It was OK service, I didnt expect too much from them anyway. Not many varieties of bread available compare to QV breadtop but good enough if you want to grab a quick snack. All of items were individually wrapped which was surprising. As someone said not great if it's hot day.
There is surcharge if you pay by card. I payed by cash.
10% off from 3pm until close.

this breadtop is a franchise store which u bought a birthday cake and even candle will charge u for $1! very stingy ! other breadtop never charge, terrible services will not go there for sure.

As It's mentioned in other reviews. I had the same feeling today. there's no 'best before' label on the packaging, so I asked but the staff won't look at you at all, she was just moving around and being impatient. Customer come for ur food but ur attitude push them away.

This store have a lot of nice stuff, but the lady who work on 25th of April 4pm was so aggressive, we came in grabbed some bread and trying to pay, she was so mad that we disturbed her to play her phone, after she tap the numbers she didn’t wait for us to finish and leave, she just turned around super loud and really mad face the wall keep playing her phone. We didn’t know what’s going on, so we just tap the pos paid and left. We still don’t know what the hell is going on, why she is so mad???

😱Lizzie’s first impression: a quick Asian bakery fix - always fresh and easy.<br/><br/>🍩Lizzie enjoyed: I especially like their hotdog buns - they are a good mix of salty dogs with a sweeter brioche bun which I enjoy. I also like love their egg tarts - they have a hard tart base instead of the traditional puff pastry.<br/><br/>🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: its just quick and easy and something you don't have to think about because its always so consistent. Nothing to not enjoy! <br/><br/>🥇Lizzie rates overall: great for a quick hunger fix.

I LOVE BREADTOP but the service at this Bourke Street store is lacking. I went in the other day to get a few bread things for snacks and the lady did not even look at me, didn't greet me, just told me how much it was and then went back to doing her tasks as she turned her back on me. I have been going to this Breadtop for over 10 years. The service used to be good but not anymore.
As for the bread, it's still great. And tastes fresh, but yeah it makes me want to go to the one at QV instead of this one.

Not much changes between stores. This one does a roaring trade with so many people passing by. Today I tried the little hot dogs in bread which are okay but not my favourite. The croissants were a little dry last week when I visited. Staff however are lovely and extremely helpful. Lots of choices here and well worth a visit. Wheelchair friendly.

A nice place for a quick snack on the go. Breadtop offers sweet and savoury breads. The breads are kind of dry but the selection remains consistent. Love the pork floss bread though.

Whenever I walk past this particular breadtop, they seem to be low on baked goods, so I can’t never find what I’m really craving. This is a popular one! However, this is a good way for me to try new things in their range. A lot of it is a bit too buttery/oily. We usually grab the chiffon muffin and the purple mochi!

Breadtop is a household name within the Asian bakery community. They specialize in producing fresh Asian inspired breads with influence from the west.Quality of the breads themselves are decent, they tend to be slightly oilier then what I prefer but at its price point and taste, you can't really fault them.Overall a solid experience, if you're looking for a quick feed to get you through the day before your next big meal.

The main contender for Asian style baked goods.<br/>Most things are kind of average but you can find some gems.<br/>The glazed twist donut is lightly sweet, soft, and pillowy, and you can see the richness in the colour of the dough.<br/>The messy bun sounds tempting but is like a pain au chocolat dusted in cocoa and topped with more chocolate icing. It's messy, fun, and satisfying.<br/>Pretty underrated is the banana cake in the fridge. Incredibly soft sponge, whipped cream and slices of fresh banana in the middle. It's so good!

Came out of a frustrating visit to the Telstra shop nearby so this Breadtop was the perfect store to grab some comfort food and go. It may not be too end but Breadtop is consistent and there is always something yum to grab and go. Today I took on the mighty custard bun which was nicely filled with a mild vanilla custard. My phone may not be 100% working but at least I felt better about the rest of my day.

No star from me if possible. <br/>I called to get b'day cake price and was told how to find online (as I was bit lost at their website). I could tell the female staff was not impressed on the phone and try to brush me off. Though I thanked her for assisting me to get the online size/price.<br/>I call back after I figure out the cake size after 10 min, unfortunately their phone has been forever no answer after 5 times trying. I had the gut feeling something was not right. <br/>I call from silent landline after a while, someone picked up the phone without saying anything then put it aside. I could hear background cutlery noise but barely customer talking. <br/>Then of course it's been forever engaged thereafter.<br/>Never again there.

Very careless staff, not only didn't I get the receipt after my purchase, I was overcharged with 400 dollars. The birthday mood was total spoiled. I had to prove that I have made the purchase by bring the cake in and show the bank transaction. They are not even very apologetic, the staff didn't accept my return on the cake in the first place. After my complaint the owner only offered me discount to buy this cake! What a joke! They overcharged me right away but took two days to refund the money! Will never buy at Breadtop again!

One of my favourite locations to grab a quick bite without any hassle. This is an Asian style bakery with branches throughout Victoria. Prices are very affordable. They serve a nice "butter-milk" bun called the Milk De Crunch

Favourite favourite bread place! The rainbow gateau is my most favourite cake in here of all! Always so perfect, the colours, the fresh cream! What more could you ask for?

LIT!: I have tried about half of the products at breadtop. There's one thing I always go back to and it's the taro buns. Especially in the morning when it is super soft and the taro is kind of warm. <br/><br/>NOT SO LIT: the counter girl is always gloomy.. soz <br/>

There’s so many Breadtop stores everywhere. Are they really that great to merit one on every single corner? Well, I tend to think the savoury options are solid, well-priced and tasty. If there’s any one item that embodies those qualities it’s the monster ham and cheese bun ($5). I picked up one on my morning commute, with the delay between tram arrivals being fortuitous for a change.<br/><br/>Still warm from the oven, the half a loaf sized bun is a mega indulgent treat, with layers of cured ham, melted cheese and less melted cheese. Yes, I can feel the calories pouring into my belt nothc but the sweet glaze and toasty cheese make it feel worthwhile. Service is mechanical and the store isn’t the most appealing but it’s all about the bread here. So much cheese. Mmm.

Got the puppy cake? It's basically a chocolate Swiss roll, covered in chocolate mousse. The "bone shaped biscuit" is actually made out of pure chocolate, I found it sweet haha. Overall, the presentation was a 5/5 :)

This encompasses what we all know and love about Breadtop. Fresh pastries, sleek functional design, you know the drill. Pick up your tray, tongs and your appetite and stroll around this store, grab what you need and leave with a smile (and perhaps a smiley face bun too). <br/><br/>The pastries in this store are to the highly fresh standard that I expect from CBD Breadtops. Today I was exctied to receive a complementary DeskTOP BreadTOP themed calender for 2017, which will be sure to get my next year off to an outstanding start. I am also a big fan of the new range of Cronuts at Breadtop, at $2.30 it is a bargain. I hope they continue to put out Cronuts, not phase them out: they were arguably the most delicious thing I have tasted ever at Breadtop!

A famous franchise asian bakery store, plenty of different bakes ranging from savory to sweet with a pick-as-you-go tray ordering system. <br/><br/>though quality can be fairly inconsistent as goods can be dry and tasteless, but I do recommend the twin sausage bun as that's my personal favourite. <br/><br/>not many other goods stand out to me but definitely a great place to go if you're looking for something cheap and if you're on the move.

Amazing franchise business accomplishment, nothing extra ordinary but consistent daily product.<br/>Must commend and congratulate their business acumen in spreading their wings so fast in Australia with their Hong Kong style bakery from Box Hill in 2002.<br/><br/>On the bakery side, although there's nothing super exciting about their breads, cakes and biscuits in comparison to Luxbite, etc. it's great value for money .... also I must add they have delivered consistent product on a daily basis, it's always the same ...... I've got to have some of their product delivered by my mother-in-law once every fortnight, actually for the kids :-)

This is review for the Melbourne central store , I called and ordered a cake this morning and said I would be in at 6pm to pick it up as I work all day. They said that would be fine and ensured I would definitely come in for it which I confirmed. They tried to hang up without asking me name or details. Then when I went to pick up they told me it was sold and that they would only hold it for two hours. This is the same girl I spoke to on the phone. Terrible service, didn't even apologise. Now stuck with no cake. Giving one cos you can't rate zero.

Poor customer service. I bought 4 breads which cost me $10 and just asking for an extra carry bag but rejected by a staff called 'messy'( similar pronunciation) . She said: can I say no" and show me the impolite unwilling face when she gave me the extra carry bag. Also she told me they only can give customer one carry bag !!! I was wondering is the carry bag cost a lot of money even though my expense does not cost much . They should make a notice in the shop about '1 carry bag to 1 customer' . Ridiculous !!

At this price point, of course you won’t be getting top grade ingredients, but at least the end result is a dessert offering that suits my palate perfectly.

The cake was sickly sweet and was squashed when it came out of the bag. I didn't squash it on the way back to my office- I promise. I was very careful with this. The wrapping was really hard to get off without the use of my hands. My hands were sticky afterwards.

Beautiful. Love the self service. The food is so fresh and tastes amazing.. Definitely a place to go if you are looking for a little treat while shopping.. So many different savoury and sweet goods to choose from that you probably can't get from any other bakery.

Quick, Cheap & Good. Yummy, I was tempted every time I walked down Bourke Street with its self-serve glass cupboards filled with quite a few interesting and different items. They have a large variety of both sweet and savory buns, pasties, muffins, donuts and cakes. This place is perfect for a cheap, quick breakfast, lunch or snack. In this Asian bakery, you pick out what you want from the glass cupboards, place it on a tray then pay at the counter.

Alway a Treat!. As a visitor from a small town interstate, it's always a treat to visit a Breadtop when I come to Melbourne. There's a great selection of tasty pastries and goodies for a very reasonable price, and navigating around the shop with your tray and tongs is often half the fun of shopping there. I really wish we had a Breadtop back home!

Gross out. Generic sugary asian inspired bread items. There are much nicer places to get pork buns and custard tarts in the city. Give this place a miss.

The cake was so good we've had it twice now. It's light with a soft top and crispy base. The almond and custard bun was nice too not so big a fun of the milk bun; too dry and the filling was sweet coconut which was too sweet for me.
