Hermitage Inn

Awful food - 3 out of 4 of our portions of fish and chips were so undercooked that the batter and fish were raw inside (one having already been sent back for the missing chips). The staff seemed bemused about us choosing to mention it—as politely as we could. We asked for sandwiches as a replacement, thinking they'd be served quickly, but even these seemed to take an age—these, at least, were pretty decent. Upon going to pay, it felt as though we were being treated as a flight risk.

Booked a table here this morning for 5 people at 6pm. We arrived at 6pm and bar man seemed surprised to see us. Think it was very obvious they hadn’t reserved any seating for us. Waitress tried to sit us upstairs after ordering us to place a drinks order at the bar while she switched the lights on upstairs. When we went upstairs the place was roasting and would not be comfortable to sit and eat dinner at. We eventually got a table at the bar area. Bar man was dismissive, almost to the point of being rude. My sister said she heard him saying to locals sitting drinking at the bar that “ tourists were a joke and always booked last minute expecting a table” Food was ok but the service from the bar man and attitude means we will never be back. We are good tippers working in the hair and beauty industry so at the end of the day it was his loss. No tip. I don’t leave negative reviews very often but this unwelcoming attitude really needs to be addressed.
