Pho Cycle
Pros:
👧I have never had bad service here, staff are always lovely.
🍳 The food is delicious, fresh & light. I love the cold rolls, they’re filled with flavour and the sauces give them that extra kick of taste. Ensure to try the crab rolls, they’re delicious.
🏠 This restaurant has a rustic warehouse design, with an open feel.
🗺 Perfect location, with plenty of parking & shops around. I love the large outdoor seating which is great during the summer.
Cons:
💰Prices are a little high especially compared to the quantity of food you are getting.
Tips
💡To avoid large dinner lunch crowds go after 7:30pm.

Really amazing food! Fresh and pretty quick. It has a wheelchair accessible entrance, no step, but it could get a bit tight when you're in there. We stayed near the front!

The best Vietnamese noodles are there. My favourite dish is the chicken ribs, always crispy and tender (worth a try).
Excellent service, waiters are super friendly and helpful.
The venue resembles somewhere in country Vietnam. In short: tasty food at affordable prices.
Shame they’re not open Sundays and Mondays as well.

Great modern Vietnamese joint with lovely decor. Tried the mixed stir fry noodles, vermicelli rice noodle salad bowl, Peking duck rice paper rolls, caramelized pork belly and sweet potato fries. Everything was well cooked. The fries were super crunchy. It’s hard to pick a favorite - I loved all the dishes but especially ones with pork 🐷🐷🐷 if you’re visiting Melbourne and staying in the CBD, this place is a nice 20-30min walk and there are tons of shops on the way!

Lacks taste! Meat in Pho was tender, meat in rice paper rolls tender. But both dishes lacked any flavour. Crispy pork salad meat was nice, salad items almost non existent.

Great Vietnamese food and very affordable! My only criticism is that you can't get the traditional tendon, brisket or tripe in the pho as well. One of my favourite cheap eats in South Melbourne.

It had been very hot in Melbourne so I was thinking of a refreshing bowl of vermicelli salad ("bun") - with loads of fresh raw vegetables but also with chunks of meat all dressed up in a punchy dressing. I was disappointed. The veg was sparse and didn't taste fresh, the lemon grass chicken was dry and they weren't generous with the dressing. One can easily find better "bun" elsewhere, and it is far short of what my favourite "bun" place dishes up (Proud Peacock)

Not a bad pho.
Main criticism was the serving size was appalling. The $14 full serve was the equivalent of a small in traditional Richmond or Footscray.
The $9 mini serve was a joke.
If you’re a big eater, prepare to need to order 2 full serves! In which case, an expensive feed it becomes!!

Note that thefo0die.com rating is a 3.5 but in Zomato's rating system, it is closer to a 4.

Fo0die dined as a guest of Pho Cycle and as such, the rating does not give any consideration to customer service.

Located conveniently with a tram stop right at the front, we arrived via the tram from the CBD on a Friday evening to a quiet venue with many locals and frequent customers going in and out of the venue as we dined.

Walking in Pho Cycle, the decor immediately grabbed my attention . It was so fun and quirky with a lot of personalized art that adds character and charm to the venue

Our waitress who was so lovely was very helpful with her recommendations. We ordered the chicken pho, beef pho , the spicy pork mince pho and the stir fried combo noodles . The spicy mince pho was not traditional but probably my favorite out of all the mains we ordered, so delicious and perfect winter warmer .

We also ordered spring rolls, the hanoi spring rolls and some of the best chicken ribs I've had in awhile... so good ! A great place to catch up with friends, warm up or grab a cheap

Thanks for having us !

It’s the perfect weather at the moment for Pho, and Pho Cycle serve up some delicious and huge bowls of goodness. My personal favourite was the Spicy Pork Mince: warm, hearty and with a nice kick. We also tried the spring rolls which were crispy and tasty and the stir fry noodles with a mix of pork, chicken and prawn. I got the flat rice noodles which were a good mix. The chicken ribs were also a nice starter and really delicious.
They also have a selection of other Vietnamese dishes like Banh mi, noodle salads, fried rice and rice paper rolls. A nice spot for a quick meal.
Thanks for having us!

3.5/5 but since Zomato took away the ability to award .5, I'm giving Pho Cycle a 4 since it deserves more than a 3.

If you're after Vietnamese food similar to those you can get from Springvale, Footscray or Victoria Street (Richmond), then Pho Cycle is not for you. However, if you just want a honest-to-goodness meal, then do come along for the ride.

The meats are undeniably flavourful. The sticky and sweet sauce of the caramelised grilled pork ribs, and the aromatic lemongrass chicken were both delicious. Having said that, the pork ribs were unfortunately a bit dry, a fate that the BBQ Pork in the rice paper rolls also suffered from.

There were definitely more veggies in the vermicelli noodle salad compared to vermicelli noodles, resulting in quite the healthy dish. It was refreshingly light, and the abundance of veggies provided lots of crunch.

The price doesn't really reflect its value, as $19 for 3 pieces of caramelised grill pork ribs were a bit dear. Granted, it was accompanied by fried rice but still, we would prefer bigger sized ribs.

Easy-going service, and a delightful mix of traditional and modern decor, Pho Cycle is a good option when one wants Vietnamese yet couldn't be bothered to leave South Melbourne.

Rocked into Pho Cycle on a particularly bleary, cold and wet Melbourne night in the hope of being warmed up by a massive bowl of Pho - perfect choice. There are a few Vietnamese eateries along this little strip but Pho Cycle has such an awesome feel and coziness compared to most.
Starting with some spring rolls and soft shell crab, there’s a huge selection of entrees to get you going. Given I’m a huge fan of soft shell crab, this dish didn’t disappoint, I’m going back for it without doubt.
Moving onto the soup and the classic beef Pho was everything I was looking for to warm me up in winter. Huge serve, plenty of spice and a good amount of meat to fill you up. All the accompaniments and fresh chilli you could want too!
Highly recommend this spot for a quick lunch or dinner. Very reasonably priced and lovely, friendly service to boot!

We were invited to try a variety of dishes from Pho Cycle. Generally, the food was good and high in standards. Wouldn't say it's authentic though. If there was a little more umami flavour in the pho soup, it would have been perfect. The coconuts were amazing! The staff was friendly and welcoming.

I was delighted to accept an invitation to dine at Pho Cycle with the Melbourne Foodie Hub, given I work relatively nearby I was keen to discover a delicious new lunch spot. As soon as we walked in I was thoroughly impressed with the interior. The venue is modern and on trend and the menu boasts all the traditional classics.
I kicked off with a fresh coconut and my blogger companion had a Vietnamese iced coffee which really took us to the streets of Vietnam. We ordered two types of rice paper rolls raw salmon and prawn each of which came with a different dipping sauce. Both had a kick and were filled with flavour.
The salt and pepper calamari was a bit of a highlight for me, perfectly seasoned with a light crumb and the ideal texture.
I loved the lemongrass spring rolls as they came with all the elements so you could wrap them in the lettuce leaf with a sprig of mint and really taste all that lovely freshness.
The beef Bahn mi was delicious but not an authentic rendition if you are familiar with the standard pate version. I loved the crunchiness of the baguette and it was served with a side of chips making it quite a complete meal in and of itself.
The chicken stir fry noodles were our final dish and had quite a unique yummy flavour. I had expected a thicker noodle but it kind of reminded me of mie goreng which is never a bad thing.
Overall I’m thrilled to have discovered this little gem so close to the office and I’m definitely coming back to try the coconut and mint rum cocktail!

So happy to be invited along to have lunch today at Pho Cycle in South Melbourne. This cute little Vietnamese eatery has all the favourites on the one menu and the decor and wall art really takes you there.

Helping set to right mood we ordered coconut juice right from the coconut and Vietnamese iced coffee which tasted pretty much as I remembered it.

We started with rice paper rolls and the salmon rolls were standout but the prawns with a fishy dipping sauce also very good.

We had the salt and pepper calamari next which was light and tasty. This was a dish we could stop eating and dipping into the tasty mayo.

The chicken skewers were tender and tasty when wrapped in lettuce leaf but don’t forget that dipping sauce and sprig of Vietnamese mint to truely experience this great entree.

I would have ordered traditional Pork banh mi but my blogger pal didn’t eat pork so we tried the beef one. This was flavoursome but not traditional if that’s what you are after. Chilli mayo replaces pate and comes with a serve of chips which is fine by me.

Our last dish the super tasty chicken stir fried noodles which we changed to egg noodles just because. I loved the chicken which was fully flavoured although I would have liked a little more chicken in my bowl... I think you can pay for extra which I’ll do next time. Other than that a big tick from me.

Thanks so much for having us in for lunch.

A good standard pho and great value at $9 for the small bowl. I did want to rate 3.5, but Zomato has changed. I've had better broth, but the noodles were perfect and the beef was good too. The basil, beansprouts and chilli were all fresh, the perfect condiments to any pho. The place is nice and easy to find. Service was fast and friendly. I would eat here again, no problem. Phocycle seems to be a popular lunch time venue, as it's always busy when I walk past.

Pho chicken and beef combination was delicious. Very well tasting. Service was excellent, when they served me the soup and drink they were very polite and didn't just piff it on the table like most other restaurants do, they asked if there was anything else they can assist me with to let them know. The gentlemen who was at the cashier was friendly and nice to chat to. As for the cleanliness it was impeccable, this has not been my experience in other Pho restaurants. Everything was clean and well designed. Definitely a thumbs up for me. Thank you.

Been here a few times, both in a group or just with another colleague.

It is a fusion food place. If you are looking for real pho, go to Footscray or Springvale.
Here one gets south Melbourne priced pho, and not as authentic but reasonably decent pho if you are craving for it.

Banhmi not so good. Crispy pork banhmi not crispy.

The decoration interesting and looks more like a cafe/bar then a pho joint. Service is friendly enough but the kitchen doesn't make food quick.

Stop by if you want to have a nice long chat for drinks with some snacks or a longer lunch than just in and out pho or banhmi.
Been there for a few times however it's the first time to order takeaway from them and it's very disappointed. Order a chicken vermicelli and it came with a very small portion compare to in house, and there are definitely more room for them to put some more vegetables or vermicelli inside. With a price of $12.90 they are doing very bad on it. We have also ordered 4 rice paper rolls and it only come with one box of sauce which is totally not enough.

A bit disappointed with this takeaway experience.

Pho was my dish of 2016 - whether it was for a hungover Sunday night take-out, a late night order at work, or a meal out along Victoria Street in Richmond, pho was often my dish of choice. So, whilst coining myself as an expert is probably going too far, I like to think I am qualified to spot a good pho. Pho Cycle is one such place which offers a good pho - indeed, it's probably one of the best phos I've had in awhile.

Worst Banh Mi I've ever had in Melbourne.
- No pate
- No coriander
- Barely any meat

It was basically some coleslaw and mayonnaise () in a roll. Super friendly staff, the food came out quickly. Both the Pho and the Vermicelli were delcious, probably the best Vermicelli I've had in the South Melb area. The Ban Mi is tasty and good value for money given it comes with some delicious sweet potato fries. They were probably the best sweet potato fries I've had ever, crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and its accompanying chilli mayo is delicious. The Banmi lacked the traditional elements of Banmi (ie, fresh chilli, pate, coriander) but was other wise delicious. I will be back for more food from here.

The newest Vietnamese joint to open in South Melbourne, Pho Cycle is generating quite a buzz. It’s conveniently located near my office and it wasn’t long before a gaggle of co-workers decided to give it a go. We were very impressed by the fit out, it was a bit West, a bit East, just like the fusion of Vietnamese favourites and some interesting Western additions you’ll find on their menu. Crunchy Asian salad with lemongrass chicken and sweet potato fries? We’re there! We found our waiter to be charmingly hungover, affable, friendly and rather excellent despite what must have been a bit of a headache. Being so newly open they were still ironing out some of the service processes and were a bit slow, potentially surprised by the throng of customers. After only being open a few days the chatty and friendly service says a whole lot more about what we can expect from Pho Cycle than the speed does.
