Big Chef

I ordered pork lo mein, fried dumplings and shrimp toast. Let me tell you, all my food was totally on point! Their lo mein now seems to have a bit more healthy vegetables in it. The meat inside the dumplings was tasty and the dipping sauce woo hoo! TASTY.. Prices are reasonable you won't be disappointed.

We placed an order and went to pick it up. They couldn't find our order. They had given it to someone else who didn't realize it wasn't theirs till they opened the food and saw. The people who had the wrong order of course brought it back. Big chef then tried to pass our order to us after it was opened by someone else. Were in the middle of a global pandemic and barely get out anymore. I dont know the people who had taken our food or if they had been staying safe from the pandemic. I cant take this food and big chef couldnt seem to careless. They're always rude but the food was decent. This was the last straw for me.

The food here is awful. The interior is sketchy. They probably won't get your order right the first time. The chicken tasted old and microwaved, the vegetables were overcooked and tasteless. I can only afford to go out to eat one night a week, and I ended up throwing this dish away after a couple of bites and ate a $1 ramen bowl, and it was better than this. You'd be better off going anywhere else.

Big chef used to be good but not anymore. Today I had shrimp and broccoli and the shrimp was mushy soft an indication that is not fresh in my opinion. The broccoli was yellow that's old for sure. That's what I got today. Oh and their customer service skills lack big time. But I don't really care if you don't say hello or or even look at me in the face because what I really care about is good fresh food... and today no stars! Yours truly, Nancy

Horribly rude staff! My order was messed up, missing an egg roll. After driving all the way back, they insisted I ordered a dish that didn't include an egg roll. They refused to make it right, wanted me to drive back home to get the dish and return it! Ridiculous customer service! NEVER go to this poor excuse for a restaurant! There are better options in Mount Airy with nice owners/employees and better quality food

If you are looking for Chineese food in Mount Airy then stop, they are all bad. It's as if they are in a race to the bottom. I called and they said that my order would be ready in 10 minutes, that's because the food was cooked sometime in the past week or so. I ended up throwing it away. Don't try the other restaurant either, it's just as bad.

We've been eating at Big Chef for nearly 20 years but never again! Our Shrimp Fried Rice was not fried but just mushy rice with brown stuff and very little vegetables. We also ordered Shrimp Lo Mein which which was also mushy, lacked vegetables and any seasoning. Tasted like it was out of a can! Very disappointed!

Highly recommend the Sesame Chicken - ask for white meat (avoid the dark meat). Sauce is great and it's crispy fried with just a little broccoli. Don't get the General Tso's - it's overloaded with vegetables. Good chinese food is hard to find in Mt. Airy. Big Chef is our "go to". Really like the hot & sour soup - always get that when I have a cold or fever and it makes me feel better. Also - they are fast. When you phone in your order, they'll say 10 minutes - but it's ready in 7. Wait too long to pick up and your sesame chicken will get soggy. It's fantastic when it's hot & crispy!
