The Rustler

My husband and I made a last minute decision to try this place. We’ve always wanted to. We were on our way to Livingston, Alabama to eat at Diamond Jim’s and decided we would rather eat locally if they could get us in. It’s Valentine’s weekend after all and we didn’t have reservations. When we entered the small lobby it was pretty full but we were quickly greeted by the friendliest little waitress ( who turned out to be the owners daughter) she told me not to worry that she would get us in and the wait wouldn’t be that long. I was surprised because the place was PACKED! While we’re were standing there waiting , I know I counted 10 other people that came in and she rushed to greet them and reassured that she would be happy to get them a table as well. We did have to wait for about 45 minutes due to the fact that people were steadily coming in that did have reservations. ( understandable) The wait was absolutely worth it. They did not disappoint. The food, the atmosphere, and the service was phenomenal. They building was a little dated and not what I expected. It’s also pretty small for the amount of people they serve but neither of those matter once you’re seated and the food starts to arrive. I had the 8oz Petite Filet with Asparagus and a loaded potato. He had the 16oz blackened Ribeye with broccoli and a loaded potato. Both were phenomenal!!! I literally cut through my steak with a fork. It was tender, juicy and like butter!! If you’re ever near Meridian, Ms. make sure you visit! It’s definitely worth the drive if you’re not.

If you’re of the belief that obscure ‘hole-in-the-wall’ restaurants often offer the best dining, then you’d be correct about The Rustler. Nestled in the not so nice part of town, with a front door that hardly looks like the front door of a restaurant, this place offers a very pleasant surprise once you enter. You start off with a loaf of sourdough bread that tastes like it came straight from the ovens of San Francisco. Try not to indulge, though, because you may run out of room before your meal arrives. The showstopper here is definitely the steak. Too bad for me, because I ordered salmon ( trying to be healthy). It was very good, though, considering this is Mississippi, not Alaska, lol. But when I sampled my husband’s steak, I had instant regret. By far, one of the best we’ve collectively ever tasted. And I can’t forget to mention the bacon wrapped scallop appetizer that offered up juicy, perfectly prepared scallops wrapped in tasty, crispy bacon. We also got bread pudding ‘to go’, but haven’t sampled it yet, so we’re looking forward to that little treat later this evening! Great experience overall and the staff was pleasant, helpful and very attentive, too!

My experience at the Rustler was awesome 👌🏾. The atmosphere was very warm and cozy, and the service was absolutely impeccable. Every single service staff member that I had contact with was extremely pleasant and helpful, and it felt like they were genuinely happy to serve. I was blown away at how they all worked together as a team to make every person they interacted with feel welcome! Shelby and Sims, my server/bartender were phenomenal. They were attentive, friendly and accommodating.There was also an older gentleman and older lady that made sure everything was going well. I really appreciated that! The service I received at this place was beyond my expectation, and I observed that everyone was being treated with the same level of service. My food, drinks and desert were all perfect! I ordered the 30oz Cowboy ribeye Med-well because I was concerned that the medium would be too rare, but it was perfectly med-well as requested. So, the steak temp was true to request, juicy, great quality and delicious. I also ordered the banana pudding cheesecake to take away and it was also amazing! If you are wondering if you should give this place a try, don't think twice. It's not cheap, but it's worth every dime. This was by far the best dine-in experience I've had in Mississippi since moving here a year ago.

We travel a lot for my Fiance's job. I'm out on the road with him during week then return home to work the weekends. This has been the first time in our relationship that we have been able to celebrate Valentine's Day together and we could not have picked a better place!!! Not only was the place just absolutely beautiful (I forgot to get a picture of the lounge) but, the food and service was wonderful! Seemes and Bradley were great and genuine company to have had serve and attend to us. I ordered the Hayden Filet with asparagus and baked potato. That was the most tender and juicy cut I have ever had. I cut it with a butter knife. The portion was great, also. My Fiance got the ribeye with asparagus and loaded baked potato and loved it too. It was a great cut and cooked to perfection. Although, he felt it was a little bland. The only thing I really noticed that was out of price were the wines. It stated this one bottle of wine was 30 dollars when I pay 8.99 at the liquor store for it. Besides that, I highly recommend coming here and enjoying the many things they have to offer. Thank yall so much for making our very first V-Day celebration together such a favorably memorable experience! P.S. highly recommend the "valentini" if they will make it again. I'm not a huge fan of sweet drinks but, this was the perfect mixture of sweet and tart!

Just fantastic! The crab claws were surprisingly good for an inland restaurant. The potato was fluffy, the grilled asparagus was tender and smoky, and the fillet was tender and tasty! I can't say enough about the staff. They were efficient, quick, very friendly and genuinely nice. Always there when needed but without hovering around. We are very much looking forward to returning.

What a fantastic find last night in Meridian. My friend and I have decided this is our new favorite place to dine when visiting Meridian. I would not change one thing about our experience. The service from the moment we walked in was excellent. Our waiter, Jeremy, was very prompt, knowledgeable and friendly. The food was delicious ~ the salad, the loaded baked potato, the mushrooms and the flavorful filet all cooked perfectly. Make sure to save room for a dessert…the hardest decision is bread pudding or banana pudding cheesecake (pictured). I would highly recommend stopping in at The Rustler for dinner any night of the week! I know I will be back!

We searched Google for a restaurant while traveling and found the Rustler. We were seated immediately upon arrival and our waitress was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurants interior is very nice. Cozy and classy, it's the type of place you can feel comfortable going to for any occasion, whether it's a impromptu meal while traveling or a romantic dinner. Our table ordered seafood dishes and steak dinners. The entrees came with sides and bread. Everything was cooked perfectly and was outstandingly delicious. I wish we would have had room for dessert! It was a much needed break from our travels. If our travels lead us by the Rustler again, we'll definitely be stopping in.
