The Cod Shop

Walking up down The Avenue, there were a few choices, but in the end we went to The Cod Shop. It would have been nice to sit outside, but it had started to rain, so we sat inside. It was a really nice decor inside, there was a blue and white seaside theme throughout the restaurant. I thought it was really nice calming environment. Took a table and looked over the menu. It was lunchtime, and I wasn't overtly hungry (having just spent two hours sitting on a train) I went with the small cod special. This was a small cod, chips, a side, a dip, and a drink. I had mushy peas and mayonnaise with my cod. It wasn't long before our food arrived. The cod had a lovely crisp batter, and the fish was well cooked. The chips were a little underdone for me.

Food was freshly made and tasted fantastic. They have some good deals, around £10 for small fish and chips, drink and small curry sauce or mushy peas. There is indoor seating, but we sat outside. The tables were very clean and they had a large umbrella covering several tables. Definitely recommend for take-away or dining in.

We visited The Cod Shop last year on our visit to Minehead and decided we had to visit again this year. The guy who served us was very friendly, efficient and helpful. We ordered for 6, ate outside under a very large umbrella and all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The shop and seating area was clean and tidy and there was also an indoor restaurant too. Our food arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious - the best fish and chips we've had. We parked by the sea front (free after 6pm) and took a short wander up to the The Cod Shop. I would highly recommend.

We ate here whilst on holiday at Butlins and enjoyed some of the best fish and chips I've ever had! It was perfect for our family of 4 and excellent value for money we, all of us ate for £20 total. We were able to sit on one of the picnic benches outside in the late afternoon sunshine which was very pleasant.

A clean and nice restaurant tucked away at the back of the chippy. It wasn't too stuffy or warm despite the frying and cooking being done in the same room. Food was fresh and in good portions. Chips done perfectly to how we like them with lots of flavour. The children's meal of chicken chunks had good size chunks of chicken breast. Everything was presented well too.
