cold, other times it was just cold. Their green beans are ok. They put way too many bacon bits in the mix and it overpowers and ruins the flavor. I love bacon, but the stuff they add is not great. Their french fries are usually pretty good. The instant mashed potatoes are ok at best. They should make real mashed potatoes. The cole slaw is ok. It could use a flavor boost. The soft serve ice cream machine seems like it is never working. Their ice tea is too weak. The service like any other place is hit or miss, but usually pretty good. We've been coming here for years and will continue to do so.

We decided to give them another shot after about 2 years ago when we got in line waiting in the drive-thru only to learn that the didn't have any chicken, but only sides and bread. Today's experience: First, the speaker where they take your order is blown and you cannot understand anything that the guy taking the order says. This may account to why the guy seems annoyed after you ask him to repeat what he is saying. Service was slow and not a smile or a thank you. There is a pipe with dripping grease as soon as you get to the pick up window at eye level, very gross. Place needs upkeep for sure. Food, however, was very good, a bit on the pricey side.

I normally do not write reviews, but the total disregard for me as a customer was really low. Waiting in the drive through line I had time to make the coin change and paid $20.62 on an $8.62 bill. I got back $7. and it seemed to inconvenient the teller asking for my other $5. I also had to ask to get my drink and was asked, "Didn't you already get your drink?" Wow, some serious short term memory issues occurring here. Ok, I can move on from that. I decide to take advantage of the nice day and eat my lunch outside. There were no utensils for the macaroni and cheese, which they normally pack. It wouldn't have done much good , because just maybe there was enough pasta for 1& 1 /2 spoonfuls. It was mostly just a soupy liquid. Hopefully the other customers got a better service today, but I just wanted to relate my negative experience.

Wicked wings are tastiest item in the menu. Hope they keep it forever. Be warned it takes about eighteen minutes for them to make 24 wings. But it comes out hot and fresh for us. Can’t really complain. Wouldn’t want undercooked chicken. If they drop all the wings at once it would lower the temp of the oil quite a bit and result in a poor product. The rolls were fresh too. Excellent rolls.

We had to wait 20 minutes for the chicken to be ready. The gentleman at the take out window let us know, so we ran an errand and then came back. Chicken was hot and crispy. Minus 1 star because, prior to the errand, I would have liked him to have suggested that we pull to the front or park so he could either bring it out or told us to go through the drive through in 20 min. A truck in front of us was also waiting at the take out window and it could have caused a back up of vehicles.

The combination of this location and postmates is complete trash. I placed an order for curbside pickup and found out when I arrived that it isn’t curbside, you still have to wait in the drive thru line. What’s the point? My food was ready to pick up in 15 minutes but I had to wait in line for 20 minutes to get it. I do not recommend using this method for ordering ever. The staff is unwilling to work with you on getting you your order faster and when trying to cancel you get this never ending circle of being told to contact postmates and then being told to contact the store. Absolute trash. Never again.

This was not the best of experiences. I ordered a Big and Golden with Cheese got the sandwich no cheese. I called the store for them to have the opportunity correct the order. I spoke with John the manager and he didn’t offer to fix the sandwich only that he would save my receipt and he would give me the fifty cent credit towards my next time I came in. If your not willing to fix my order today what makes you think I would come back. I all I wanted was for them to make me a new sandwich. Hopefully this is a one time mishap!
