Coffee Cup

New owners took over April 2013 so please ignore that last post because they are doing a terrific job with cleaning, redecorating, and cooking. Seven days a week, terrific homestyle cooking. Took my 87 year old dad in for pie and coffee and he gave it a thumbs up. I took myself in for breakfast and thought the pancakes were exceptional. Even a few veggie items. Really nice people, too. I never knew the owners before, but really, they seem as good as their cooking. They are still new, still trying some things out, but I think it will get even better, so I am holding back on one star in order to go back and up the ante when they do.

If I were to have written this review 4 years ago, I would have given it 5 stars: the price was right, the food was great, and it felt just like one of those quaint little diners you see on those old t.v. shows. I love the place. If I had friends come in from out of town, it was the first place I suggested that they go to. And then I guess they switched owners. There's some kind of keno/internet game on the counter. T.V's everywhere. -_- Ok -- so my husband and I used to come here quit frequently -- he would order the short stack with a kielbasa. The kielbasa, I believe, came from Brother's Sausage, just right down the road. It was thick, and juicy... and the skin was crunchy. My mouth is literally watering just thinking about it. I decided to order it one day -- the kielbasa changed to a piece of hillshire farm crap. When I asked about it, the waitress told me that it was the same sausage, just cooked differently, because people complained about how "crunchy" the sausage was; apparently they used to deep fry it, and are now just pan frying it. I don't think any amount of cooking would turn hillshire farm garbage into the delicious mess of meat that they used to once serve. and the home fries... not so great anymore either. =(
