Found this place by luck while driving by and figured I’d give it a try. I was not disappointed. The server was friendly and prompt and the food came out relatively fast. The pork belly and green onion pancakes were delicious and generously portioned. The owner came to the table to talk and was super friendly. I do have to say, this is not your average takeout Chinese food that’s fried and drenched in sauce. This is real mainland Chinese food with much more delicate flavors. I’ll definitely be back!

Delicious hot pot and authentic Chinese dishes! Definitely for anyone looking for authentic Chinese cuisine instead of American-Chinese food. I highly recommend the spicy broth (we did mild spicy and still very flavorful), and the shrimp and fish balls were so good in it (we ordered brisket too but got the shrimp and fish at the owners recommendation). Friendly staff too. It’s so hard to find good and authentic Chinese in New Orleans, so this place makes the trip to Metairie so worth it!

My partner and I are pleasantly surprised that we've never heard of this place before. They opened right after hurricane Ida and I was just so preoccupied with other dire needs I was just frequenting the same places on my days off. So today I went about Yelp trying to find new eats. As always I always prioritize finding new Asian cuisine foods and saw that this place was opened relatively recent and decided to check them out. We came at 2:00pm on a Monday and there was no one here but us. We ordered the jian bing, the spicy beef noodle soup, the pan fried shrimp pork and egg dumplings, the bao, and the sichuan chicken. Spicy beef noodle soup: wow! The broth is really good! It was such a great mouthful of soy-base soup broth and a hearty serving of wheat noodles with braised beef And bok Choy. The chilies were a nice pop-in-the mouth with each bite and really was flavorful. Everything was lacking in terms of spiciness but I'm Thai and I love everything of mine to be fire. I added more chilies that they have on the table. Sichuan chicken: they stir fried this with sichuan peppers, jalapeños, and ginger. The dish lacked a little salt so we sprinkled some on and voila! Perfect. Chicken was nice and crispy and very tender inside, the fresh jalapeños was a nice bite from the subtle sweetness of fresh peppers, and the ginger had a really nice aroma that resonated throughout the entire dish. Jian Bing: the Jian bing was so unique. I've never had jian bing like this before, but it's also a regional difference as China is such a large country. It was filled with some type of fermented bean curd type sauce and a crispy wonton skin wrapper inside. Definitely worth a try! Bao: the texture of the steamed buns were exceptional. It had a nice bite and chewiness to the bread but it was also moist and soft from the inside. The fillings shrank and left small pocket holes but they were filled with the juices of the filling. Win win win! Shrimp, egg, and pork dumplings: amazing! This dish was one of the winners. Crispy on the outside and amazingly succulent in the inside. The flavors were phenomenal. I made my own soy-sauce vinegar on my own plate and dipped these in there. The service was very prompt and we were in want of nothing. The owner came out and greeted us and we felt really welcomed. Really glad we took the chance and tried this place today! Overall solid 5/5!

What a gem! My partner and I dined at YuYan Kitchen and were blown away. They serve authentic Chinese food and the passion is in every dish. All of the bao and dumplings are house made and the hot pot was just so delicious (pro tip: get the traditional and spicy broth and don’t sleep on the house made shrimp balls.) The best part was chatting with owner; she is so warm and hospitable and is eager to share the flavors of her childhood in China with her guests. Service was top notch. Go with a crowd so you can try all of the things - the servings are plentiful. We will be back to try more of the entrees; YuYan has a forever fan in me.

What a hidden gem on 18th in Metairie. Handmade chewy noodles, and some if the best beef broth in my beefy noodle soup. The owner came out telling how she made each dish by hand with fresh ingredients. Hand made dumplings with pork, shrimp and egg. Jian Bing(Chinese pancake) was so delicious with a cracker like crunchy filling and special spices all made with love. You can tell she loves what she does and is proud that all is made by hand.

Had a really amazing experience at YuYan Kitchen! If you are an adventurous eater who likes to eat authentic foreign cuisines and try new things, then I highly recommend YuYan Kitchen! We ordered the beef & onion pan fried dumplings, spicy beef noodle soup, braised pork belly, and dry fried string beans. Everything was delicious; the dumplings and soup were our favorites. Unfortunately, they were out of the bao and we were told to get there when they open for when they're hot and fresh, so we will definitely be doing that soon. Can't wait to go back and explore the menu!

It was such a joy to visit This place with the food that I grown up with in northeast of China . I brought my mom and husband, my two years old with me on our lunch date . The pan fried dumpling with home made chill oil taste like heaven .each dumpling has one whole shrimp . The flavorful won ton soup definitely my moms favorite , she said that’s kind of food she will come back again and agin . Soft and delicious . My hubby like dragon meatball and spicy noodle . My two years old love rib abs rice . The staff is friendly and we are welcome by the owner with genuine smile and she was so patience to explain how she food was made . We will come back , it’s just right food that remind me of home .

Tried this place out because of the amount of positive reviews. Left disappointed. We tried ordering a little bit of everything to really experience it. Hotpot: I've had worst, but this wasn't really that great either. Pork Dumplings & Beef Dumplings: Probably the best dish we tried, although the beef Dumplings came a little charred Fried Combination Noodles: decent dish...not seasoned enough and the beef tasted weird Handmade Eggrolls: reminded me of lumpia because of it's thinness...not memorable Beef & Broccoli: Beef was oversalted I can understand seasoning mistakes if the place was in the middle of a dinner rush, but we were one of two tables in the whole restaurant. Doubt I'd come back.
