The Burgundy Sea Scallops with rice pilaf, mushrooms, and parsley cream sauce was perfection. The scallops were by far the best I have ever had! Appetizers, entrees, and desserts were all super fresh and flavorful. Our server was delightful, knowledgeable, fun, and appropriately attentive. All in all, an excellent dining experience. I feel that the decor could be updated a little bit. Warmer and a little bit more inviting would be great..... as this is a French restaurant, in a desirable location.

NICO is a "French-ish" raw bar and seafood restaurant. The baguettes were the most French thing on the menu and they were definitely good. Many of the menu items are French inspired, but definitely Americanized. The food was very good and the service was friendly and attentive. I had the oven cooked Red Snapper and it was excellent. The wine menu was small, but reasonably priced with a couple of good French red wines. I was not too impressed with the whites or roses they offered. The one thing I was not happy with was the atmosphere. The tables are very crowded together, making it very loud. The piped in music with a thumping bass did not go with the upscale atmosphere they are hoping for.

Nico's is a great spot near Shem Creek and usually not as crowded as other spots on the water. We fell in love with the fire baked oysters a few years ago and keep coming back. They have plenty of servers and the service is usually great. Half or more of the seating is outside and has a bit of a parking lot vibe but is perfectly fine if the weather is not crazy hot. Sitting at the inside bar is a bit cramped but gives you a front seat to all the action which is fun. We normally go for lunch on the weekends and be advised on Sundays it's the brunch menu only and no baked oysters. They make a decent bloody Mary and have a full bar which is great.

9/16/2023 this place was recommended to us by our shrimp history tour guide! He said they had the best oysters here. I ordered a few of the PEI and MA oysters, those were delicious! Then we ordered the whole snapper fish. We wanted a light lunch so we could eat more later and this was perfect! The service and food were both great! I would recommend this place! This was my first time going here in Charleston.

Update: perfect again! Thank you! Great service. Oysters on point! All the others great! Great food. Perfect service. Drinks never ran out. If you love oysters perfectly prepared this is the spot.The best French onion soup I have ever had. That is a hard statement for me to make. I eat it at every restaurant and I cook it better than some of the best French restaurants I have been to. The filet was great, the fish was perfect. The calamari, the duck, and the escargot was as good as any fine dinning establishment I have every eaten at. We could not have been more impressed. I don’t post reviews on most fine dinning restaurants because it is expected to be perfect and always is. I was not expecting this experience and I am glad we dropped in without a reservation.

This was our first time at NICO’s and it was absolutely amazing. We ordered a dozen raw and tried 3 different kinds of oysters and we also had one of the caviar oysters. The caviar oyster was delish! The other oysters were just as described on the menu and tasty. We then moved onto splitting the bouillabaisse and mussels. The mussels were bathed in butter, shallots, and wine. The bouillabaisse broth was so rich and full of flavor, no shortage of seafood either. Don’t forget to order a baguette to mop up all the juice. Our waitress was fantastic as well and very knowledgeable of everything on the menu, a fantastic experience all around. This will absolutely be a regular stop for us when we’re visiting Charleston.

I had the raw oysters chief select,and one caviar oyster. So fresh and delicious! My husband ordered the Halibut special with roasted tomatoe, scalloped potatoes and roasted mushrooms sides to share . I ordered the fire roasted clams. Everything was so delicious! Cooked and served to perfection. My husband was so intrigued by the other tables desserts that he had to order one , the creme brulee was such a beautiful presentation and so delicious I had to eat more than the bite I said I was having. Logan was our amazing server and had a great knowledge of wine and all the dishes.

NICO | Oysters + Seafood: Where the oysters take you on a flavor adventure and the lobster decides to take a nap! The oysters were absolutely amazing, like little pearls of deliciousness. However, the lobster seemed to be in need of a boost of confidence, as it left me feeling a tad underwhelmed. On the bright side, the chicken cordon was so fantastic that it should win an award for ‘Best Supporting Poultry’! The salad had a satisfying crunch and freshness that made me feel like I was munching on edible confetti. As for the scallops, they were swimmingly good! But oh, that homemade ginger beer… let’s just say it had a taste that left me puzzled, like a quirky riddle in a culinary Wonderland. Thankfully, the spotless surroundings and the attentive server made up for any ginger beer confusion. Overall, NICO | Oysters + Seafood is a place where taste buds dance, lobster dreams big, and ginger beer likes to keep you guessing. It’s an experience you won’t forget!
