Da Emma

Honestly, we were expecting so much more given the celebrity photos and Montreal institution reputation of Da Emma.. Our server looked like he was ready to fall asleep at any moment. It took 20 minutes from the time we sat down until we received our first drink. He made mistakes on 2/4 of our orders. But that wasn't the worst part.. Look at this photo. This was a $47 sirloin, literally swimming in "peppercorn sauce", with a side of cheap boxed pasta soaked in tomato sauce... my wife had a completely flavorless sea bass ($49) that she was constantly pulling bones from. Maybe we just don't get the hype, maybe it was a one off bad experience, but dinner for 4 was $700 (including two $110 bottles of barolo which was the best part of the meal). If you are going to spend this kind of money on a meal, go somewhere else in Montreal. This was food I would expect from a cheap hotel buffet.

Such a fantastic place. Amazing food, drinks, atmosphere, and service. The complimentary bruschetta and bread was such a pleasant, delicious surprise. You can tell that each ingredient used is top quality. The lamb and gorgonzola cheese ravioli were the stars of the show (not photographed because we dug into it immediately). Highly recommend!

We went as a family of two adults and two kids. This place is nice, but probably not the right one if you are looking for a simple family dinner. It seems to be rather for an expensive romantic or business dinner. No pizza, which was surprising to us in an Italian restaurant. No desserts (or maybe we missed a separate menu), ice cream would great for kids. We liked wine. My daughter liked bread with butter most of all. The personal was very friendly and caring making our experience good overall.
