We had a delicious lunch at the Stackhouse Restaurant.
They have a good selection of barbecue, burgers and other items. And they have an extensive selection of local brews.
I ordered from the kids/seniors menu and got two brisket sliders with a side salad. They were delicious and filled me up.
My wife had the BLAT - a bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato sandwich, which was very tasty.
Check the schedule for music in the evenings.

We stopped for lunch on a road trip, small place, great customer service. The batter fried mushrooms and onion rings were so good! They have a good vegetarian burger and great blue cheese dressing too.

So we stopped in on our way home to Unicoi, and were blown away! The food was incredible and the portions outstanding. We’ll be making the trip to Mars Hill from Unicoi just to get our Stackhouse fix from now on!

Great food. Great staff. Afordable. My family loves this place. Try it all... get a burger! I know, giving it all 5 stars is quite rare. They do an awesome job.

This was a very pleasant surprise for a meal while traveling through Mars Hill, just 5 minutes off the interstate. The staff is very friendly. They seemed short staffed, like many places, so be patient with them. I have eaten here twice now and enjoyed the food overall. The Appalachian Cheesesteak was fantastic. I really enjoyed the onion rings as they are obviously hand-made fresh with a light batter and big chunks of onion. (more on that later) The fries are also on-point, they are between a shoestring fry and a typical fry size, and crispy. The second time there was a special on smoked ribs; moist, tender, fall off the bone perfection. There is a good selection of local beers and cider on tap as well.
The areas for improvement, and the lack of 5 Stars is the consistency. I was really looking forward to those onion rings the second time around, but unfortunately they were over-battered and very greasy. They were much busier the second time, and I noticed there was an additional person helping in the kitchen. This could account for it.
My suggestions for anyone on a first time visit:
If coming from the interstate, Go past main street, (GPS will tell you to take a right); take a right on College St. There is better 2 hour parking, and you're not parking directly on Main St. 1 minute walk around the block to the restaurant.
If you like sweet, thick, Memphis style bbq sauce; bring some with you. The sauce here is more South Carolina, vinegar style. I know a lot of people enjoy that style, but not I. The meat itself is cooked to perfection with good spices, I just did not enjoy the sauce options.
I'll definitely be a repeat customer.

This was a nice little restaurant here in this small town. Our party of 13 made reservations and the staff had our table ready right away.
They serve various burgers and loaded french fries, called "LandFills". The brisket was really good, a tad bit greasy though. The grilled chicken was a bit overcooked, not terrible, but not very moist either. And the burgers had a little pink in the middle, no matter how well-done your requested it.
The atmosphere was nice, as was the waitress; very attentive and got us anything we needed quickly.
If they have the Key lime pie.... It is the BEST you'll ever eat!! I would recommend checking this place out if you're ever in the area

Quaint, small town, local bar and grill with delicious food that is VERY reasonably priced. Great portion sizes as well. Our group had various items from the spinach dip, to wings, to pulled pork slides, chicken stacks and a BLT. All delicious and cooked to perfection. Service was great and the atmosphere was inviting/locally focused.

Desk attendant recommended Stackhouse for dinner. Definitely no disappointment! I really enjoyed a pulled-pork sandwich with red cabbage, pineapple slices, and a habanero salsa. Sweet potato fries and some unsweetened iced tea. The salsa is made in house and really flavorful. Recommend this restaurant and will return again. Can't go wrong here.

We enjoyed fried pickles (very good) with ranch dressing. Then split a #11 thick burger (6oz) with seasoned french fries and we added a side salad.

What a super find while traveling through this charming town! Sat at the bar. They don't have spirits but have good wine and beer selection. Bartenders are friendly and fun. This place was packed during lunch and I quickly found out why. Food was amazing! Juicy burger and delicious pulled pork sandwich. Enjoyable conversation with others at the bar passing through town. Just an all around great experience - one of those unplanned nice surprises while traveling. Definitely stop in. You won't be disappointed!
